A 28-year-old drug user in Udon Thani was arrested after sexually harassing a teacher online; police caught him through a sting operation and found 60 methamphetamine pills at his home.
On May 16, 2025, Deputy Police Colonel Atit Chantha, commander of Nong Wua So Police Station, ordered Lieutenant Phonm Saenthong and an investigation team to arrest Thosapol, 28, from Nong Ao Subdistrict, Nong Wua So District, Udon Thani Province. Officers seized 60 methamphetamine pills found in his possession. The arrest came after a 36-year-old female teacher filed a complaint of sexual harassment and solicitation for sexual services. During interrogation, Thosapol confessed to messaging the teacher seeking to purchase services, claiming he actually needed house cleaning help because he lived alone. He also admitted sometimes asking on behalf of a friend who had recently become addicted to methamphetamine. The suspect said he became hooked after seeing his friend use the drug and tried it himself. He pledged to quit drugs, expressing remorse toward his elderly aunt and younger sibling, and promised never to contact women this way again. Police proceeded with legal charges. The female teacher explained that the suspect initially requested to be Facebook friends, then persistently messaged her. When she grew curious about his identity, she devised a plan to uncover who he was and where he lived. She asked him to send photos, tricked him into a long conversation where he flirted with her, then reported all evidence to police. The teacher praised the police's swift action and expressed relief that the suspect would no longer harass others. She warned other women and children to be cautious of online scammers and sexual predators, urging everyone to be careful when using social media.
