Vietnam is accelerating its investigation into a food poisoning outbreak. According to reports from May 2, dozens of people have been hospitalized with suspected food poisoning in Quang Tri Province in central Vietnam after consuming bread purchased from a bakery in Tan Son Hamlet, Tan Lap Commune. Dr. Nguyen Viet Duc, director of Huong Hoa District Hospital, revealed that 60 food poisoning patients have been admitted for treatment between April 29 and May 1. Most victims are students aged 11-15 years old, with the youngest patient being 4 years old and the oldest 46 years old. The hospital reported that patients received intravenous fluids, oral rehydration solutions, antibiotics, and intensive treatment. All patients are now stable, though many continue to experience fever, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and fatigue. Local authorities have called an emergency meeting and ordered relevant agencies to accelerate the investigation. Health inspection teams have collected samples from suspected locations and cordoned off affected areas. Coordination with police and public health agencies is ongoing to maintain order, and schools are working to assess the situation and check for suspected cases among at-risk student groups.
