Police Identify Suspects in Durian Attack on 48-Year-Old Woman During Morning Run at Provincial Hall

Two men attacked a 48-year-old woman with a durian rind at Chachoengsao Provincial Hall's exercise track; police have identified suspects and expect arrests soon.

5h ago Khaosod

A violent assault occurred at the exercise track in front of Chachoengsao Provincial Hall when Ms. A, 48, was attacked by two men who struck her face forcefully with a durian rind before assaulting her body. Other exercisers at the facility intervened to help, causing the attackers to abandon the durian and flee on a motorcycle. Deputy Police Region Commander Somchai Ayu-sawat revealed on May 19 that investigators are reviewing closed-circuit camera footage along the escape route and have preliminary information about the perpetrators, with arrests expected soon. Police believe the motive was personal dispute rather than robbery or extortion, since no property was stolen and the targeted nature of the attack suggests deliberate harm. The incident has not deterred local exercisers from using the well-lit facility, with many viewing it as an isolated personal matter.

Bo Benjamorn and Bank Patthorn are happily in love, sincere with each other, and those around them approve

Actress Bo Benjamorn revealed she froze her eggs three years ago and is now happily dating newscaster Bank Patthorn, who is open to having children together despite already being a father.

5h ago Khaosod

Actress Bo Benjamorn Ardnerner is absolutely glowing with happiness alongside handsome newscaster Bank Patthorn Pannyayong. Recently on May 18th, Bo attended the launch of VFC & BB Clinic, a comprehensive reproductive medicine and beauty health center on Sukhumvit Soi 11, and gave interviews with a radiant smile, clearly head over heels in love.

When asked about egg freezing, Bo revealed: "I already froze my eggs three years ago. At that time, many things were changing in my life. It was a major transition period, and I wasn't sure what the future held or who my future partner would be, so I decided to preserve that option. When I turned 36, I felt like I was still within the acceptable range, but if I waited longer it might be too late or the quality might not be as good. My friends who started freezing in their early 30s told me the earlier the better, so I felt it was the right time."

When asked if she was certain about having children then, she said: "I wasn't certain. Honestly, I wasn't sure about having kids. I didn't know what my future partner would be like at that time. I initially felt discouraged because I didn't have a partner and would have to do it alone. Halfway through, I almost gave up, but in the end, I got a good number of eggs, so I'm proud of that decision."

Asked if she was single when she did it, Bo explained: "Yes, I was single. It wasn't something I planned initially—the lifestyle didn't seem to fit. But after that process ended, I thought about the future. When Bank and I started talking, I felt he could be a family man and a good father, so I decided to open that possibility. Even now, I'm not sure how I'll be as a mother or when this might happen."

When asked if she'd ever imagined herself as a mother, Bo said: "Honestly, never. Even now I haven't. Right now I'm a dog mom. I think I'd be a mix of both my parents—my mother was strict but my father was a spoiler. I'd like to combine those qualities—tough sometimes, chill sometimes, spoil sometimes, and strict sometimes. I think balance would give the best result."

On whether Bank is on board, Bo shared: "Before we decided to be together, we discussed everything—our future, whether our goals aligned. He already has children, so I asked if he'd be okay if I wanted kids in the future. He was open to it. If I want kids but he doesn't, that's okay, we'd understand each other. But when I asked, he said he's very open to it. We're both quite open about it."

When asked if they're not closing the door on anything, Bo said: "Right now we're at the point of being boyfriend and girlfriend, and we want to fully experience this stage together—traveling, doing activities, learning together. Moving to the next step might be too fast right now. Taking it slower might be better."

Asked if she radiates happiness when talking about this, Bo smiled: "It's very sweet. I'm just happy. I like this version of myself because I can be completely myself, whether I'm with him or not."

Senator Chaiyong Reveals Smuggling Routes in Southern Thailand Due to Strategic Coastal Geography

Senator Chaiyong Maneerungsukul says southern Thailand's two-sided coastal access and borders with Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia make it a strategic smuggling hub, with contraband now distributed across multiple provinces and sold incr

5h ago Khaosod

Senator Chaiyong Maneerungsukul, secretary and spokesperson for the Senate's Military and National Security Committee, has revealed that southern Thailand's smuggling routes benefit from advantageous geography, with coastal access on two sides and borders with Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. These routes are ideal for transporting contraband while evading authorities, though some overlook that certain goods like cigarettes also come from Cambodia via vehicles, albeit in smaller quantities than through southern routes.

Regarding narcotics, approximately 50% of drugs entering Thailand from the northern border eventually concentrate in Songkhla and Narathiwat provinces alone. Chaiyong explained that these southern border provinces serve as a gateway to Europe, Malaysia, Singapore, and Turkey, where illicit goods are redistributed globally. Smuggling patterns have evolved—previously illegal cigarettes primarily came from Malaysia, but now flow both ways between Malaysia and Thailand.

Contraband distribution has become decentralized across nearly all southern provinces rather than concentrating in Hat Yai alone, reflecting smugglers' strategic shift to reduce risk. Illegal cigarettes now arrive through various routes, such as from Langkawi to Trang's coastal districts including Pakphanang, Sikao, and Hadsai, instead of following traditional paths. The three southern border provinces—Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat—serve as major distribution hubs due to high demand and large consumer markets.

Smugglers have adapted their methods significantly. Rather than maintaining large warehouses, they now use dispersed distribution networks resembling ant colonies across multiple locations. Transportation increasingly relies on private carriers and postal services instead of traditional methods, while sales have shifted predominantly to online platforms. The Digital Economy and Society Ministry reported blocking over 400,000 illegal URLs in the first five months of fiscal year 2569 (October 2568–February 2569), reflecting a severe crisis of illegal goods proliferating online.

Chaiyong noted that smuggling operations continuously evolve—once authorities identify a method, operators immediately adapt their tactics. Today, illegal goods sales across multiple categories, not just cigarettes, increasingly rely on online channels, making enforcement extremely difficult for authorities.

5h ago Khaosod

Following his resignation as Bangkok governor on May 18, Chadchart Sittiphan announced his candidacy for a second term on May 19, launching his campaign with messages displayed on 37 LED billboards along the Chaloem Mahanakorn elevated highway. The campaign centers on his 'Bangkok Works' concept, emphasizing that a city's purpose is to create opportunities for all residents through improved economics, education, and health. His legal team has blocked unauthorized use of his image, name, and logo on joint billboards with other candidates.

Chadchart's campaign tagline is 'City Creates Opportunity, Team Chadchart Creates Hope,' with messages appearing on billboards stating 'City Creates Opportunity,' 'Team Chadchart,' 'Creates Hope,' and reminders that the gubernatorial election is June 28. Chadchart emphasized that successful work requires enjoyment and passion, and that his team is motivated by hope rather than personal gain. He stressed that Bangkok must compete globally in the coming four years, not just improve domestically, as cities worldwide are rapidly changing due to technology. The campaign aims to reinforce the election date and inspire public participation in choosing Bangkok's next governor.

Bangkok delivery rider struck by train near recent fatal collision sceneLegacyA food delivery rider suffered serious injuries after being struck by a train while urinating next to the railway track along Kampaengphet 7 Road, near the site of the recent fatal collision between a train and a bus. Rescue workers were called to the railway track near the Mercure Bangkok Makkasan hotel at about 11am. The injured man, whose identity has not been disclosed, was reported to be working as a food delivery rider. According to Amarin TV, the victim suffered multiple severe injuries and was unconscious when rescuers arrived at the scene. Emergency responders provided first aid before transporting him to a nearby hospital. Officers from Makkasan Police Station are investigating the incident to determine the exact cause of the collision. Photo via Facebook/ THAI PRESS A witness told police the rider had parked his motorcycle before going to urinate beside the railway track. The witness also suspected the rider may not have heard the approaching train because he was wearing earphones and a motorcycle helmet. The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) later clarified that the accident was the result of reckless behaviour on the part of the victim. The man had been found parking his motorcycle in a prohibited area, climbing over the barrier that separated the road from the railway track in order to urinate. The SRT insisted that the train driver had sounded the horn in an attempt to alert the victim, but to no avail. The train was unable to stop in time, leading to the crash. Officials urged people not to enter prohibited areas, pointing out that the incident caused life-threatening injuries to the victim and delayed the train by over 22 minutes, affecting all passengers on board and at stations along the route. Photo via Facebook/ THAI PRESS The incident attracted a lot of attention online because it happened near the site of the fatal train-bus collision in Bangkok on Saturday, 16 May, which involved a container train and a public bus. That collision happened after the bus became trapped at a red light on the railway crossing while the train driver, who was under influence of drug, reportedly failed to respond in time to warnings about the obstruction. Following the collision, officials urged motorists to obey railway crossing regulations and to avoid stopping within five metres of the tracks. However, in the days after the crash, social media users continued to share images and videos of motorists parking on railway crossings during traffic congestion, similar to the rider who placed himself in a risky area. The story Bangkok delivery rider struck by train near recent fatal collision scene as seen on Thaiger News.

Sirikanya Agrees World Cup Broadcasting Rights Not Worth the Cost; Criticizes Rushing to Promise Free Viewing, Weakening Negotiating Power

A Pheu Thai deputy leader agrees the World Cup broadcasting rights are too costly for the government and criticized rushing to promise free viewing, which weakened negotiating power and prevented cost reductions.

6h ago Khaosod

At noon on May 19, 2025, at Pheu Thai Party headquarters, Sirikanya Tansukul, a party-list MP and deputy party leader, commented on the government's possible withdrawal from World Cup broadcasting rights. She expressed confusion about the government's shifting statements—initially claiming it wouldn't use state funds, then announcing a withdrawal without clarification. She questioned whether alternative funding sources like the USO (Universal Service Obligation) fund or the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission development fund would be tapped instead, noting the government's inconsistency makes it unclear. She suggested World Cup rights no longer qualify as essential expenditure.

Sirikanya advocated for private sector investment in broadcasting rights, with private entities independently assessing risks, profits, and handling negotiations themselves. She pointed out that hastily promising free viewing to Thais undermines the government's negotiating leverage—initially the cost was 1.3 billion baht but couldn't be negotiated down further once the public commitment was made.

When asked if Deputy Prime Minister Suphamas's position that World Cup rights are too expensive and should be handled by the private sector is correct, Sirikanya agreed, noting the value is difficult to assess since benefits like public happiness and sports inspiration are hard to quantify. She urged the government to preserve funds if it lacks money, and called on the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission to ensure alternative funds align with their original purpose of serving low-income and disabled populations, not World Cup broadcasting. "We've already made one mistake; let's not make another," she concluded.
