Abhisit believes canceling 2544 MOU poses no problems due to lack of practical use; recommends stringent legal procedures

Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva expressed support for the National Security Council's decision to cancel the 2544 MOU with Cambodia, arguing the agreement has never been effectively implemented and contains unresolved border mapping issues. While he indicated cancellation poses no fundamental problems, Abhisit emphasized that legal procedures must be handled carefully and Thailand should monitor Cambodia's response.

25 Apr Khaosod

At Democrat Party headquarters on April 25, Abhisit Vejjajiva, party list member and leader, commented on the National Security Council's resolution to cancel the 2544 MOU, stating that the party has long maintained the agreement is non-functional and plagued by mapping disputes from inception. He noted that proceeding or canceling the agreement presents no principled difficulties, as continuing under the MOU would likely cause problems, but the legal procedures and methods must be tightened. The party must monitor Cambodia's response, though since the elections, they have consistently stated the 2544 MOU can be terminated. When asked about potential future complications from both nations being signatories to the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, given Cambodia's typical non-compliance record, Abhisit explained that while international law is universal, new negotiations would be necessary since the original agreement is no longer operational due to various problems. Regarding whether the cancellation would be beneficial, Abhisit stated that procedures must be conducted rigorously according to legal principles while monitoring Cambodia's movements accordingly.

Check Before You Buy! 10 Essential Things to Know Before Purchasing a Water Filter. Wrong usage can change your life and risk long-term expenses. This checklist helps extend equipment lifespan.

Compiled by Sadsound Online News Team April 25, 2026

According to foreign media reports, water filtration service providers in Singapore point out that even with a good filtering system, improper use can reduce effectiveness, affect water taste, and unnecessarily increase expenses. This article guides you through 10 things to know before deciding to buy a water filter to help extend equipment lifespan and make the right installation decision.

10 Things to Know Before Buying a Water Filter - Risk of Reduced Performance and Increased Costs

1. Not Changing Filter Cartridges on Schedule Neglecting to change filter cartridges on time is a common mistake. When used beyond the recommended period, filtering efficiency decreases and bacteria and mold can accumulate, affecting water taste. Advice: Check manufacturer guidelines and set reminders for cartridge replacement.

2. Not Checking Tap Water Quality Water quality varies by location, including hardness, chlorine, heavy metals, and other contaminants. Choosing an inappropriate filter may not effectively remove these pollutants. Advice: Analyze water quality before selecting a filter.

3. Overusing the Filter System Using the system beyond its designed capacity or duration can reduce efficiency and increase system wear. Advice: Choose equipment appropriate for your household size and monitor usage volume.

4. Not Cleaning the Filter System Beyond the filter cartridge itself, other components like water tanks and faucets can accumulate dirt. If not cleaned, water may develop odor or quality issues. Advice: Clean according to manual instructions using warm water and mild soap; avoid harsh chemicals.

5. Choosing the Wrong Filter Type for Your Needs Different filter types have different capabilities, such as: - Carbon filters suit chlorine and odor removal - RO systems remove various contaminants but reduce minerals - Ceramic filters work for bacteria but don't handle chemicals

Advice: Choose based on your specific water problems or use a multi-stage system.

6. Not Flushing Before First Use New filter cartridges may contain manufacturing dust or residue. Skipping the flush can cause cloudy or odorous water. Advice: Run water as per instructions before initial use.

7. Ignoring Environmental Factors Placing the filter in hot areas or direct sunlight can accelerate material degradation and increase microbial growth risk. Advice: Install in appropriate locations away from heat and direct sunlight.

8. Overlooking Other Water Sources in Your Home Many households filter only drinking water but neglect other sources like bathrooms, washing machines, or water heaters that may not be filtered. Advice: Assess total water usage and install additional filtration systems if needed.

9. Not Paying Attention to Water Smell and Taste Changes in smell or taste may signal problems like expired cartridges, system contamination, or pipe issues. Advice: Notice abnormalities and address them immediately.

10. Ignoring Long-Term Costs Expenses include not just the initial purchase but also cartridge replacement, maintenance, and electricity. Advice: Consider total long-term costs, not just the initial price.

Using a water filter system helps ensure clean and safe drinking water, but small oversights like failing to change cartridges on time or choosing the wrong filter can lead to problems.

Police Spokesperson Reports Decline in Cybercrime Cases and Damages Following Dismantling of Mule Account Networks; Orders Intensified Crackdown on International Scammer Gangs

On April 25, Deputy Police Chief Trairong Phukaoluan, serving as spokesman for the Royal Thai Police, announced that the National Police Bureau is continuously advancing its crackdown on all forms of cybercrime, including online fraud, scams, and online gambling, to enhance digital security for the public.

Through coordinated efforts by the Anti-Online Fraud Center (ACSC) and all participating units in investigating counter and ATM withdrawals, authorities have issued arrest warrants and arrested money mules and account providers (khok ma), with the network expansion resulting in decreased cybercrime cases and overall damages.

Data reveals that e-commerce fraud accounts for the highest number of cases at 73.5%, while financial and investment fraud causes the most financial damage at 31.8% of total cases. All units are intensifying the crackdown on scammer gangs operating illegally within Thailand to defraud foreign countries.

Authorities are also prosecuting online gambling operations with circulation exceeding 10 million baht and illegal firearm sales and advertising through online platforms.

The police warn the public to be cautious and avoid becoming victims of three main types of scams:

1. Fraudulent Product and Service Sales: Scammers typically create fake pages or profiles offering unrealistically cheap products, then refuse to deliver after victims transfer money.

2. Investment Fraud with High Returns: Scammers use fake profiles or AI technology to create credible-looking personas to deceive victims into investing.

3. Online Side Job Fraud: Scammers claim easy income from liking posts or reviewing products, tricking victims into sending money first to complete tasks. The public should not believe unrealistic income claims and must never share personal information.

Breaking News on Buddhist Relics – Medal of Somdet Phra Maha Samana Chao Phraya Wachiryananvaroroth

This article documents the life and legacy of Somdet Phra Maha Samana Chao Phraya Wachiryananvaroroth, the 10th Supreme Patriarch of Thailand who served as a spiritual leader and preceptor to two Thai kings. Born in 1860 to King Rama IV, he ordained as a monk in 1879 and eventually became the abbot of Wat Boworniwet Vihara and the Supreme Patriarch during the reign of King Rama VI. A commemorative medal was created in 1920 to honor his 60th birthday celebration.

25 Apr Khaosod

Somdet Phra Maha Samana Chao Phraya Wachiryananvaroroth was the 10th Supreme Patriarch of Bangkok, residing at Wat Boworniwet Vihara. He was the son of King Rama IV and Princess Mom Chao Mae Pae, born on Thursday, the 7th waning day of the 5th lunar month in the Year of the Goat, which corresponds to April 12, 1860. Heavy rain fell on the day of his birth, which the Queen Consort regarded as an auspicious omen and named him Phraya Manusyanakamamnop.

At age 20, he ordained as a Buddhist monk at Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsada on June 27, 1879. Somdet Phraya Pavareshvaralingkorn served as his preceptor, while Phra Chantharakojkun (Yim Chantharangsi) of Wat Makut Kasatriaram acted as his karma instructor. After his first rains retreat at Wat Boworniwet Vihara, he moved to his second rains retreat at Wat Makut Kasatriaram under the guidance of Phra Chantharakojkun.

During his stay at Wat Makut Kasatriaram, he underwent ritual purification and re-ordination according to the custom of the Thammayut order. Phra Chantharakojkun served as his preceptor, while Phra Dhammatilokacharya (Dech Thanjarao), then a senior scholar-monk at Wat Somnas Vihara, served as his karma instructor at the ubosot of Wat Ratchathiwat on January 3, 1879.

In 1891, when Somdet Phraya Pavareshvaralingkorn passed away, King Rama V graciously appointed Phraya Wachiryananvaroroth to succeed him as the abbot of Wat Boworniwet Vihara, becoming the third abbot of the temple.

On November 2, 1906, he was elevated to the rank of Krom Luang Wachiryananvaroroth. When King Rama VI ascended the throne in 1910, he was appointed as the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand and elevated to the rank of Phraya. His name was inscribed as Somdet Phra Boromvongse Thao Krom Phraya Wachiryananvaroroth. Later, King Rama VI granted him the title of Somdet Phra Maha Samana Chao Krom Phraya Wachiryananvaroroth as the first holder of this honor.

He served as the preceptor of two monarchs: King Rama VI during his ordination as a monk while holding the title of Crown Prince, and King Rama VII while holding the title of Prince Prajadhipok. He passed away on August 2, 1921, at the age of 61, having presided over Wat Boworniwet Vihara for 30 years and serving as Supreme Patriarch for 10 years and 7 months.

The medal of Somdet Phra Maha Samana Chao Krom Phraya Wachiryananvaroroth was created in 1920 to commemorate his 60th birthday celebration. The oval-shaped medal with built-in loops measures 2.8 centimeters in width and 3.5 centimeters in length. The obverse features a half-length portrait of His Holiness in profile facing left, with a radiating diamond symbol above representing 'Vajiravudh,' and Ariyaka script below, which was created by King Rama IV.
