Older Brother Speaks Out on Dark Heart: Woman Rams Motorcycle, Then Stomps on Victim's Face

A man's older brother has spoken out about a fatal incident in which a 42-year-old woman hit and killed her estranged husband with her car on a Saraburi road, then stepped on his face. The brother acknowledged the deceased was unfaithful but defended his character, emphasizing that the woman's actions—running him down and deliberately stomping on his face—were heartlessly cruel. The brother called for an end to the cycle of revenge, expressing both forgiveness and sorrow for the tragic outcome.

The older brother opens up about his sibling being hit by the vengeful ex-girlfriend's car, acknowledging the deceased was a womanizer but defending his character and condemning the heartlessness of the attack. A 42-year-old woman driving a Bangkok-registered Honda Jazz struck a Yamaha Fino motorcycle, killing 38-year-old Aphisit, her estranged husband, on Phahon Yothin Road kilometer 102 (parallel lane entering Saraburi) in Nong Yao Subdistrict, Muang District, Saraburi Province. She then got out and stomped repeatedly on the victim's face.

In an interview on May 7, 2025, Aphisit's 46-year-old older brother, whom the deceased deeply respected, revealed that during their 30-plus years together, the deceased was a good person with many friends, though some disliked him. He acknowledged his brother was a womanizer before meeting the suspect, but claimed he never brought other women around once they were together.

The brother explained that the couple gradually spent less time together because they had different lifestyles and children from previous relationships. The suspect's father also disapproved of the deceased, suspecting he was after their money. Regarding claims the deceased took a million baht from the suspect, the brother said he believed the money was spent on their life together—pointing to photos of boat trips and visits to Laos.

The brother acknowledged his sibling was unfaithful, noting that after each breakup he'd move on to someone new, introducing each as "my wife." However, during the relationship with the suspect, he never saw other women brought around. He posted on Facebook to share the male perspective after receiving harsh comments, as the deceased could not speak for himself.

When confronted, the suspect would only say they couldn't be together and once warned him to think carefully about breaking up. What disturbed the brother most was the image of her stomping on the deceased's face. He described her as heartless for not only hitting him but then deliberately stepping on his face. He questioned why she would seek such revenge and expressed both anger at her and pity for the victim, saying he forgave her personally but wouldn't want their grievances to carry forward into the next life.

The deceased's body was being transferred from the hospital at 2 p.m. that day.

7 May Khaosod

The Treasury Ministry has launched a major reshuffle following Kulya Tantiimit's resignation as director-general of the Revenue Department at age 54, forgoing the opportunity to advance to permanent secretary of the Finance Ministry. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nititanprapast has issued orders establishing a succession line of nine officials to serve as acting director-general beginning May 3, 2025, including: Somsak Anantavat, advisor on energy business tax collection strategy; Kriengsak Prasong Sukanjanh, efficiency advisor; Phinyu Kamneutlom, IT and communications advisor; Salakchit Pongsirijanth, financial transaction tax strategy advisor; Chitra Neesanant, tax base development advisor; and four deputy directors-general including Phawatwat Luongwilai, Surayuth Kobkitpanichphol, Krueda Kritiyachotipakon, and Khanruck Suwannaram.

Meanwhile, speculation surrounds the appointment of the next permanent director-general, with several candidates under consideration including Winit Visetsuwannaphum, current director of the Office of Fiscal Policy, and Patricia Mongkolvanit, director-general of the Comptroller General's Department. However, the frontrunner appears to be Pornchai Thiravech, director-general of the Excise Department, who is senior and well-regarded by government leadership. If Pornchai advances to the Revenue Department post, candidates for his vacant position include Thibadee Wattanakul, director of the State Enterprise Policy Committee, and Akkrut Santhayanan, director-general of the Treasury Department who previously advised on tax collection development.

Thai actress Tu Tontawan dismissed dating rumors with co-star Win Methawin, clarifying they are just close friends who frequently work together and enjoy casual hangouts.

7 May Khaosod

Tu Tontawan Tantiwechakul has addressed the recent dating rumors involving actor Win Methawin after photos emerged of them dining together. The actress, who previously faced intense fan speculation pairing her with co-star Bright Vachirawit (which she clarified was purely fraternal), opened up during an appearance at the "GoHug Welcome Home by Pramy" event at Thonglor Animal Hospital. Tu explained that she and Win simply have a casual, friendly relationship and frequently find themselves together because they work on projects together. She revealed that they were invited to grab lunch on a day when both had free time, and that her friend O't (who is close to both of them) would typically join their outings but is currently in Korea, leaving her to face teasing from friends alone.

Tu expressed that while the constant speculation does make her a bit cautious about being seen with people, she and Win are aware of their sibling-like bond and aren't overly concerned about what others think. She humorously noted that she and Win actually tease each other back when either captures attention with someone else.

During the interview, Tu also discussed her love for dogs and shared details about her two pet dogs: "Tee," a 10-year-old Jack Russell she's had since high school, and "Tao," a much younger rescue dog. She explained that she intentionally named them with the "Ta" prefix to match her own name, creating a family identity. Tu credited her spacious home environment for keeping her dogs healthy and happy, as they have plenty of room to run, dig, and play. Her father helps manage their regular feeding schedule.

Chinese Programmer Arrested for Hacking Major Game Developer, Stealing Source Code to Create Counterfeit Games Worth 9 Million Baht

Chinese programmer arrested in Bangkok for hacking a major game developer's database and creating counterfeit games that caused 9 million baht in intellectual property damage.

7 May Khaosod

On May 7, 2025, Thai police arrested Mr. Wang (known as Mr.Wang), a 34-year-old Chinese national, in a high-rise building in the Sukhumvit area of Bangkok's Watthana District. Wang is prohibited from entry into Thailand under immigration law and is considered a threat to public security. He is also wanted by Chinese authorities.

The arrest followed intelligence shared by the Mekong-Lancang Law Enforcement Cooperation Center (LMLECC) with Thailand's anti-transnational crime unit. Wang is accused by Chinese authorities of unauthorized computer data access.

Investigation revealed that Wang, a skilled Chinese programmer, hacked into a major gaming company's database to steal source code and system architecture. He then developed counterfeit games closely resembling the originals. Wang established shell companies with online payment systems to fraudulently collect money from unsuspecting players by undercutting item prices to attract customers. The intellectual property damage to the legitimate game developer exceeded 18 million yuan, approximately 9 million baht.

Wang had entered Thailand posing as a tourist and rented a luxury condominium in Bangkok. After authorities tracked and arrested him, he was initially stripped of residency rights. He is now being held at Immigration Police Division 3 pending deportation to China and further legal proceedings.

Suchath Orders Water Resources Department to Increase Water Supply to Combat Drought and Unpredictable Rainfall Conditions

Thailand's Water Resources Department is accelerating efforts to boost water supply across the country following ministerial orders to combat drought and erratic rainfall. The department has mobilized 115 water pumps and distributed aid to

7 May Khaosod

The Water Resources Department is accelerating implementation of public relief measures on May 7, 2026, following directives from Natural Resources and Environment Minister Suchath Chomklin to increase water supply for consumption and use. The directive instructs affiliated agencies to boost drinking water and domestic water access, support village water supply systems, stockpile water in drought-prone areas, and distribute water to support agriculture, ensuring sufficient water supply to meet the needs of communities at risk of water scarcity and agricultural areas affected by erratic rainfall.

Water Resources Department Director General Theerachunn Boonsitthi announced that the Water Situation Analysis and Assessment Unit (WSAAU) has been ordered to collect, analyze, and monitor water data, while the 11 regional water resources offices have been instructed to continuously monitor conditions in their areas and accelerate efforts to provide access to drinking water and agricultural water throughout their regions.

Currently, 294 surface water sources with a combined capacity of 564.13 million cubic meters hold 332.71 million cubic meters of water, representing 58.98% of total capacity, to meet public water demands. Since October 1, 2025, relief efforts across 31 provinces have supported 115 water pumps with combined pumping capacity of 16.68 million cubic meters and distributed 3,945,714 liters of drinking water, benefiting 96,048 households totaling 333,487 people. Agricultural areas benefited amount to 168,271 rai, comprising 145,838 rai of fruit plantations and 22,433 rai of rice paddies.

The Water Resources Department is monitoring global climate trends, with data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) forecasting that Southeast Asian countries, including Thailand, will experience ENSO-Neutral conditions from April to June 2026, which may cause unpredictable early-season rainfall, scattered showers, and localized downpours. The latter half of the year shows increased drought risk due to declining baseline water and soil moisture, though short-term heavy rainfall in some periods may pose flash flooding and sudden flood threats to low-lying and foothill areas.

The Water Resources Department has implemented proactive preparedness measures including water retention in reservoirs, improved water distribution system efficiency, water situation monitoring, machinery and pump readiness, and arrangement of backup water sources to support drinking water and agricultural needs in at-risk areas, while coordinating with local agencies to alleviate public hardship, reduce climate variability impacts, and ensure continuous water security.

Arsenic testing begins for communities along Salween River in Mae Hong Son

Health officials have begun testing residents along the Salween River in Mae Hong Son after arsenic levels were found five times higher than Thai safety standards, with initial screening of 99 villagers to assess potential contamination exp

7 May Khaosod

MAE HONG SON — Health officials have begun urine testing for arsenic exposure among residents living along the Salween River in Mae Hong Son province after concerns over contamination in the waterway. The health screening follows growing concern over arsenic contamination in the Salween River after researchers from Chiang Mai University reported in late 2025 that arsenic levels in parts of the river were as much as five times higher than Thai safety standards. Authorities later expanded monitoring across Mae Hong Son province, with the Pollution Control Department finding arsenic contamination above standards at all 13 sampling points tested along the river.

Officials from the Department of Disease Control, together with local public health offices and hospitals, conducted urine tests on residents of Sob Moei and Mae Sariang districts bordering the Salween River on May 6 to screen for potential health risks linked to arsenic contamination. Phongphipat Meebenjamat, chief executive of the Mae Sam Laep Subdistrict Administrative Organisation in Sob Moei District, said participating agencies included the Office of Disease Prevention and Control Region 1 in Chiang Mai, the Department of Disease Control's occupational and environmental disease divisions, Sob Moei Hospital, local health promotion hospitals, the Mae Sam Laep local administration, and Salween River monitoring volunteers. The screening operation was carried out at the Salween Building of the Mae Sam Laep Subdistrict Administrative Organisation and focused on residents from Ban Tha Ta Fang, Ban Mae Sam Laep, and Ban Sob Moei villages.

Officials collected medical histories and urine samples from 99 residents, which will be analysed in a laboratory. However, budget constraints and the high cost of testing prevented authorities from screening all villagers in the affected communities. Test results are expected within three months.

Phongphipat noted that residents in both Mae Sariang and Sob Moei districts, who have long relied on the Salween River for daily use and consumption, remain deeply concerned about contamination and its psychological impact on local communities. Environmental researchers have increasingly warned that unregulated mining activity in Myanmar's border regions is affecting major river systems flowing into Thailand, raising concerns about long-term health risks for communities dependent on rivers for drinking water, fishing, and agriculture.

Water Authority Reports April to June Will See Extreme Weather Variability With Drought and Rainfall Swings; Second Half of Year Faces Drought Risk

Thailand's Royal Irrigation Department warns of highly variable weather conditions from April to June with alternating drought and rainfall, and increased drought risk in the second half of 2025. The department is implementing proactive water management strategies across 31 provinces, currently maintaining water reserves at 58.98 percent capacity of total surface water sources. Climate data suggests ENSO-Neutral conditions may cause unpredictable rainfall patterns while the latter half of the year faces elevated drought risk.

7 May Khaosod

On May 7, 2025, Theerachun Boonsit, Director-General of the Royal Irrigation Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, announced that the department is accelerating assistance measures following directives from Minister Suchat Chomklin to increase drinking water and domestic water supplies, support village water systems, reserve water in drought-prone areas, and distribute water to support agriculture. Theerachun stated that he has instructed the Water Situation Analysis and Assessment Unit to compile and monitor water data, while ordering regional water resource offices 1-11 to continuously track conditions in their jurisdictions and expedite efforts to ensure adequate access to drinking water and agricultural water across vulnerable areas. Currently, 294 surface water sources with a combined capacity of 564.13 million cubic meters hold 332.71 million cubic meters of water, representing 58.98 percent capacity to meet public water needs.

Since October 2024 to present, assistance efforts across 31 provinces have deployed 115 water pumps with combined pumping volume of 16.68 million cubic meters and distributed 3.94 million liters of drinking water, benefiting 96,048 households comprising 333,487 people. Agricultural areas benefited total 168,271 rai, including 145,838 rai of fruit orchards and 22,433 rai of rice paddies.

Theerachun further noted that the department is monitoring global climate trends based on data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which forecasts that Southeast Asian countries including Thailand will be influenced by ENSO-Neutral conditions from April to June 2025, potentially causing variable early-season rainfall with scattered showers or localized rain in some areas. The second half of the year shows increased drought risk due to declining water reserves and soil moisture, though sporadic heavy rainfall in short periods may occur, requiring low-lying and foothill areas to remain vigilant against floods and flash flooding. The Water Authority is implementing proactive readiness measures including water retention, monitoring, and impact mitigation to ensure continuous water security for the public.

Buriram Residents Oppose Street Light Power-Saving Measure, Seek Review

Buriram residents oppose a government street light power-saving measure that began May 1, with one section already restored after safety concerns; officials say shutdowns target only low-risk secondary roads with reflective safety equipment

7 May Khaosod

On May 7, 2025, Chaiwithi Bursomboon, Director of the Buriram Highway Department, assigned electrical engineer Suwit Sareenram and staff to inspect the implementation of the street light shutdown measure on secondary roads to conserve electricity under the government policy that began on May 1, 2025. The survey of Highway 2073 identified four light-off sections using both alternating and consecutive shutdown patterns, focusing on low-risk areas that are not residential zones, dangerous curves, or high-traffic routes.

After implementing the shutdowns since May 1, one section received public feedback indicating the darkness posed accident risks, prompting officials to restore lighting in that area. Other sections have not reported problems and continue operating under the energy-saving policy. However, resident Nittaya Kotrowong from Lamplaimat District expressed her disagreement with turning off lights, particularly on main roads with regular traffic, citing increased accident risks. She called for the government to reconsider the measure, though she supports energy conservation efforts, and suggested alternative measures that don't endanger public safety.

Suwit Sareenram reported that the Buriram Highway Department has implemented light shutdowns on six secondary routes numbered with four digits, targeting low-risk areas excluding communities, intersections, and dangerous curves with light traffic. Reflective safety equipment has been installed as replacements to ensure drivers can see clearly. While some sections received feedback about increased accident risks and were restored, other sections continue operating under the policy as surveys confirmed they are low-risk with sparse traffic and adequate reflective safety devices.
