On May 13, rescue units from Sikhiu were called to help capture a large python that had fled into the engine compartment of a vehicle at a home in the Sikhiu Garden area, Sikhiu District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. Rescuers found a white Chevrolet pickup truck with Sakaew license plate parked at a rental house, with the python hidden inside the engine compartment.

Rescue workers carefully used equipment to capture the snake while onlookers watched anxiously. After about 20 minutes, they successfully removed the python and released it back into nature.

The vehicle owner explained that around 6:25 PM on May 13, he heard something crash into his front door. When he and his girlfriend came out to check, they discovered it was a large python. They tried to chase it away, but the snake instead darted into the engine compartment of their pickup truck, forcing them to call rescuers.

At 3:00 AM on May 14, 2025, a Facebook content creator known as "Start Channel" with over 20,000 followers posted a video showing large numbers of black-chin tilapia discovered at Pattaya Beach, causing alarm among local fishermen, squid hunters, and tourists who gathered to witness the event.

Start Oon Kayen, 40, the video's creator, revealed that he runs a fishing content channel covering various locations and regularly fishes and squid hunts at Pattaya Beach, attracting tens of thousands of followers. Recently, local fishermen alerted him to a large school of black-chin tilapia in the area, so he attempted to use fish traps to help remove them. The traps successfully caught a significant number of the fish, prompting concerns about the marine ecosystem's health at Pattaya Beach and questions about how these fish could survive in saltwater.

He has urged relevant authorities to urgently investigate and implement preventive measures, warning that if the black-chin tilapia population continues to spread, it could harm local aquatic species including fish and squid larvae, ultimately threatening the marine ecosystem and coastal fishing livelihoods.

The Meteorological Department has issued a weather warning for 45 provinces with heavy rainfall, strong winds affecting 60-70% of areas, particularly in the South which is experiencing the most severe conditions.
