Today's Weather: Meteorological Department Names 55 Provinces Under Heavy Rain Alert, Bangkok Faces Full Impact
Thailand's Meteorological Department has issued a severe weather alert for 55 provinces, with heavy thunderstorms, strong winds, and hail expected across much of the country, particularly affecting Bangkok and central Thailand. Upper Thailand and the Northeast face the most dangerous conditions with 60 percent rainfall coverage and risks of hail and powerful gusts, while Southern Thailand will experience increasing rain through May 8. Residents are warned to avoid open areas and stay alert for flooding, with fishermen advised to avoid the seas due to high waves accompanying thunderstorms.
The Thai Meteorological Department has issued a severe weather alert for 55 provinces on May 5, 2569, warning of thunderstorms affecting 60 percent of areas in the central region, with Bangkok and surrounding areas experiencing full impact. Strong winds, hail, and heavy rainfall are expected across upper Thailand due to a high-pressure system and cold air mass from China covering the Northeast and South China Sea. Residents are urged to avoid open areas, large trees, weak structures, and unstable billboards. Farmers should reinforce fruit trees and prepare protective measures for crops and livestock while monitoring their health during weather changes.
The Southern region will experience scattered thunderstorms from easterly and southeasterly winds affecting the Gulf of Thailand, Southern Thailand, and Andaman Sea. From May 6-8, 2569, rainfall will increase with heavy showers in some areas of lower Southern Thailand due to an easterly wind wave. Sea conditions in the Gulf of Thailand and Andaman Sea will have waves approximately 1 meter high, with areas under thunderstorms experiencing waves exceeding 2 meters. Fishermen are advised to exercise extra caution and avoid thunderstorm areas.
