Fresh and Jumping! Australian Bloke Shocked to Find Live Frog Hiding in Salad Bag
A Western Australian farmer discovered a live frog hidden in a bag of supermarket salad, which he and his housemates named Greg before releasing it to a nearby pond while playing the "Crazy Frog" song.
A bizarre incident that went viral in Australia occurred when Rye Smoker, a young farmer from Esperance in Western Australia, found a live frog hidden inside a bag of salad he purchased from a major supermarket while preparing dinner at home.
Smoker was preparing steak and salad for two housemates when he noticed something moving inside the sealed plastic bag of fresh vegetables. At first he thought he was seeing things, but upon closer inspection discovered a small frog hiding among the fresh leaves.
When he told his housemates, they didn't believe him, as it seemed nearly impossible for a frog to be in a supermarket salad bag. However, Smoker showed them the bag in person, and everyone was shocked and amused to discover the frog was indeed real.
After composing themselves, the group decided to name the frog "Greg" before releasing it safely into a nearby pond. But the story doesn't end there—they played the famous "Crazy Frog" song as they sent Greg back home.
Billy Lee Pine, Jones's boyfriend, explained they wanted to do something funny as a farewell to the frog, so they chose to play Crazy Frog, the famous dance track from the Swedish CGI animation character, creating a moment that was both hilarious and heartwarming.
The problematic salad bag was purchased from Woolworths supermarket on the same day the frog was discovered. The company released a statement saying this was an isolated incident with no additional similar reports, and confirmed they were urgently investigating with their supplier.
This isn't the first time animals have turned up in Australian supermarkets. Previously, customers have found large pythons on shelves in Sydney, and a venomous snake attached to fresh vegetables in a plastic bag in 2021, making Greg's story yet another bizarre tale circulating widely online.
