Tragic Motorcycle Crash Claims Three Lives: Father and Two Sons Collide with Pickup Truck
A father and his two young sons died in a highway collision in Surat Thani on May 22 when their motorcycle crossed into oncoming traffic while traveling at excessive speed and struck a pickup truck.
A tragic accident occurred on May 22 in Surat Thani when a father transporting his two young sons to school on a red Honda Click motorcycle lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic. Deputy Lieutenant Colonel Suphanat Phonlaksa, an investigation officer at Muang Surat Thani Police Station, responded to reports of a vehicle collision on Soi Sri Vichai 21 at the Ta Khaek intersection in Makham Tia subdistrict. Officers found two people dead at the scene: Kittipat Rueangrit Thanchoet, 47, from Koh Tao district, and his 6-year-old son, a first-grade student. A 10-year-old fifth-grade student was seriously injured and rushed to Surat Thani Hospital but died shortly after arrival. The motorcycle had lost control while traveling at high speed and crossed lanes, colliding with an orange Ford Ranger pickup truck being driven by 26-year-old Niphaphat Daengchoet from Nong Bua Lamphu province. The pickup truck was traveling in the correct direction on the opposite side of the road. Investigation footage from vehicle dash cameras confirmed that the motorcycle operator was traveling at excessive speed before losing control and crossing into the opposing lane, resulting in the fatal collision.
