Police are preparing to file charges against the bus driver involved in a tragic collision between a freight train and an air-conditioned Route 206 bus at the Makkasan railway crossing on Asok-Din Daeng Road, which resulted in numerous deaths and injuries. The train driver tested positive for drug use, and the railway flagman has been detained and charged as well.
On May 17, at 9 p.m., Pol. Col. Uramporn Khundetchasamsrithi, superintendent of Makkasan Police Station, along with Pol. Lt. (F) Khanista Thepnuean, deputy superintendent (investigation), and investigating officers traveled to the hospital with case documents, evidence, and printing equipment to question injured survivors still receiving treatment.
Police are preparing to charge bus driver Lapish (surname withheld) with reckless operation causing injury or death to others. He is currently hospitalized at Kamillian Hospital with burn wounds covering his torso and both legs.
