In the 2025 Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) for electric utilities in emerging market indices, 30 companies globally competed for selection, with only 3 companies ultimately chosen for the 2026 DJ BIC. S&P Dow Jones Indices rebranded its sustainability and ESG indices in 2025, changing the name from Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) to Dow Jones Best-in-Class Indices (DJ BIC), effective February 10, 2025, with annual reviews moved to the end of April to align with S&P Global's corporate sustainability assessment framework. Prior to this rebrand, EGCO Group was continuously selected for inclusion in the DJSI from 2020 to 2024.

At 2:30 AM on May 7, 2025, Pol. Lt. Col. Phachawee Reungphu, commander of the Kanchanaburi Provincial Police, along with Pol. Maj. Sittipong Sangsaeng, superintendent of Ladyai Police Station, led investigators from both Ladyai Station and the provincial police to arrest Chayant (surname withheld), who shot Sariree (surname withheld), 54, his ex-mother-in-law, causing serious injuries. Satya (surname withheld), 32, Sariree's son, and Songwan (surname withheld), 64, his ex-father-in-law, were killed in the incident at a residence in Tambon Ladyai, Muang District, Kanchanaburi Province.

Chayant was apprehended on a public road in Tambon Nong Bua, Muang District, carrying a Glock 17 handgun in 9mm, seven 9mm rounds, and one magazine.

Initial charges against Chayant include premeditated murder, attempted premeditated murder, illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition without registration, and carrying weapons through populated areas without justifiable cause.

According to preliminary interrogation, Chayant, a former son-in-law of the victims, had family disputes stemming from a divorce. The family previously cultivated sugarcane on approximately 700 rai of land. When Chayant's ex-wife filed for divorce in late 2024, the court awarded all the sugarcane crops to her family but granted Chayant a portion of the land. When the ex-wife's family harvested the sugarcane but did not clear it from Chayant's section, preventing him from preparing his land for new planting, he requested their cooperation. After receiving no response to his requests, Chayant rode to the house to demand when they would clear the sugarcane but was ignored, prompting him to commit the attack. Authorities continue investigating the full circumstances.

The victim's brother addressed the case on Facebook on May 7th, 2569, offering his perspective on the tragic incident. He stated: "If the woman truly had that much money, my brother wouldn't have come asking to borrow from me every month. But we shared everything when they were together—that's what couples do. If she was really that financially secure, he wouldn't need to ask me for loans. Yes, sometimes we helped each other out, but I have to ask: would you feel heartbroken if this were your family? Some comments condemn the woman without knowing the full story, but they're speaking ill of someone who can no longer defend themselves or explain what happened between them. Wasn't what she did extremely severe? He has a child to raise and a mother to care for. Instead of using wisdom and communication to resolve your problems, you took an action that cost him his life—something that can never be undone. A young daughter with dark eyes who had a father to care for her will never have that again. All because of your anger and satisfaction. You've left a child without a father."
