Aggressive King Cobra Found Nesting During Home Renovation in Nakhon Nayok

Rescue workers in Nakhon Nayok successfully captured a large, aggressive king cobra that was nesting in a bamboo grove near a home undergoing renovation on May 14, 2025. The 3-meter-long cobra, which weighed about 20 kilograms, was found brooding four eggs before being relocated to its natural habitat. Workers were startled when they discovered the threatening snake while cutting bamboo to build a painting station for the home renovation project.

5d ago Khaosod

On May 14, 2025, the Sawang Ariyadej Radio Rescue Center in Nakhon Nayok received a report of an aggressive king cobra nesting in a bamboo grove beside the home of Supchai Ketruangrojn (house number 3-452). The discovery was made when construction workers hired to renovate and paint the house began cutting bamboo nearby to build a painting station. The workers found the large cobra in an aggressive state, brooding eggs inside a burrow in the bamboo grove, and immediately alerted the homeowner to call rescue services.

When rescue officers arrived at the scene, they found the cobra's head protruding from the burrow opening as it brooded its eggs. After using a bamboo pole to probe the hole, the cobra retreated deeper underground. Officers then widened the burrow opening with a shovel and discovered four cobra eggs, which they carefully extracted and placed on the ground.

To extract the snake itself, rescuers sprayed mosquito repellent into the burrow, which was approximately 5 meters deep. The pungent odor drove the cobra to emerge from the hole, allowing rescue officers to successfully capture it using tongs and place it in a fertilizer bag.

The cobra measured 3 meters in length and weighed approximately 20 kilograms. The captured snake was subsequently released in a natural habitat. Afterward, workers gave journalists a tour of the house address to check nearby lottery numbers ahead of the upcoming drawing.

Heartbreaking: Single Mother from Indonesia Sells Home to Fund Daughter's Wedding, Left Living in Riverside Shack

A 57-year-old Indonesian single mother named Siti Sumanah sold her home to pay for her daughter's wedding, leaving her family homeless and now living in a tiny riverside shelter. After her husband's death from illness and years of financial hardship, the story went viral and prompted local authorities to provide assistance including essential supplies and plans for a new house. The family's struggle highlights the sacrifices many single parents make for their children's futures.

5d ago Khaosod

A heartwarming yet sorrowful story that has sparked considerable discussion online: Siti Sumanah, a 57-year-old single mother from Central Java, Indonesia, made the difficult decision to sell her own home to fund her eldest daughter's wedding, leaving her now living in a small riverside shack with her younger child.

Local media reports that Siti has been living in a modest 3×4 meter shelter with an asbestos roof and canvas walls for several months after selling her previous home to raise wedding funds for her eldest daughter.

Siti revealed that she had almost no time to prepare because the groom's family suddenly accelerated the wedding timeline to just one month away, forcing her to raise the necessary funds within an extremely tight deadline.

Siti's husband suffered from a cerebral vascular disease before passing away last year. Previously, her husband's illness left him unable to work, forcing Siti to become the sole breadwinner for the family. He passed away in November of the previous year, further deteriorating the family's financial situation.

Additionally, one of her children was forced to drop out of school in middle grade two years ago due to family financial hardship. The child had to help their mother work at a satay food stall but was later laid off.

Currently, Siti earns a living by selling small food and beverages in front of her riverside shelter.

After the story went viral on social media, it garnered sympathy from countless netizens. Eventually, local authorities in the Kudus district became aware of the situation and sent officials to investigate the family's living conditions.

Officials provided essential items including rice, bedding, and blankets to the family and announced they would provide educational support for her children to enable them to return to school.

The authorities also plan to help build a new house for Siti's family, though they must first evaluate the suitability of the riverside area where the family currently resides before proceeding further.

What Makes a "Wealthy Hand" According to Feng Shui? Plus Hand Care Tips to "Open Your Destiny Line"

This article explores the traditional Chinese feng shui and palmistry beliefs about "wealthy hands," which suggest that hand shape, palm color, and palm lines may reflect financial destiny and life success. The piece details specific hand characteristics believed to indicate wealth, such as full palms, long slender fingers, and clear destiny lines, while offering practical hand care tips to enhance appearance and confidence regardless of these beliefs.

5d ago Khaosod

"Wealth-attracting hands" or "wealthy hand characteristics" have gained attention in wellness and beauty circles, particularly the belief that hand shape, palm color, and palm lines may reflect destiny, finances, and life success. While currently there is no scientific evidence confirming that hand characteristics can truly determine wealth, Chinese feng shui and palmistry remain influential beliefs across many cultures, especially in Asia.

Origins of the "Wealthy Hand" Belief

The concept of wealth-attracting hands stems from various combined disciplines, including: - Chinese feng shui (observing body and facial characteristics) - Palmistry, or reading palm lines - Ancient Chinese concepts of "chi" or life force energy - The belief that physical condition reflects luck, destiny, and status

Ancient Chinese people believed that the "hand" was one of the points reflecting life force and the flow of fortune. This led to interpretations of various hand characteristics as connected to financial destiny and success.

Ancient Beliefs About "Wealthy Hand" Characteristics

1. Full, Fleshy Palms This is considered one of the primary characteristics of a "wealth-holding hand." According to classical texts, people with full, non-dry palms without prominent bones are typically believed to have stable financial standing, savings, and good life support. Symbolically, a complete-looking hand is seen as "wealth that doesn't leak away."

2. Long, Slender Fingers with Rounded Tips Many palmistry schools believe this finger type is associated with: - Strong negotiation skills - Attention to detail - Money management ability - Business acumen

Rounded fingertips are also viewed as indicating flexibility and ease with people, historically considered a trait of those skilled at spotting opportunities.

3. Pink-Toned Palm with Good Blood Circulation Ancient Chinese medicine practitioners believed skin color reflects health and life force. A rosy palm was interpreted as a sign of good energy, good fortune, and smooth financial circulation. In contrast, pale or very dark hands were sometimes seen as indicating fatigue and depleted energy.

4. Strong, Fleshy Thumb at the Base In palmistry, the thumb is viewed as representing "willpower" and "ability to control one's life." People with well-formed thumbs are typically interpreted as having: - Leadership qualities - Decisive decision-making - Strong money management skills - Good survival abilities

5. Clear, Unbroken Destiny Line The destiny line, or Fate Line, is the vertical line in the center of the palm. According to belief, it connects to work, life path, and financial stability. If the line is continuous, clear, and unbroken, it's often called a "self-made destiny."

"Cupped Hand" - A Popular Belief Among Believers

Another frequently mentioned belief involves curling your fingers together and observing your palm shape. If your palm curves like a cup with no large gaps, it's believed you are someone who: - Saves money - Doesn't lose money - Has financial luck

This concept is a symbolic Chinese belief comparing it to "if a hand can hold water, it can hold wealth."

Hand Care Methods to "Open Your Destiny Line" from Beauty and Personality Perspectives

Although "opening the destiny line" is a belief, skincare experts acknowledge that healthy-looking hands genuinely enhance appearance, confidence, and first impressions, especially in professions requiring people interaction.

1. Apply Cream After Every Hand Wash Frequent hand washing causes skin to lose moisture. Dermatologists recommend applying cream immediately after washing to help retain skin hydration. Popular ingredients include: - Ceramides - Glycerin - Shea Butter - Hyaluronic Acid

2. Apply Sunscreen to the Back of Hands The back of hands receives cumulative sun exposure but is often neglected. UV rays cause dark spots, wrinkles, and premature aging. [Content continues but appears incomplete in the original]

Swedish Man Attacked by Brother-in-Law with Machete, Requiring 21 Stitches, Over Three Dead Chicks

A 61-year-old Swedish man was attacked with a machete by his brother-in-law in Sisaket Province after accidentally running over three chicks, suffering severe head injuries requiring 21 stitches. The attacker claimed self-defense from a threat, but police charged him with attempted murder as the case involved a public road dispute escalating from accumulated family tensions. The victim now faces neurological complications and anxiety while awaiting justice, as his attacker remains his neighbor.

5d ago Khaosod

A 61-year-old Swedish national named Jimmy, along with his 58-year-old Thai wife Kalya, filed a complaint on May 14, 2569 through the "Lanta Sai Yai Tong Rawd" Facebook page after being attacked by his brother-in-law Surapol with a machete, resulting in serious head injuries. The incident occurred on March 28 in Khukhan District, Sisaket Province.

The conflict began when Jimmy accidentally ran over three chicks while driving to a garden, failing to notice them on the road. After the chick carcasses were found placed in the house, Surapol waited outside with a machete that evening, attempting to attack Jimmy while he was in his car. Despite relatives attempting to intervene and Jimmy getting out of the car to attempt negotiation and reconciliation, Surapol struck him in the back of the head, causing a severe laceration requiring over 21 stitches. Jimmy was hospitalized for more than a week.

Kalya believes the chicks were merely a pretext, and that the real cause stems from accumulated tensions between the two families over longstanding disputes, including a previous incident involving dogs. Although village elders previously resolved that matter, tensions remained. Surapol claims Jimmy threatened to beat him with a stick first, forcing him to use the machete in self-defense.

Khukhan Police have charged Surapol with "attempted murder" and are gathering evidence for prosecution. Jimmy remains uncompensated and suffers from neurological problems, poor memory, partial leg paralysis, and severe anxiety, as the perpetrator still lives directly across from him and the case remains unresolved.

Ekapon Luang Prasert, founder of the "Lanta Sai Yai Tong Rawd" page, stated that the incident is deeply troubling, expressing sympathy for the foreigner victim who had no intention of hitting the chicks. He emphasized that a machete attack on a public road was unjustified and believes the case has clear evidence. He pledged to coordinate with local police and the Ministry of Justice to seek witness protection and compensation for the victim, while arranging a lawyer from the page to follow the case. He assured all foreign residents that Thai law provides equal protection for both Thai and foreign nationals.

Parliament Halts Agenda on 400 Billion Baht Borrowing Decree, Awaits Constitutional Court Ruling Within 60 Days

Parliament has suspended debate on a proposed 400 billion baht royal decree for energy crisis management and transition after opposition MPs filed a constitutional challenge. The Constitutional Court now has 60 days to rule on whether the decree violates Thailand's constitution, with any unconstitutionality determination requiring at least six of nine justices' approval to invalidate it.

5d ago Khaosod

Parliament postponed the agenda on the 400 billion baht borrowing decree on May 14, 2025, at the House of Representatives meeting. Second Vice Speaker Lert Sakthaichaikhul informed the chamber about the Cabinet's approval of the royal decree granting the Finance Ministry authority to borrow funds to address energy crisis impacts and facilitate Thailand's energy transition, totaling 400 billion baht. Before Speaker Sophon Sarameh could bring the matter to the agenda, Natthapon Rueangphaniyavut, list MP and Democrat Party leader, led 135 MPs—representing more than one-fifth of all MPs—in filing a petition requesting the Speaker refer the decree to the Constitutional Court, challenging its constitutionality under Article 172. Consequently, the decree's agenda item has been suspended pending the Constitutional Court's ruling, as mandated by Article 173 of the Constitution. Under Article 173, the Constitutional Court must complete its review within 60 days of receipt and notify the Speaker of its decision. Should the court rule the decree unconstitutional under Article 172, it will be void from inception. Any such ruling requires approval from at least two-thirds of all Constitutional Court justices—currently six votes out of nine justices. According to reports, Speaker Sophon submitted the petition to the Constitutional Court on May 12, and the court's office has already registered it.

Ex-Girlfriend Questioned in Case of Man Accused of Killing Mistress; Suspect to Be Detained Today as CCTV Captures Body Being Placed in Vehicle

A 40-year-old man surrendered to police with his girlfriend's body after fatally assaulting her in a jealous rage at a boarding house in Nonthaburi. Police have charged him with intentional homicide and plan to detain him today, while also questioning his ex-wife and the victim's friend as key witnesses. CCTV footage captured the crucial moment when he carried the body from the room and loaded it into his vehicle before turning himself in.

5d ago Khaosod

A 40-year-old man named Winai (surname withheld) fatally assaulted his mistress, identified as Joy (surname withheld), before deciding to place her body in his sedan and drive to Bang Bua Thong Police Station to turn himself in. He claimed he became enraged after discovering she had secretly checked into a hotel with another man, prompting him to kick and strike her repeatedly until she died. Upon waking that morning, he found her lifeless.

Deputy Metropolitan Police Commander Chokechai Chanajaroen arrived at Bang Bua Thong Police Station to interrogate Winai. According to the interrogation, before the incident, the victim and suspect had been drinking together, then returned to the boarding house where they argued and fought physically around 1-2 AM before separating to sleep. The suspect believed nothing serious had occurred. At 7 AM, he left to drive a motorcycle taxi as usual and returned to the boarding house at noon on May 13, only to discover his girlfriend dead.

In a moment of panic, the suspect carried the body from the boarding house, placed it in his sedan, and drove around aimlessly before calling his ex-wife for advice. She encouraged him to turn himself in. During questioning, he revealed that his ex-wife was the one who drove him to surrender. The investigation will now summon both the victim's friend and his ex-wife as witnesses.

The initial charge is intentional homicide, with other charges under investigation. Following interrogation, the suspect will be brought before Nonthaburi Provincial Court for detention today. Security camera footage from the boarding house captured the moment at 3:24 PM on May 13 when Winai carried Joy's body—already showing signs of rigor mortis—from room 106 and placed it in the passenger seat of his vehicle before driving away.
