Security guard arrested after stabbing woman with jealous rage; husband in Taiwan sees news and calls for divorce
A security guard in Udon Thani stabbed a 31-year-old woman with a spatula knife after a jealous argument, then fled on a stolen motorcycle; her husband in Taiwan initiated divorce proceedings after learning of the attack.
Police arrested Saravut, 29, from Chiang Pin subdistrict in Udon Thani's city district, who used a spatula knife to stab 31-year-old Ms. A, leaving severe wounds on both her arms before stealing a neighbor's motorcycle and fleeing. The incident occurred on the evening of May 24 in the Udon Thani municipal community. Police tracked him down and arrested him at his residence early the next morning. During interrogation, Saravut confessed to knowing Ms. A through Facebook for a year before they started dating. He admitted he had used methamphetamine that morning, worked a security shift, then drank heavily with friends. He called Ms. A in the evening and they argued about his jealous suspicion that she had found a new boyfriend. In his drunken state, he followed her home, and when the argument escalated, he stabbed her with a knife he carried for work, claiming he hadn't planned the attack and felt remorseful.
Ms. A revealed that she is already married with one child, with her husband currently working in Taiwan. Last year she discovered her husband communicating inappropriately with another woman, so she became lonely and decided to date Saravut. When her husband found out, she ended the affair with Saravut. Later, when she discovered her husband communicating with another woman again, she reconnected with Saravut. At first he was kind, but recently became increasingly jealous and accused her of seeking a new boyfriend, returning to her ex-husband, or finding a foreign husband. She said he called constantly the day before until she grew annoyed. He then followed her to a papaya salad shop demanding she unblock him on Facebook and tried to grab her phone. She noticed something at his back and when she resisted, he drew a knife and stabbed her. She stated that her husband in Taiwan learned of the incident through the news and called to ask for a divorce, and she is prepared to live alone and work to support their child.
