Son Verbally Abuses Mother and Evicts Her from Room; Mother Files Drug Complaint, Police Separate Them
A 36-year-old man in Udon Thani was arrested for drug possession after verbally abusing and evicting his mother from their shared boarding house room; police separated them and his mother was taken in by relatives.
At 5 p.m. on May 3, 2026, Deputy Superintendent Wikhit Suutroong of Muang Udon Thani Police Station received a report that a son was threatening and assaulting his mother at a boarding house in Udon Thani Municipality. Officers rushed to a five-story boarding house where they found Gao, 36, and his mother, 64, who claimed her son had verbally abused her with foul language and forced her from the room. She requested police arrest him on drug charges, hoping he would receive treatment for methamphetamine addiction and reform. She mentioned he had assaulted her once before, which she forgave. She noted that before his drug addiction, he was handsome and well-groomed, but had since neglected his appearance.
Gao explained he worked at a noodle shop, rented a room monthly at the boarding house, and did maintenance work there. His mother had only been staying with him for two months. He said he told her she could stay but not to cause trouble, as they had argued before.
"Today my mother came to the shop claiming the gas stove exploded and burned her arm," he said. "I was shocked and brought her here to care for her. I've looked after her and provided for her, but she's caused problems that made my wife leave. I'm in this situation because I chose her. She only thinks of herself and never considers my feelings."
Police initially attempted mediation but the argument continued. Officers contacted relatives to pick up the mother, while the son was charged with Category 1 drug possession (methamphetamine) and sent to Udon Thani Hospital for treatment.
