Luis Enrique Praises PSG's Defensive Display in Bayern Munich Victory, Hails Arsenal as Final Opponent
PSG advanced to the Champions League final after a 6-5 aggregate victory over Bayern Munich, with coach Luis Enrique praising his team's defensive solidity ahead of facing Arsenal in Budapest on May 30.
Luis Enrique, head coach of Paris Saint-Germain, praised his team's defensive performance that enabled them to overcome Bayern Munich while also commending Arsenal from England, who will be their Champions League final opponent this season.
In the second leg of the 2025-26 Champions League semi-final on May 6, Bayern drew 1-1 at home against defending champions PSG. The visiting team took the lead through Ousmane Dembélé in the 3rd minute, before the home side equalized through Harry Kane in the 90+4th minute.
Over two legs, PSG prevailed 6-5 on aggregate to reach the final for the second consecutive year, where they will face Arsenal from England. The final will be played at Puskás Aréna in Budapest, Hungary on May 30.
Enrique said: "Our defensive game was better than their attacking game. The determination we showed against a team at Bayern's level is something very positive. It was a tense and difficult match, and we're delighted to reach the final for the second year in a row."
The Spanish coach also commented: "I admire Mikel Arteta. We were teammates when we were young. He's done an excellent job with Arsenal. It will be a difficult game, but we believe in our way of playing football."
