Dashcam Footage Reveals Tragic Moment: Motorcycle Veers Off Curve and Crashes into Pickup Truck, Killing Father and Two Children
A motorcycle carrying a father and two children veered off a curve into an oncoming pickup truck in Surat Thani on May 22, killing all three occupants during the morning school run.
At 7:26 a.m. on May 22, 2025, officers from Muang Surat Thani Police Station received a report of a vehicle collision on Soi Sri Vichai 21 (Takhak intersection) in Makham Tia subdistrict, Muang district, Surat Thani province. Emergency responders, hospital doctors, and rescue workers rushed to the scene on a two-lane road where they found two fatalities: a 47-year-old man named Kittipat (surname withheld) and a 6-year-old first-grade student (name withheld as Child A). An additional serious injury victim, an 11-year-old fifth-grade student (name withheld as Child B), was transported to Surat Thani Hospital but later succumbed to injuries.
A red Ford pickup truck bearing Sakon Nakhon license plates, driven by Ms. Nipaphat (surname withheld), was found at the scene with a Honda Click motorcycle bearing Surat Thani plates lodged beneath it.
Initial investigation reveals that the deceased man was the adoptive father of both boys and was riding the motorcycle to take them to school. The pickup truck driver has been taken in for witness questioning at Muang Surat Thani Police Station.
Dashcam footage from the pickup truck shows that the motorcycle lost control on the curve and veered directly into the path of the pickup truck, which was traveling in its proper lane at full impact, resulting in the three fatalities.
