Excise Department Launches Wine Fast Track System at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang Airports
Thailand's Excise Department launched a new Wine Fast Track digital system at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports to streamline wine imports, letting passengers pre-declare duties and taxes online before customs clearance.
The Excise Department has developed the 'Wine Fast Track' information system in partnership with the Customs Department to facilitate passengers importing wine into Thailand, according to Pornchai Thirawech, director-general of the Excise Department. The system reduces processing time, minimizes paperwork, and improves accuracy through digital data management. Passengers bringing between 1 and 10 liters of wine can use the system to check product values, excise taxes, customs duties, VAT, local taxes, and required fund contributions before confirming and paying through the platform. The Wine Fast Track can be accessed via the Excise Department website at www.excise.go.th or https://winefasttrack.excise.go.th, with an Android mobile app now available and iOS coming soon. Passengers pre-confirm their wine declaration and taxes through the system, then proceed to the red channel counter where officials verify information, collect duties, and stamp the bottle as proof of proper tax payment. The system aligns with government policy to modernize tax administration through digital technology while maintaining transparency and efficiency. Travelers should note that up to 1 liter of spirits is tax-exempt and can pass through the green channel, while amounts exceeding 1 liter but not more than 10 liters require the Wine Fast Track process. The department plans to continue developing digital services to improve convenience, speed, and transparency while ensuring accurate and internationally-standard tax collection.
