Parliament Speaker Prepares to Submit Nathpong's Name for Royal Endorsement as Opposition Leader Today
Parliament Speaker is submitting Nathpong Rueangpanya's name today for royal endorsement as opposition leader, following the People's Party's decision to appoint him as party chief.
At 8:30 AM on April 27, 2025, at parliament, House Speaker Sophon Saraum discussed how the People's Party (PPP) has resolved to appoint Nathpong Rueangpanya, a list-based MP, as party leader. Since the People's Party is the leading opposition party, the constitution requires its leader to serve as the opposition leader in parliament. Once this process is complete, the formal petition for royal endorsement can be submitted following proper procedures. According to reports, the opposition leader nomination petition is currently being processed by the Office of the Secretary-General of the House of Representatives, which will present the documents for the speaker's signature today before forwarding them to the Royal Palace for further action.
