A 29-year-old man, son of a police officer, died in a motorcycle-pickup truck collision on Bang Plee Industrial Estate Road in Samut Prakan on April 26, with the driver charged with reckless driving causing death.
On April 27, 2569, Police Lieutenant Colonel Worakrit Paruang, Deputy Investigator at Bang Sao Thong Police Station, disclosed that at 11:15 PM on April 26, they received a report of a pickup truck colliding with a motorcycle on the Bang Plee Industrial Estate Road heading toward Lad Wai, near Nikhom Soi 6, Bang Sao Thong District, Samut Prakan Province. Officers rushed to the scene with rescue personnel from Po Tek Tung Foundation.
At the scene, they found the body of Jakkarin (surname withheld), 29 years old, a son of a Bang Sao Thong Police Station officer, lying on his back. His girlfriend arrived to view the body, and rescue workers had to carefully monitor her condition, providing her a seat in the rescue vehicle due to concerns she might lose consciousness from shock.
The vehicle involved was a Mazda pickup truck with Bangkok license plates, parked within the soi approximately 100 meters from the accident site. Collision marks were found on the left door. The driver, Nuraphon (surname withheld), 44 years old, gave a statement to officers.
When questioned, Nuraphon stated he was driving from Lad Wai and turning into Bang Plee Industrial Estate when he failed to notice the motorcycle coming straight at him. The collision was violent, leaving the motorcyclist unconscious in the middle of the road. He immediately called for help, but the rider was already deceased.
According to the victim's friends and girlfriend, he had gone out to meet friends and was heading back to his room at a three-story residential project when he didn't arrive as expected. His girlfriend called looking for him, and a rescue worker answered the call, informing her of the accident.
Police summoned the pickup truck driver to Bang Sao Thong Police Station for further questioning and charged him with reckless driving causing death. The victim's father confirmed his son had not consumed any alcohol.
