The charity concert 'Sing History: Songs of Love from the Past,' the opening chapter of the 'The Giving Concert' 3 Generations 1 Heart series presented by Donation HUB and the Thai Red Cross in partnership with Workpoint Group at Siam Piwat Hall, 7th floor of Siam Square One, filled the venue with generous donors and music fans alike.

Two charismatic hosts, Senaling Somkiat Chanthaphrahman and Gluay Kitti Chiewwongskul, guided the audience on a journey through time to discover 133 years of Thai Red Cross history alongside Thai society, told through beautifully arranged timeless songs divided into captivating performance segments.

The Faith Reverie segment opened with theatrical drama transporting viewers to the founding era of the Siamese Red Cross Society in 1869, featuring the graceful melody of 'Samakkhi Chumnuem' by Nan Satheeda and the sweet vocals of 'Hadpetch' by Sunari Ratchasima, accompanied by stunning backdrops of the Anantasamakom Throne Hall. Entertainment continued with popular songs including 'Rose Red' and 'Doctor Khrap' performed by Tuk-Siriporn, Hy-Aphaporn, and Mong Arai, drawing thunderous applause.

The Charm of Lukthung segment revived the vibrancy of past Red Cross field charity events through the soft vocals of Aliss The Golden Song and new generation artists including Tuch Kittituch, Bank Chalermrat, and Bot Prachaya, performing classical duets like 'Ussaswat,' 'Lan Lanthom,' 'One in a Hundred,' and 'Ruean Paen' with emotional resonance.

The Merry Spectacle segment brought the legendary winter Red Cross festival to the concert stage through a surprise performance by the hosts, who shed their roles as emcees to perform as live film dubbing artists, recreating classic sound effects and comedic entertainment. The festive atmosphere continued with Tuk Siriporn, Royal Kachboondit, and Bank performing eternal countryside and duet songs like 'Jut Tai Tamtor' and 'Sanen Saep,' complemented by special performances from Purim and Bank in 'Phu Yai Lee,' reflecting the authentic Thai way of life.

The segment concluded with 'Ram Vong Gachad,' where all artists taught the audience to dance the traditional circle dance together, transforming the entire hall into a joyous celebration of friendship and happiness across all generations.

The Flower of Life, a composition by Professor Prapas Chollsranon, served as both a thank-you gift and a reminder of the power of sharing. Led by Nan Satheeda, the powerful and faithful performance conveyed profound meaning through golden verses emphasizing 'give to you, give to me, give to each other, pass it along,' because giving is a magnificent and beautiful thing, accompanied by stories conveyed through charitable missions.

Buddhist Amulet World – Viewing the Prosperity Coins of Luang Pu Songkhro and the Noble Truths Coins of Luang Pu Jai

Revered Thai monks created distinctive Buddhist amulet coins over decades, from Luang Pho Pan's meditation-themed pieces in 1979 to Luang Pu Songkhro's numbered prosperity coins in 2014, with rare early coins by Luang Pu Jai from the 1940s

6d ago Khaosod

This article explores several highly-regarded Buddhist amulet coins created by respected monks across Thailand. It begins with a quote about meditation from Luang Pho Cha Subhadto of Wat Nong Pa Pong in Ubon Ratchathani, then details amulets from Luang Pho Pan Akkhabanyo, the former abbot of Wat Mongkol Kodthawat in Samut Prakan, whose amulets remain popular across generations. The article describes a 1979 coin featuring a seated meditation figure, created by Phra Kru Mongkol Phiphatthan to commemorate the construction of a meditation hall.

The article also covers amulets by Luang Pu Jai Inthasuvanno of Wat Sedet in Samut Songkhram, who created the "Sugarcane Water Coins" or "Noble Truths Coins" around 1946-1947, featuring lotus blossoms and Khmer script. These distinctive coins are noted for lacking the typical monk's name, temple, and date inscriptions, making them relatively unknown outside serious amulet collectors.

Additional sections describe coins by Luang Pu Ma Janavaro, the former abbot of Wat Santiwiwek in Roi Et, whose first-edition portrait coins from 1974 are highly popular, and Luang Pu Songkhro Kanthadhammo of Wat Ban Sai in Lopburi, who created numbered and coded prosperity coins in the third quarter of 2014 as fundraising items for temple maintenance.

Durian Boom Drives J&T Express Shipments Up 60%, Deploys Over 100 Backup Trucks

Thailand's durian boom is driving a 60% surge in J&T Express shipments, prompting the logistics company to deploy over 100 backup trucks and launch 15 dedicated delivery routes ahead of peak season in May-June.

6d ago Khaosod

J&T Express experiences 60% surge in shipments, plans 15 dedicated durian delivery routes, deploys over 100 backup trucks, and extends distribution center hours until midnight.

Global Jet Express (Thailand) Limited, operating as J&T Express, reports that 2569 is a golden year for Thai durian. The company forecasts total production this year will reach approximately 1.89 million tons, a 21.4% increase compared to the previous year.

Chanthaburi province, the country's primary durian-producing region, accounts for over 60% of national output, creating bustling harvest activity throughout the area. While Thai durian traditionally relied on export markets, the government now actively promotes domestic consumption, creating a market structure of 70% export and 30% domestic sales to absorb the increased production. The government has implemented continuous support measures to drive strong growth in Thailand's durian industry.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, together with the Ministry of Commerce, are driving fruit management initiatives for 2569 through eight proactive measures to boost domestic consumption to 550,000 tons.

The Ministry of Commerce has signed a cooperation agreement with TikTok platform and allocated over 6.5 million baht to support over 20,000 small and medium local entrepreneurs entering the digital market.

Since mid-April, J&T Express has seen rapid increases in durian shipments in the Eastern Region, particularly from Chanthaburi and Rayong provinces. During April 15-30, durian shipments from Chanthaburi increased by 60% compared to the same period last year.

"To support the peak season for Monthong durian sales between late May and June, the company has planned 15 dedicated durian delivery routes in the Eastern Region, prepared over 100 backup trucks, and extended distribution center closing time to midnight to fully meet increased transportation demand."

Thailand is comprehensively accelerating support for the durian industry throughout the supply chain. In production, the government promotes good agricultural practices coupled with quality control centers to upgrade standards from cultivation. In processing, the government supports deep-processing industry development through value-added products such as frozen durian and durian-processed goods to increase product value, expand distribution channels, and mitigate market volatility impacts.

On the market side, Thailand maintains strength in major export markets like China while seriously pushing domestic market expansion to efficiently and sustainably balance supply and demand.

Critically, the logistics system has transformed from a traditional transportation supporter into a key mechanism balancing domestic and international supply and demand, serving as the main driver elevating industry potential. Logistics not only removes cross-border export constraints, allowing Thai durian to access global markets smoothly, but also strengthens domestic distribution networks to support expanding consumption trends.

Breaking Buddhist News – First Edition Amulet B.E. 2484 Luang Por Bai of Wat Chong Lom

6d ago Khaosod

Luang Por Bai Thammacho, a revered Buddhist master from the Mae Klong River region at Wat Chong Lom in Samut Songkhram Province, was both a junior student and dharma companion of the renowned monks Luang Por Kaew of Wat Phuang Malai and Luang Por Kong of Wat Bang Ka Pom. He was born on a Thursday in the eighth lunar month of B.E. 2404 (1861) in Phetchaburi Province as an orphan, raised by Phra Ajarn Ket of Wat Thong Nopkun, the elder brother of Luang Por Kaew. At age 10, he studied Thai and Pali language before ordaining as a monk at age 20 at Wat Thong Nopkun, where Luang Por Daeng served as his preceptor.

He became deeply devoted to his studies in Buddhist philosophy and vipassana meditation under his teachers. In B.E. 2437, he undertook a four-month pilgrimage to visit the Buddha's Footprint in Saraburi Province and the Reclining Buddha statue in Kanchanaburi. He eventually became abbot of Wat Chong Lom, replacing Luang Por Kaew who transferred to Wat Phuang Malai in B.E. 2445.

In B.E. 2470, due to severe riverbank erosion threatening the temple, Luang Por Bai relocated and rebuilt the temple on higher ground. He expanded the temple with new structures, including ordination halls and a Buddha cave image. His construction projects were funded entirely through merit-making donations from villagers who contributed materials and labor. In B.E. 2484, during World War II, thieves vandalized the temple's decorative elements, damaging the Buddha cave image that remains partially intact today.

Luang Por Bai was renowned for his strong spiritual attainments and was frequently invited to preside over Buddhist blessing ceremonies. He presided over the casting of a royal statue at Wat Rajabophit in B.E. 2481 and many other major Buddhist ceremonies. He passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4, B.E. 2485, at the age of 81, having spent 60 years in monastic life. The amulets and sacred objects he created during his lifetime are highly revered and sought after by devotees for their exceptional spiritual power.

MGC-ASIA Hits New High in Q1 with Net Profit of 323 Million Baht, Third Consecutive Quarter of Growth

MGC-ASIA achieved record Q1 2025 profits of 323 million baht—up 488% year-on-year—with total revenue reaching 6.08 billion baht, driven primarily by strong performance in electric vehicle sales and the Neo Mobility Asia subsidiary. The company's success reflects growing consumer demand for premium EVs amid energy price volatility, with over 2,000 vehicle backorders currently pending delivery beginning in the second quarter.

6d ago Khaosod

MGC-ASIA delivered strong results in Q1 2025, achieving a record net profit of 323 million baht—a 488% increase year-on-year—marking the third consecutive quarter of growth. Group CEO Santhavuth Thamchawaviriya attributed the expansion to the electric vehicle and renewable energy business, which boosted total revenue to 6.08 billion baht, up 49.6%. The primary growth drivers include Neo Mobility Asia's earnings contribution and the sustained expansion of the EV market, as consumers increasingly choose premium electric vehicles in response to volatile energy prices and oil costs.

The company views the automotive industry's future as competition not merely in vehicle sales but in building business ecosystems that connect customers and generate sustained long-term revenue—a strategy MGC-ASIA has developed over 25 years. Response to electric vehicles at the Bangkok International Motor Show remained strong following the launches of the XPENG X9, BMW iX3, ZEEKR 009, and BMW i5, resulting in over 2,000 backorders with deliveries beginning in Q2.

Other group businesses also performed well. Alpha X's financial services grew 1,765% with profit contribution of 11.4 million baht from wealth lending clients, while Howden Maxi insurance expanded its customer base. Car rental operations through Master Car Rental and SIXT generated 489 million baht in revenue, up 14.7%, benefiting from tourism recovery and corporate demand. Used vehicle sales reached 273.5 million baht, up 26.6%, maintaining healthy margins through efficient inventory and cost management.

Aftersales service and MMS service centers generated 931 million baht across dealerships and service centers for premium brands including BMW, MINI, Honda, Rolls-Royce, and Harley-Davidson, with plans underway to expand showrooms and service centers in major economic cities nationwide.

Fresh from the Temple – Strengthening Thai-Sri Lankan Monastic Ties with a Visit to Asgiriya Gedige Temple

Thai monks from Wat Rajapraditsat visited Sri Lanka's Asgiriya Gedige Temple on March 21 to strengthen centuries-old Buddhist ties, presenting gifts honoring King Rama IV's legacy of supporting Sinhalese Buddhism and monastic exchange betwe

6d ago Khaosod

On Saturday, March 21, 2025, at 4:30 PM Sri Lankan time, Phra Rajawichirdhammametthi (Ariyaphong Ariyathammo), deputy abbot of Wat Rajapraditsat Mahaseemarama, led a delegation to pay respects to Most Venerable Wedaruwe Upali Anunayake Thera, abbot of Asgiriya Gedige Raja Maha Viharaya.

The Thai monks presented ceremonial fans and offerings commemorating the 150th anniversary of King Rama IV's passing, along with royal portraits, an image of the late Supreme Patriarch, and religious items from Thailand as commemorative gifts during this second official visit.

King Rama IV, founder of Wat Rajapraditsat Mahaseemarama, held deep faith in Sri Lankan Buddhism and adapted Sinhalese Buddha images and stupa designs for use in Thailand. The late king's linguistic genius and royal patronage significantly supported the spread of Buddhism among Sri Lankan monks, including donations of printing blocks and sacred texts.

The Supreme Patriarch Somdej Phra Ariyvongsa Kataña (Sa Pussdawo), first abbot of Wat Rajapraditsat and the ninth Supreme Patriarch of Bangkok, possessed expertise in linguistics and Sinhala language, collaborating in the study and translation of texts borrowed from Sri Lanka.

Asgiriya Gedige is the oldest temple in Senkadagala, the former name of Kandy, built by King Vikramabahu III of Kumpola as a memorial to Queen Chandrawathie, known as "Askiriyadevi." When Phra Ubali Maha Thera and fellow Thai missionaries came to revive monastic order in Sri Lanka, an ordination hall was constructed at this temple, with the first ordination ceremony held on Visakha Bucha in 1765 under the patronage of King Kirti Sri Rajasinha.

This temple holds significant historical importance in Thai-Sri Lankan Buddhist relations during the Ayutthaya period. King Kirti Sri Rajasinha granted a grand royal cremation ceremony for Phra Ubali Maha Thera in 1755. Originally a royal cemetery called Adahana Maluwa, it served as a cremation site for royal family members.

The temple's greatest significance lies in its Gedige structure, which was the first location in Kandy to enshrine the Sacred Tooth Relic when it was brought from the Kotte kingdom for safekeeping before the official Temple of the Sacred Tooth (Dalada Maligawa) was built. During the famous Esala Perahera festival, on the final night before conclusion, a procession carrying the Sacred Tooth Relic (a replica) is traditionally brought to Asgiriya Gedige in remembrance of its historical role protecting this precious relic.

Diverse Approaches – Accelerating 'Khorat Durian' Production: Farmers' Strategy to Lock in Prices Before Market Saturation

Khorat durian farmer Somchai Chaisamrong accelerated production to May harvest, beating typical June timing to capture premium prices of 130-150 baht per kilogram before market saturation from competing Northeast orchards.

6d ago Khaosod

Khorat durian has distinctive characteristics that set it apart from Eastern region varieties, making it highly desirable in the market. Khorat durian features dense flesh, small seeds, minimal fibers, and a creamy, melting texture—sweet with a crispy exterior and tender interior, with a subtle aroma.

Thongsanun Durian Orchard, owned by Somchai Chaisamrong, a 43-year-old farmer from Ban Nong Jan, Takhaibaan Subdistrict, Khorat District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, harvested and began selling Khorat durian to market earlier than anyone else, starting in early May. Meanwhile, other orchards in Khorat District and throughout the Northeast are waiting to harvest in late June.

The farm owner attempted off-season durian production to reduce market competition pressures in the area and maintain standard pricing. Thongsanun orchard sells durian at 130-150 baht per kilogram. Importantly, the distinctive flavor differentiates it from commonly available Eastern region durian.

Somchai deliberately accelerated off-season production to achieve better prices. Eastern region durian produces from March, while Northeast and Southern durians produce from June to August. He chose to have his orchard produce in May instead. The durian trees have been cultivated for approximately 8 years. Originally, they would produce simultaneously with Northeast and Southern durians (June-August), creating intense market competition that sometimes resulted in below-normal prices. He decided to speed up flowering, beginning in late July 2568. However, persistently hot weather made flowering more difficult than usual, requiring precise water management and moisture control at appropriate levels.

This required considerable experience, as disease and pest management presented additional challenges requiring special attention. Despite being the first year attempting off-season production, results proved satisfactory, with yields not significantly lower than normal season production.

The advantage of off-season Northeast durian production lies in the product characteristics. Khorat and volcanic durians possess distinctive qualities that differ from Eastern and Southern varieties, which have already flooded the market for some time. Most market competition is therefore among Northeast region durians themselves.

Producing Northeast durian during this period targets the timeframe when Eastern region durian supplies decline while Northeast and Southern orchards still await their late June harvest. May harvests therefore represent an important opportunity to achieve premium prices and meet strong market demand. Currently, durian from this orchard sells at 130-150 baht per kilogram depending on grade.

Given the significant expansion of durian cultivation areas in the Northeast region, if farmers can properly maintain production without drought or storm damage, yields will increase substantially, intensifying price pressures. Meanwhile, production costs rise annually. Break-even prices should be approximately 100 baht per kilogram. If the government truly wishes to assist durian farmers, it should focus on reducing production costs—fertilizer, pesticides, and various risk factors—as this directly addresses root causes rather than other approaches. This would enable farmers to sell durian at break-even prices while consumers enjoy reasonably-priced fruit.

Somchai's Thongsanun orchard comprises approximately 50 trees on roughly 3 acres, with projected yields of about 6 tons.

Tray Skott Opens Up About Three-Year-Old Recording Made to Protect Himself

Tray Skott revealed he secretly recorded his brother three years ago during a family meeting to preserve evidence of sexual abuse he suffered as a child, refuting claims the interaction was a joke or prank.

6d ago Khaosod

Tray Skott has clarified the origins of an audio recording made three years ago during a family meeting intended to protect himself, not as a joke. Following the release of a conversation clip between Tray Skott and his older brother Pai Sunisa, the social media community was shaken. Today (May 13), Tray Skott appeared on Channel 3's "Noon News Alert" program to explain the recording. He stated that the audio was recorded three years earlier during a family meeting after he disclosed an incident involving his nanny and sought help. Tray said he had a premonition and secretly recorded his brother to keep as evidence.

"Because I come from a family that has never recognized the truth as truth. I knew he would deny things the way he always does. I can no longer rely on him or his words. Because if given the chance, he would cover it up," Tray explained.

"But what everyone in the family knows is that for the past three years, he knew I had a recording. He knew I was telling the truth, but he did nothing. A child's instinct never forgets who was good to us and who hurt us," he added.

Tray also stated that the incident with his nanny occurred when he was approximately 8-9 years old, confirming it was not typical misconduct but sexual assault. Related incidents occurred between ages 9-13 and happened repeatedly over several years.

Regarding online speculation that this might be sibling horseplay, Tray responded emotionally: "I'm very hurt. What happened to me is not a joke or something funny. How can anyone call this kind of thing a prank? If anyone wants answers, listen to the entire audio clip. The recording makes it clear whether this is a joke or not, because everything is in there."

In response to Pai's denial that the incidents ever occurred, Tray stated: "Denial doesn't change the truth. I have no intention of arguing with someone who hurt me."

Tray also posted on Instagram Stories: "I still have audio clips and screenshots of other relatives. I've kept everything. Will I stop? Since childhood I never trusted you. I've kept it all."

The situation now awaits Pai Sunisa's response and whether he will issue another statement or clarification.
