Drug-Crazed Man Points Gun at Police Before Fleeing into Government Compound, Taunts 'Shoot Me, I Want to Die'
A 21-year-old man high on methamphetamine attempted to shoot police in Si Sa Ket after officers discovered a homemade pistol hidden on his motorcycle, then fled into a government compound while taunting officers to kill him.
On May 26, 2025, traffic police from Si Sa Ket City Station were conducting routine patrols in Si Sa Ket Municipality when they spotted a suspicious man riding a green Honda Wave motorcycle on Ratchavongse Road, between the Si Sa Ket Provincial Education Office and the Si Sa Ket Primary Education Area Office, District 1. Officers signaled him to stop for inspection. The man complied and allowed police to check his motorcycle seat, but during the search, officers discovered an unknown firearm hidden beneath the seat.
The suspect suddenly attempted to grab the gun to shoot at the officers. In the tense situation, police quickly took control and prevented the attack. The man panicked and fled into the Si Sa Ket Primary Education Area Office compound. Following the incident, Police Captain Narin Bupta, commander of Si Sa Ket City Station, immediately mobilized all police units, traffic police, and tactical teams to launch a manhunt for the dangerous suspect. Officers conducted extensive searches on foot and by vehicle, establishing a tight perimeter around the incident area amid public alarm and concerns the suspect might use the weapon again.
Police later tracked down and arrested the suspect in a grassy area behind the education office. He was identified as Danai, 21 years old, appearing confused, incoherent, and seemingly unconscious. During transport in the police truck, the suspect became extremely agitated, repeatedly attempting to headbutt the truck bed, biting his own tongue, and shouting 'I want to die, shoot me, just shoot me,' making it difficult for officers to control him. Fortunately, no further serious incidents occurred.
Upon searching the motorcycle again, officers found 4 methamphetamine pills hidden in a cigarette pack under the seat, along with one homemade pistol and 6 rounds of .38 caliber ammunition loaded in a magazine. During initial questioning, the suspect gave unclear statements due to his delirious condition but admitted the drugs and firearm were his. He was charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, and illegal possession of Category 1 drugs (methamphetamine). He was transferred to Si Sa Ket City Police Station for further legal proceedings.
