Bow Meldaz Delighted with Natarach Award Win, Shows Off Boyfriend Returning from Cannes – Hints at Future Plans for Children at 35

Actress Bow Meldaz won her first Natarach Award for Best Leading Actress in a Drama series, coinciding with her boyfriend's return from the Cannes Film Festival. The Thai actress credited her comedy role and her senior's direction for the a

It's another night of pride for actress Bow Meldaz Sushree, who has just won a major Natarach Award for the first time in her life. Adding to the sweetness, she's also opened up about her boyfriend, Alec Theeradeej Methavarayut, who recently graced the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. This achievement marks a double triumph for both her career and her heart.

When asked what award she won, Bow explained: "The award is for 'Best Leading Actress' in Drama and Long Form Series. I'm incredibly happy about it. I honestly didn't think I would win since it was my first time here. When they announced my name, I was still joking around with friends. My senior told me not to look flustered on camera, so I tucked my hair back (mimicking the gesture)."

Asked if she was nervous when her name was called, she said: "Not at all. In that moment, I was just thinking I needed to remember my thank you speech. My senior also warned me not to look shocked when the camera catches me."

On whether she was ready to stand up when her name was announced: "Yes, I was ready. By that time, I had already chatted with friends and calmed my nerves. Even though I was nervous inside, I managed to get through it because my friends were so supportive."

Is this her first Natarach experience? "Yes, it's my first time at Natarach and my first time winning it too. Thank you very much to all the judges for this honor."

When asked if the Natarach Award is notoriously difficult to win in the industry, she responded: "Yes, it's quite stressful. People probably come to watch drama just to relax."

On what she thinks contributed to her win: "I really can't say for sure what made me win. Our drama is a comedy, so maybe it's because the entertainment industry and Thai society are quite stressed right now, and people seem to look back on things. I honestly don't know how they judged it. The judges might have appreciated the humor, but my senior really worked hard on this character, which I think was a big part of helping me get this award."

Regarding her character Khun Phi Jao Kha, Bow noted: "People kept saying I was playing myself. My senior once told me that truly playing yourself is not actually possible, so I thought a lot about how to make it not just me. That was the challenge and the intention I put into the performance, and it turned out to be successful."

When the drama aired and received great responses, Bow confirmed: "Yes, it was a masterpiece. Thank you to my senior and thank you to Diew for suggesting to my senior that I was available."

As for calling her boyfriend to brag about the win: "Not yet. I only told him that I looked beautiful today. He's walking around Cannes right now and is about to come back. He's flying down."

On how she plans to show off to her boyfriend: "Maybe we'll do a video call. It might not show my face, but this (holding up the award). For tonight, this award will be sleeping with us!"

Speaking directly to her boyfriend Alec: "Alec Theeradeej, right now Bow Meldaz has her own award. Besides being Thailand's SuperModel, I now also have the Natarach Award, officially verified."

Thongsak Mocks Sereepisut's Bid for Publicity, Insists Anuthtin Did Not Neglect Duty in Khao Kradong Land Row

Deputy PM Thongsak defended PM Anuthtin against negligence accusations in a Buriram land dispute, arguing residents hold legitimate government-issued titles and dismissing the Free Thai Party's planned charges as publicity seeking.

1d ago Khaosod

Deputy Prime Minister Thongsak Tongsri defended PM Anuthtin Charnvirakul against accusations of neglecting duties in the Khao Kradong land dispute on May 18, 2025, responding to Free Thai Party leader Sereepisut Temiyaves' plan to file charges in Buriram Province. Thongsak stated that as a Thai citizen, anyone can travel freely, and as for who occupies Khao Kradong, most residents possess legitimate ownership rights and land titles issued by the government's Land Department, which the Constitution protects. Those challenging these documents must provide evidence to refute them, he argued. When asked if Sereepisut had authority to investigate the matter, Thongsak said he likely wanted clarity. Dismissing the move as merely attention-seeking, Thongsak sarcastically noted "it's just news." When pressed on Sereepisut's threat to petition the Constitutional Court to remove PM Anuthtin, Interior Minister Chayachonk Chidchob, and Digital Economy Minister over alleged neglect of duty and serious ethical misconduct in the Khao Kradong case, Thongsak countered by asking whether the Prime Minister is even a land official—and if not, the matter doesn't concern him.

Playful Spider Monkey Gets Into Hair-Pulling Showdown with Zoo Staff, Revealed to Be the Park's Star Attraction

A spider monkey named Touwtouw at Shanghai Wild Animal Park went viral for playfully pulling a zookeeper's hair, revealing the park's most beloved attraction who roams freely and greets visitors daily.

1d ago Khaosod

A viral video of a spider monkey at Shanghai Wild Animal Park in China has captured the hearts of people online, showcasing a hilarious playful interaction between the monkey and a zookeeper. The monkey, named Touwtouw, stands on a wooden table and reaches for the staff member's hair, who gently taps back at the monkey's head in return—a back-and-forth tussle with no clear winner.

Zoo officials revealed that Touwtouw is an exceptionally cheerful and highly social monkey who is unafraid of people and loves interacting with visitors, sometimes even helping to style their hair. Raised by caretakers since infancy, Touwtouw has developed a special bond with his handlers. As he matured, his playful antics increased, with the hair-pulling seen in the video simply representing his typical friendly teasing rather than aggressive behavior.

The zoo emphasizes that as long as visitors don't squeeze or grab him forcefully, Touwtouw remains gentle and affectionate. Remarkably, he is the only spider monkey at the park allowed to roam freely, appearing three times daily near the zoo's restaurant and greeting visitors at the entrance during weekends. His popularity has made him a beloved icon among the park's guests.

A train driver and railway signal operator were detained and brought to Ratchada Criminal Court on May 18, 2569 following a catastrophic collision on May 16 that left 8 dead and over 30 injured. The freight train No. 2126 struck air-conditioned bus line 206 at the Makkasan railway crossing, triggering a massive fire. Investigators questioned Somyaporn, the train driver, and Uthen, the signal operator responsible for controlling the railway crossing barriers at the time of the incident, before transferring them to court for initial detention hearings. During custody transfer, Uthen briefly apologized when asked by reporters about the incident, but offered no explanation when questioned about why he didn't look back while signaling or why he lowered the barrier so quickly. Somyaporn, the train driver, appeared visibly distressed with red-rimmed eyes and a tense expression throughout questioning but refused to answer any questions, keeping his head down. Prosecutors opposed bail at both the investigation and court stages. Meanwhile, Lapis, the BMTA bus driver who suffered severe injuries and burns, remains hospitalized. Blood tests revealed no narcotics in his system. Police have not yet filed charges against him, pending recovery of his injuries so he can provide a statement. He is expected to face identical recklessness charges as the train driver once medical clearance is obtained.

NESDB Reveals Q1 GDP Growth Accelerates to 2.8%, Projects 2% Growth for Full Year

Thailand's economy accelerated to 2.8% growth in Q1 2025, driven by a surge in private investment and exports, though the country posted its first trade deficit in 14 quarters. The government projects 2% full-year growth but warns elevated

1d ago Khaosod

May 18, 2025 — Danuda Pitchyanan, Secretary-General of the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB), announced that Thailand's economy expanded 2.8% in Q1 2025, accelerating from 2.5% growth in Q4 2024.

The main growth driver was total investment expansion of 9.9%, the highest quarterly rate in 44 quarters since 2015, particularly private sector investment growth of 10.1% focused on machinery, equipment, and vehicle purchases.

Exports accelerated to 17.8% growth worth $95.096 billion, driven by electronics and electrical appliances aligned with global market demand. However, imports surged 33.1%, resulting in Thailand's first trade deficit in 14 quarters.

The tourism sector continued its expansion with total revenue of 759 billion baht, up 3.8%, welcoming 9.317 million foreign visitors.

Agricultural production grew 1.2% from increased yields of durian, mangosteen, and palm oil, but farmers' overall income declined 6.3% due to falling prices for rubber, pork, and rice.

On economic stability, unemployment stands at 0.91%, while public debt as of March 2025 reached 12.68 trillion baht, or 66.38% of GDP.

Pitchyanan projected full-year 2025 GDP growth of 1.5-2.5% with a midpoint of 2.0%, supported by continued consumption and private investment, plus increased government spending. Average inflation is now forecast at 2-3% with a midpoint of 2.5%, revised upward from the previous negative forecast of -0.3% to 0.7%.

"Our GDP projections already factor in the impact of Middle East tensions, including the 400 billion baht borrowing decree aimed at supporting cost of living and energy transition," Pitchyanan said. "While we expect the conflict to end mid-year, oil prices are expected to remain elevated, continuing to pressure inflation and living costs. The government must accelerate measures to protect household finances going forward."

Check These 5 Signs of Insulin Resistance That Often Appear Years Before Diabetes

Five early warning signs of insulin resistance—frequent hunger, belly fat, post-meal drowsiness, dark skin patches, and borderline blood sugar levels—can appear years before diabetes develops, according to a Nakhon Ratchasima hospital docto

1d ago Khaosod

Dr. Jetsadej Bunyavongwiroj, Deputy Director of Primary Care at Maha Rajah Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital, shared crucial information about diabetes on Facebook, highlighting five early warning signs of insulin resistance that appear years before diabetes onset. Diabetes doesn't develop overnight—the body typically goes through an insulin resistance phase for years before blood sugar rises enough to be detected, during which many people still have normal sugar levels and believe their health is fine, even though their insulin is working increasingly harder to keep blood sugar stable. When the pancreas eventually becomes exhausted, blood sugar spikes and diabetes develops, but the insulin resistance phase is the most reversible stage if caught early.

The five warning signs are: 1) Frequent and rapid hunger, especially for sweets, with feeling full quickly fading—this occurs because when the body is insulin resistant, sugar doesn't enter cells efficiently, so the brain feels energy-deprived despite high blood sugar. 2) Difficulty losing belly fat and easy weight gain, particularly around the waist, because insulin directly controls fat storage. 3) Drowsiness after meals and mental fog, especially after carb or sugar-heavy foods, as the body becomes exhausted when insulin surges to pull down elevated blood sugar. 4) Dark patches on the neck, armpits, or skin folds (Acanthosis Nigricans), a sign of chronic high insulin often seen in insulin-resistant people, especially those gaining weight rapidly. 5) Warning-level blood sugar values even before diabetes diagnosis—fasting blood sugar above 100 mg/dL or HbA1c above 5.7% indicates emerging risk.

Crucially, elevated fasting insulin levels (above 10–15 µIU/mL) or a high HOMA-IR score (above 2) also signal insulin resistance, particularly when combined with high triglycerides, low HDL cholesterol, or waist circumference exceeding 90 cm for men or 80 cm for women. To reduce insulin resistance, start with basics: walk 10–15 minutes after meals to help muscles use glucose, reduce sugary drinks, tea with condensed milk, and refined carbohydrates, ensure 7–9 hours of sleep, reduce waist circumference even without major weight loss, and regularly monitor HbA1c, lipids, and fasting blood sugar if at risk. In summary, insulin resistance typically begins years before diabetes and produces subtle warning signs like belly fat, frequent hunger, drowsiness after eating, and dark skin patches—the earlier intervention starts, the greater the chance of reversal.

Experts Explain Why Bangkok Residents Felt Tremors from Myanmar's 5.3 Magnitude Earthquake

A 5.3 magnitude earthquake off Myanmar's coast near Yangon on May 18 triggered tremors felt in Bangkok, with experts attributing the sensation to the city's soft soil amplifying seismic waves from the active Sagaing Fault 530 kilometers awa

1d ago Khaosod

A 5.3 magnitude earthquake off Myanmar's southern coast near Yangon on May 18, 2025, was felt in Bangkok. Dr. Amorn Pimanmas, chairman of the Thai Structural Engineers Association and lecturer at Kasetsart University's Faculty of Engineering, explained the earthquake's characteristics: it was moderate magnitude (5.3, below 6), shallow depth (about 10 km, less than 60 km underground), long-distance from Bangkok (approximately 530 kilometers), and occurred along the Sagaing Fault, a powerful active fault line.

Dr. Amorn noted that tall buildings in Bangkok normally sway during earthquakes because the city sits on soft soil that amplifies seismic waves. While residents in high-rises felt the tremors, the moderate magnitude and considerable distance meant no structural damage to buildings was expected.

However, ongoing monitoring is necessary because the Sagaing Fault extends 1,200-1,400 kilometers. Officials noted that in March 2024, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Mandalay over 1,000 kilometers away but caused severe shaking in Bangkok, damaging hundreds of buildings and even causing a government audit office under construction to collapse. Since today's earthquake occurred in the lower section of the Sagaing Fault—closer than Mandalay's epicenter—relevant agencies and the public should remain prepared, as earthquakes cannot be predicted in advance.

Police Institute Rushes to Identify Train-Bus Collision Victims, DNA Results Expected Within 1-2 Days

Forensic teams are working urgently to identify eight victims from a train-bus collision and fire at the Asoke-Dindeang railway crossing, with DNA results expected within 1-2 days after families provided samples for comparison.

1d ago Khaosod

Following a train-bus collision at the Asoke-Dindeang railroad crossing that resulted in a massive fire and eight deaths, the Forensic Institute at Police Hospital is urgently working to identify the victims. Most of the bodies were severely damaged by fire, making identification difficult.

At 10:00 AM on May 18, 2025, Police Major General Wirun Suphsingsiripricha, director of the Forensic Institute at Police Hospital, reported that families of seven missing persons have come forward and provided DNA samples—six Thai families and one Myanmar family. One additional family is being contacted to provide samples for comparison.

DNA results from the seven bodies are expected to be available this evening or tomorrow, after which officials will cross-reference the results with the missing persons list reported to Makkasan Police Station to confirm identities before issuing legal documents. The full process is expected to take 1-2 more days, allowing families to claim bodies for religious ceremonies by Wednesday or Thursday.

Regarding two names that were previously circulated as victims, authorities clarified these did not come from the Forensic Institute, as official identification has not yet been confirmed due to severe fire damage. They are awaiting forensic results and confirmation from investigators before releasing names.

This morning, investigators found one additional human tissue fragment, bringing the total to four fragments, which are being tested to match them with the eight known victims. Officials believe these are parts of the eight deceased, not a ninth victim, as the pieces are small—primarily arms and legs.

Identification has been complicated by fire damage to fingerprints and teeth, requiring forensic teams to rely on blood and bone samples for DNA testing and comparison with family DNA samples.

The Forensic Institute is also appealing to one remaining family that suspects a relative may have been lost in the incident to come provide DNA samples. They ask that direct relatives come forward with only a national ID card.

China Blacklists 17 Thai Companies Over Smuggled Chicken Feet Exports; Hunt Underway for Smugglers Posing as Thai Producers

China has blacklisted 17 Thai chicken processing companies worth over 30 billion baht in lost exports after smugglers illegally shipped foreign chicken feet under false Thai credentials, exceeding the country's actual production capacity.

1d ago Khaosod

On May 18, 2025, former Pheu Thai list MP Nikhom Bunyavises disclosed that multiple chicken processing companies have lodged complaints about being unable to export chicken feet to China due to smuggling operations impersonating legitimate Thai producers and illegally shipping chicken feet to China in their place.

China's authorities grew dissatisfied when an inspection revealed that chicken feet volumes sent from Thailand exceeded actual production capacity. This prompted swift action from China's food safety agencies, which blacklisted 17 out of 22 Thai companies, resulting in over 30 billion baht in lost export value.

Bunyavises stated that business operators have petitioned Agriculture Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit to help resolve the issue and urgently track down the smugglers shipping foreign chicken feet under false Thai credentials to China.

The General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC), a ministry-level agency overseeing all import-export controls, taxes, and safety standards, previously sent warning letters to relevant Thai agencies demanding investigation and correction, citing impacts on Chinese safety standards. However, these warnings were largely ignored.

GACC has now issued a fourth warning letter to the Department of Livestock at the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, cautioning that continued disregard of its concerns could damage bilateral relations and undermine Chinese confidence in other Thai exports.

The issue has persisted since July 2024 without apparent action from responsible agencies. Over the past ten months, across two administrations, business operators have appealed to government bodies and the Ministry of Agriculture without receiving adequate responses. "If this continues, all 17 affected companies could face closure or downsizing, impacting significant numbers of workers," Bunyavises warned.

As a former Pheu Thai MP and representative of a coalition government party, Bunyavises pledged to investigate the truth and resolve the crisis to preserve Thailand's exports and restore Chinese confidence before the situation deteriorates further.
