Phradon Questions Whether Serei's Constitutional Court Petition on Khao Krajom is Political Gamesmanship or Legitimate Action

General Serei seeks constitutional court intervention over alleged inaction by PM Anutin and Interior Minister Chayachon regarding Khao Krajom land seizure, prompting Prime Minister's Office Minister Phradon to question whether the petition

1d ago Khaosod

On May 18, 2025, at Government House, Phradon Parisnanantakul, Prime Minister's Office Minister and Thai Pride Party leader, addressed the case of General Serei Temiyawes, a Free Unionist Party list MP, who is preparing to petition the Constitutional Court. The petition seeks to determine whether PM Anutin Charnvirakul and Interior Minister Chayachon Chidchob violated ethics standards by failing to act on seizing Khao Krajom land, which Serei claims is his legal right to pursue through proper procedures. Phradon stated that the land return process is currently at the stage where the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) is filing lawsuits against individual plot holders, which are proceeding through the justice system. When asked whether the constitutional court petition at this time would impact the Prime Minister, Phradon said the justice process would continue regardless. He added that while Serei has the right to pursue a removal effort if he has concerns, whether such action can succeed depends on what the constitution and laws allow. When asked if this constitutes political gamesmanship, Phradon suggested that question should be directed to Serei himself.

Neymar Furious Over Referee's Substitution Blunder, Missing Chance to Impress Carlo Ancelotti Ahead of 2026 World Cup Selection

A referee's substitution error removed Neymar from a Santos match in the 65th minute, robbing the Brazilian star of a chance to impress coach Carlo Ancelotti who was evaluating players for the 2026 World Cup squad.

1d ago Khaosod

Brazilian star Neymar was left fuming after a referee mistakenly substituted him out of a Santos match against Coritiba in the 65th minute, costing him a crucial opportunity to showcase his abilities in front of Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti who was watching the game to evaluate players for the 2026 World Cup squad.

The incident occurred in the 65th minute when Santos were losing to Coritiba. While Neymar was receiving treatment on the sideline, Santos requested a substitution to bring on Robinho Junior to replace Gonzalo Escobar. However, the referee mistakenly held up the number 10 sign to remove Neymar instead.

Neymar lost his composure and angrily displayed the substitution sheet to the broadcast cameras. Despite receiving a yellow card, he was eventually forced to leave the pitch since once a replacement player enters after a legitimate substitution request, the decision cannot be reversed according to the rules.

After the match, Santos issued a statement saying: "The fourth official made a clear substitution error, as evidenced by the paperwork. This is an inexplicable mistake that has not been corrected."

Neymar, who has been dealing with injury problems, was hoping to make an impression on the pitch to boost his chances of returning to the national team under Ancelotti's new era.

Thai Military to Propose Cabinet Approval for Four-Dimensional Joint Command Unit, Pushing Autonomous Systems Enhancement

Thailand's military is seeking Cabinet approval to establish a joint command unit for autonomous systems, aiming to enhance defense capabilities across land, sea, air, and cyber domains by fiscal year 2570.

1d ago Khaosod

On May 18, 2569, at Royal Thai Air Force headquarters, Pol. Lt. Gen. Withai Laitoummya, spokesperson for the Armed Forces Headquarters, announced that military commanders have proposed guidelines for developing joint autonomous systems capabilities—advanced technology that can analyze and make decisions independently. The operational framework is divided into three levels: (1) human-in-the-loop systems where humans make final decisions, such as attack drones and explosive ordnance disposal robots; (2) semi-autonomous systems that operate under supervision with periodic human intervention, such as unmanned vessels and autonomous vehicle convoys; and (3) fully autonomous systems that operate completely independently and will be deployed in high-risk environments inaccessible to humans, such as drone swarms or autonomous mine-clearing systems.

The benefits of implementing autonomous systems include five key advantages: rapid response, continuous 24-hour operation, reduced battlefield risk, precision target acquisition through sensor networks, and integrated data linkage across land, sea, air, and cyber domains.

The Armed Forces have already implemented autonomous systems including AI-powered cyber threat detection, drones for evacuation and transport operations, and mine-clearing vehicles. For future planning, the Armed Forces aim to establish a new unit, with expectations that fiscal year 2570 will see the creation of the "Thai Armed Forces Joint Capabilities Command" (JCC). Currently operating under internal orders as a pilot program, the proposal awaits Cabinet approval and will coordinate with multiple sectors including the Ministry of Defence, the Defence Industry Department, and leading educational institutions such as Chulalongkorn University, Mahidol University, and Chiang Mai University to develop domestically-produced unmanned aerial systems and counter-drone capabilities, while also revising laws that hinder research and development.

"Joint planning and procurement of mutually compatible systems across all dimensions—land, sea, air, and cyber—represents an effort to ensure all systems can interconnect and operate together at full efficiency and deliver practical operational results," the statement concluded.

ONEB Calls on Thais to Drive Global Future on International Biodiversity Day

Thailand's environmental agency hosts International Biodiversity Day on May 22 in Bangkok, calling on all sectors to drive conservation efforts and shift public perception that biodiversity protection directly impacts everyone's daily life

1d ago Khaosod

The Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEB) under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will host activities for International Biodiversity Day 2025 on Friday, May 22 at the Convention Center of Rama Gardens Hotel in Bangkok under the theme 'Acting Locally for Global Impact.' The event aims to build understanding and awareness of biodiversity's importance and promote sustainable conservation and use of biological diversity, emphasizing the role of all sectors in achieving global targets. The activity seeks to shift public perception by showing that biodiversity is not a distant concern but directly affects everyone's quality of life—including food, water, air, health, economics, and future natural resource security. Activities include exhibitions titled 'Guardians of Biodiversity Protection' featuring contributions from government agencies, private companies, educational institutions, and partner networks. A key highlight is the presentation of certificates to areas recognized as Other Effective Area-based Conservation Measures (OECMs). Three major panel discussions will take place: a special session introducing Princess Sirindhorn's book 'Some of My Observations on Biodiversity in Thailand,' a discussion on strengthening networks for biodiversity change featuring representatives from the Office of Bioeconomy Development, the Thai Business Council for Sustainable Development, and Mahidol University, and a session on Thai business and the Nature Positive agenda led by the Global Compact Network Thailand. ONEB states that insights and recommendations from participants will help Thailand prepare for the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP 17) to be held in Armenia in late October 2025, emphasizing that protecting biodiversity is a collective responsibility of all people to preserve the world for future generations.

General Perm highlighted that this marks the first time tactical airsoft shooting has been included as a medal sport at the National Youth Games. The association selected Action Air—a lightweight air-powered pistol competition—for its suitability in developing youth skills, high safety standards, and feasibility for indoor venues. Sister of "Aunt Tiam" Victim in Train-Bus Collision Weeps, Wants Her Sister's Life Back

A 57-year-old housemaid from Sisaket Province died in a train-bus collision at a Bangkok railroad crossing, leaving her sister devastated after their final video call just hours before the crash that killed eight people.

1d ago Khaosod

The sister of Tiam Puangyord, a 57-year-old victim from Sisaket Province who died in a train-bus collision, tearfully revealed that their last video call one hour before the accident seemed ominous. The incident occurred when a train struck Route 206 bus at the Asokaempetra-Petchburi railroad crossing in Bangkok, killing eight people and injuring several others.

Tiam had worked as a housemaid in Bangkok for over 40 years, leaving at age 15 to support her family. Her home in Krataidorn Sub-district, Prang Ku District was filled with grief as relatives and neighbors came to pay respects.

Nang Chum, 59, Tiam's second-oldest sister, said they were extremely close despite living apart, calling or video-chatting almost daily. On the day of the accident around 2 p.m., they had their last video call where Tiam joked about winning lottery money. Chum noticed something unusual about her sister's face that seemed foreboding.

"She said she'd take the bus back to her room to check lottery results. Around 3 p.m., she didn't answer my calls. Around 4 p.m., I heard a train had hit a bus, but didn't know if she was on it. When the victim list came out and I saw her name, I was shocked," Chum said.

Chum described her sister as hardworking, patient, and devoted to family. Despite years of labor, she never complained, always brought gifts when visiting during Buddhist merit-making season, and regularly made merit at temples and helped others. Chum questioned why the train operator didn't brake despite warning signals and red flags in the area.

Doctors Recommend 'Miracle Fruit' to Relieve Constipation and Prevent Colorectal Cancer

A London colorectal surgeon recommends eating kiwi fruit to quickly relieve constipation and reduce colorectal cancer risk, along with coffee, nuts, and yogurt to support digestive health.

1d ago Khaosod

Doctors recommend a 'miracle fruit' that can quickly relieve constipation and help prevent colorectal cancer, along with a list of four healthy foods. Compiled by Sanook Online news team on May 18, 2025, reporting from international media.

While prunes are well-known for stimulating bowel function, there is another lesser-known fruit that may deliver equally good or even better results, according to renowned gastroenterology expert Dr. Karan Rajan, a colorectal surgeon from London and a popular social media personality. He revealed that just one kiwi fruit may help quickly relieve constipation.

Dr. Rajan shared a TikTok video with his 5.3 million followers highlighting four foods backed by scientific evidence that can promote bowel health:

1. Kiwi Dr. Rajan noted that kiwis are rich in soluble fiber, which absorbs water and forms a gel-like substance in the intestines, softening stools and increasing bowel movement frequency. When consumed in large quantities, kiwis can relieve constipation nearly as effectively as laxatives, but without the side effects commonly associated with medications. Other foods high in soluble fiber include figs, avocados, flaxseeds, and apples.

Data shows that about 1 in 7 adults and up to 1 in 3 children in the UK have experienced constipation at least once. While occasional constipation is harmless, chronic constipation is considered a potential risk factor for colorectal cancer. Research has found that a slow, prolonged digestive system may increase the risk of gastrointestinal cancer by up to 1.5 times, as toxins accumulate in the intestines when waste remains for extended periods. Therefore, regular bowel movements are crucial.

2. Coffee Dr. Rajan also identified coffee as another beneficial beverage for gut health. This drink has consistently been linked to reduced risk of fatty liver disease and cirrhosis. He explained that coffee contains both soluble fiber and polyphenols, which act as prebiotics to nourish beneficial bacteria in the intestines and stimulate intestinal movement, potentially reducing constipation. Interestingly, both instant coffee and decaffeinated coffee offer the same benefits.

3. Mixed Nuts The third food recommendation is mixed nuts such as almonds, walnuts, and pistachios, which Dr. Rajan says he tries to eat every day. He noted that different varieties of nuts provide different prebiotic fibers that increase microbial diversity in the gut. He referenced research showing that regular daily consumption of about 20-30 grams of nuts is associated with reduced cancer risk, possibly due to reduced inflammation and increased diversity of beneficial gut bacteria.

4. Yogurt The final food on the list is yogurt, which Dr. Rajan describes as a favorite among doctors and nutritionists. Particularly yogurt containing live microorganisms such as Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium helps increase the amount of beneficial microbes in the intestines. Research also supports its ability to relieve symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, including constipation.
