Tragedy: Strong Wind Sweeps Three Boys into Deep Water Channel; 8-Year-Old Drowns
A tragic drowning occurred at Nong Pla Lai Reservoir in Rayong when strong winds swept three boys into a deep water channel on May 10, 2569. A heartbreaking incident unfolded when strong winds swept three boys into a deep water channel at Nong Pla Lai Reservoir while they played along the shore. The father rescued two boys, but an 8-year-old drowned on the evening of May 10, 2569. Officers from Pluak Daeng Police Station in Rayong responded to reports of missing children in the reservoir near Soi 3 and Soi 4, Moo 1, Tambon Pluak Daeng, coordinating rescue teams and divers. At the scene, family members were found in deep distress. The preliminary investigation revealed that the family had come to the reservoir for recreation, with the father fishing nearby by boat while the three boys played in the water along the banks. Suddenly, a violent wind gust swept all three boys into the deep channel. Frightened and crying for help, the boys were swept underwater. Upon hearing their screams, the father urgently paddled back and managed to grab only two of them, while eight-year-old Satang was pulled under the current and drowned before their eyes. Over 50 rescue personnel, equipped with diving gear, conducted a search for more than an hour until they found the boy's body underwater. The body was brought to shore for preliminary examination by a medical examiner and police pathologist before being sent for detailed autopsy at Pluak Daeng Hospital.
