UDON THANI — May 19, 2026: A female university student in northeastern Thailand has filed a police complaint after alleging that a senior student, who is the son of a police officer, climbed into her room before dawn to confront and apologize over a personal dispute.

Police in Udon Thani said the complaint was lodged on the evening of May 18 by a 54-year-old apartment owner identified as Narumon and a 21-year-old fourth-year university student identified by the pseudonym "A."

The complaint included CCTV footage allegedly showing 21-year-old Kittipong, a senior student at the same university, entering the student's accommodation at approximately 5:02 a.m. on May 18. According to the footage, Kittipong arrived home on a motorcycle at 4:59 a.m. before leaving shortly afterwards. He paused to observe his surroundings before crossing the road toward the victim's apartment building.

He was then seen climbing over the apartment fence while carrying what appeared to be a flashlight, heading to the rear of the student's room and entering the property. Police said he remained inside for around 30 minutes.

At 5:36 a.m., CCTV footage showed him climbing back out of the apartment compound, crossing the road, and returning home.

After receiving the complaint, investigators and patrol officers from Muang Udon Thani Police Station inspected the scene and questioned nearby residents. During the inquiry, officers discovered that the neighboring homeowner was a police officer. A review of evidence and CCTV footage identified the alleged intruder as the officer's son.

Police said Kittipong admitted his actions in front of his father and investigators after being confronted with the evidence. He allegedly told police that he climbed from his family home into the apartment compound and entered the student's room through an unlocked rear door.

When questioned about his motive, Kittipong said he wanted to discuss and resolve tensions and apologize to the student over an earlier disagreement involving jealousy from his girlfriend, who had become suspicious of the woman and unfollowed her on Instagram.

The student said she had always respected him as a senior student who had helped her with academic work, and stressed that she already had a boyfriend and had never viewed the relationship romantically.

"If he genuinely wanted to talk or apologize, he should have come to the front door during normal hours when people were awake," she said. "Instead, he climbed the fence and entered my room at 5:00 a.m. while I was asleep. It has caused me serious fear and anxiety."

Investigators said witness statements had been recorded and that the suspect would be formally summoned for questioning as legal proceedings continue.

The Chaiyaphum Provincial Police Commander has ordered the cancellation of all traffic checkpoints and alcohol breath testing stations, citing concerns about damage to public confidence following widespread social media criticism. Following public backlash online regarding police officers' conduct at various checkpoint operations, which raised suspicion and eroded confidence in the police organization, Pol. Maj. Gen. Suchart Phanlek, the Chaiyaphum Provincial Police Commander, issued an order canceling previous directives authorizing traffic discipline checkpoints, alcohol testing points, traffic law enforcement operations, and crime prevention checkpoints at all police stations under his jurisdiction. Weerawuth Backs CP Chairman's Push to Elevate Agriculture and SMEs, Accelerates Solar Panel Standards

Industry Minister Weerawuth backs CP's push to elevate agriculture and SMEs while accelerating mandatory solar panel safety standards set for early 2027. The government emphasizes renewable energy's strategic importance and proper solar ins

10h ago Khaosod

On May 19, 2025, at Government House, Industry Minister Weerawuth Silpaacha discussed proposals from joint consultations with CP Chairman and the private sector. CP Chairman Thanin Chearavanont noted that Thailand possesses renewable energy above ground, which is more important than underground oil reserves, emphasizing that even with military budgets, armed forces need food to operate. This aligns with the Prime Minister's agricultural industry policy, which Weerawuth discussed with Deputy PM and Commerce Minister Supachai Suthaphand on May 18 regarding how to maintain quality Thai fruit year-round or extract high-value compounds for export, supporting Thailand's food security.

The ministry is also supporting SMEs, whose main challenges are small and medium scale operations. Beyond loan measures, SMD Bank will coordinate with various agencies and provide not just funding but also workforce development knowledge. Weerawuth emphasized using a unified industrial policy framework to elevate SMEs.

Weerawuth noted that many citizens are installing solar rooftops to reduce electricity costs and use cleaner energy, but safety in equipment selection and installation meeting standards is critical. The Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) has issued comprehensive standards covering solar panels, inverters, converters, batteries, wiring, design, and system testing, being pushed as mandatory standards by early 2027.

The ministry will also release a solar installation safety guide. Before installation, homeowners should determine which system type suits them: on-grid connecting to the power grid, off-grid using separate power, or hybrid systems, based on budget and usage needs. Equipment must carry TISI or international certification marks, with proper wiring and inverters selected to prevent electrical hazards.

Installation should use certified skilled technicians with post-installation support available. Homeowners should regularly inspect panels, wiring, and control boxes, and install CO2 fire extinguishers. In emergencies, never spray water directly on electrical equipment or panels; shut down the system first and alert firefighters that the home has a solar installation for safe response.

Army Region 2 clarifies that 'Uncle Yochon' crossed border by mistake; admits to forest foraging, entered Cambodia territory

10h ago Khaosod

Army Region 2, through the Surin Nari Task Force, assigned Special Task Unit 2 to conduct a field investigation into the case of Mr. Yochon Saiyai, who was detained by Cambodian military near Ta Leng Pass in Kab Choeng District, Surin Province. The investigation was initiated after rumors circulated on social media that Cambodian soldiers had illegally arrested someone inside Thai territory, creating public confusion.

The field investigation, led by Major Thaninthorn Dohmhom, commander of Special Task Unit 2, accompanied by Major Kittisak Bangphimai and Major Nitithorn Sirikhram, was conducted with 58-year-old Mr. Yochon and his 21-year-old son Rathawut walking the route in transparent fashion before media witnesses to verify the facts.

Yochon acknowledged that on the day of the incident, he was so absorbed in collecting forest products that he unknowingly wandered into Cambodian territory before being detained on April 15, 2569. He was released and returned to Thailand on May 15, 2569, thanks to coordinated efforts between Army Region 2 and Cambodia's Regional Military Unit 4.

The investigation found that Yochon had walked approximately 5 kilometers past Thai barbed wire barriers and defensive positions into Cambodian territory from his motorcycle's parking spot. Yochon admitted that he initially was uncertain which country he had entered, but after officials showed him the actual boundary markers, maps, and locations, he confirmed he had indeed crossed by mistake. He expressed gratitude to all officials who worked tirelessly to help him return safely to his family.

Yochon also issued a public warning to forest foragers working near the border to exercise increased caution, avoid approaching the borderline without authorization, and always inform community leaders or military officers at local bases before entering the forest to prevent unforeseen incidents like his own situation.

The military reported that the operation proceeded smoothly, with units intensifying public awareness campaigns in border communities and installing additional barbed wire fencing along the border to prevent accidental incursions into Cambodian territory while continuously upgrading safety measures in the border region.

Shocking Discovery: Man Recently Returned from Malaysia Searching for Girlfriend Finds Her Body at Motorcycle Crash Site

A 22-year-old woman from Samut Songkhram died in a motorcycle crash on Ekachai Road when her boyfriend, recently returned from Malaysia, found her body while searching after she went missing.

10h ago Khaosod

On May 19, 2569, Deputy Superintendent Rangsarn Dirot of Lad Yai Police Station received a report of a fatal motorcycle crash involving a road sign on Ekachai Road in Lad Yai Subdistrict, Muang District, Samut Songkhram Province. Officials and rescue workers from Saang Benjamtham Samut Songkhram Foundation inspected the scene and discovered the body of Ms. Hatairat (surname withheld), 22 years old, from Ban Prok Subdistrict, Samut Songkhram Province, lying in the grass beside the road with severe facial injuries. A red and black Yamaha motorcycle registered in Samut Songkhram was found nearby, severely damaged with parts and debris scattered across the grass near a steel roadside pole.

The victim's boyfriend recounted that around 3-4 p.m. on May 18, his girlfriend had called him to say she arrived home safely. Afterward, he had no idea where she went, and soon she stopped responding to contact. Worried and anxious, having just returned from work in Malaysia, he immediately drove out to search for her. While passing the accident site, he spotted an overturned motorcycle in the grass and instantly recognized it as his girlfriend's. He stopped to investigate and discovered the tragic scene.

Initial investigation suggests the victim may have been riding at high speed during the night. Combined with poor visibility, she lost control of the motorcycle, veered off course, and crashed forcefully into a roadside sign, with both she and the motorcycle being thrown into the grass where she died. Authorities will review CCTV footage from nearby cameras to determine the exact cause. The body will undergo autopsy before being released to the family for religious rites, and further legal proceedings will follow.

Police Launch Manhunt for Gunman Who Shot Abbot of Prominent Kamphaengphet Temple; Important Clues Found

Police are hunting for a gunman who ambushed and shot the abbot of Wat Krajom Thong temple in Kamphaengphet, leaving him severely wounded. Investigators found clues in a nearby cassava field and are examining loan disputes and personal conf

10h ago Khaosod

Kamphaengphet police are launching a full-scale manhunt for the suspect who ambushed and shot the temple abbot in a serious attack. Investigators found important clues in a cassava field behind the temple and are not ruling out personal disputes or financial problems as motives. The gunman remains at large as authorities work to bring him to justice as quickly as possible.

On May 19, a shocking incident that has alarmed Buddhist followers occurred when an assailant opened fire on Phra Athikar Bunlerng Akpunyo, 64-year-old abbot of Wat Krajom Thong in Kamphaengphet province, leaving him with severe injuries inside the temple residence. His condition remains concerning, and medical staff continue close monitoring while police intensify their search for the perpetrator. Investigators discovered significant clues in a cassava field near the temple.

Provincial police officers have meticulously collected evidence from the crime scene inside the abbot's residence, where Phra Athikar Bunlerng was shot with an unknown firearm, sustaining wounds to his right ear, neck, shoulder, and right hip. A major obstacle in the investigation is that "all CCTV cameras inside the temple are non-functional," forcing investigators to expand their search to security cameras in neighboring areas surrounding the temple instead.

During their sweep of the cassava field near the Ping River pier, officers discovered multiple human footprints, though it remains under investigation whether these are connected to the suspect. Temple caretaker Manoach Phubampoen affirmed that the abbot is a development-minded monk who has never had conflicts with anyone, and the incident has deeply shocked the local community. He urged police to apprehend the perpetrator and prosecute as quickly as possible.

At Kamphaengphet City Police Station, investigators have summoned associates for further questioning, focusing on potential motives including "loan disputes" and "romantic jealousy issues." Lamyai Bunpho, one of the abbot's close associates who helps with meal preparations, stated after giving her statement that she felt no pressure from police. She acknowledged the abbot had been asked for loans but completely denied rumors of romantic entanglement, clarifying that the man in question was not involved and was out catching fish on the night of the incident. She claimed she was unaware of allegations that the abbot had called a male masseuse for a massage without paying.

Nakorn Polpakdi, another close associate who was also questioned, maintained his innocence and affirmed he volunteered at the temple out of faith. He stated police questioned him respectfully without pressure and expressed his complete cooperation. He reiterated his pure intentions, saying he simply helps with temple work and cannot fathom why such an incident would happen to the revered abbot.

Currently, investigators have not ruled out any motives, including personal conflicts, financial problems from people who borrowed money, or other surrounding circumstances. They are awaiting results from evidence analysis at the crime scene and reviewing CCTV footage from surrounding areas to identify the perpetrator's escape route, so they can apprehend him and file charges as quickly as possible.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta joked he'll become Bournemouth's biggest fan ahead of their May 19 clash with Manchester City, knowing a Cherries victory would clinch the Premier League title for the Gunners who currently lead by five points.

10h ago Khaosod

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta gave candid comments expressing his desire to become a devoted Bournemouth fan during their upcoming match against Manchester City, which could decide this season's Premier League championship.

Arsenal is poised to clinch the Premier League title this season following their recent 1-0 home victory over Burnley on May 18, with Kai Havertz scoring in the 36th minute.

Following this result, the Gunners extended their tally to 82 points from 37 matches, maintaining top position and holding a 5-point lead over second-place Manchester City, though City has played one fewer match.

Manchester City are scheduled to visit Bournemouth in a Premier League fixture on May 19. Should City fail to secure victory, Arsenal will clinch the championship immediately.

When asked by reporters if Arteta would support Bournemouth, the manager responded: "I will be the greatest Bournemouth fan that has ever existed."

"For Andoni (Iraola) and every player, including all Bournemouth fans, I think we are all Bournemouth fans because we know what it means if they get a good result," he added.

"When you look at how Burnley played today, the spirit they showed, and the difficulty they created—just imagine Bournemouth doing that," Arteta continued.

The 44-year-old manager also reflected on his team's recent performance, saying: "We knew it would be difficult because of what's at stake. This was another hugely important match. It's one of the best football matches we've played this season. We probably should have scored two or three goals."

Boonmee Sixnine Ready to Face Snail Lukpoid on Kammchai Day - Vows 'No Defeat' in Mind

Boxer Boonmee Sixnine weighed in at 52.7kg for his Kammchai Day fight against Snail Lukpoid at Rangsit International Boxing Stadium, declaring he is fully prepared with knees and kicks as his weapons, vowing defeat is not an option.

11h ago Khaosod

At 6:50 a.m. on May 19, 2025, Boonmee Sixnine arrived at Rangsit International Boxing Stadium for medical examination and weigh-in before the Kammchai Day fight. He traveled in a white Isuzu MU-X with his coach from Petchrachaiyim camp, wearing camp attire and bringing his boxer's passport.

Upon arrival, Boonmee encountered Snail Lukpoid for the first time in over three weeks. The two fighters made eye contact and posed for photographers without speaking. Boonmee stated he is 100% ready but acknowledges about 30% nervousness, which he considers a necessary precaution. Over the past three weeks, he has trained at Petchrachaiyim camp, focusing on clinching, elbows, running, and fundamental Muay Thai, while maintaining his weight below 53 kilograms.

Boonmee expressed confidence in his knees and kicks as his primary weapons, with clinching as a strong secondary option. He said he is eager for the fight so he can return to his business and life, as current pressures have impacted his work. His goal is simple: either victory or knockout—defeat is not an option. Regarding legal matters from the previous incident, he will not withdraw charges until after the fight concludes.

Boonmee also mentioned that before the recent Nohkrachase appearance, some teenagers—possibly associates of Snail—circled near his shop trying to provoke him, but he remained composed and waited for fight day. He extended a message to Snail: "Do your best today, and after this fight, we will definitely be friends."

Boonmee passed the medical examination and weigh-in at 52.7 kilograms (117 pounds) with a height of 166 centimeters. He subsequently entered the ring to pay respect to the Muay Thai spirits and walked each corner of the ring before testing out the ring surface with practice movements.
