Neighborhood Alarmed After Woman Discovers Mysterious Bag at School Entrance Containing Important Documents

A woman found an abandoned black bag at a school entrance in Rayong on April 25th, prompting police to cordon off the area; inside were clothes and a divorce document rather than any dangerous items.

26 Apr Khaosod

On April 26th, authorities reported that at 6:30 PM the previous day, an incident unfolded near Sukhumvit Road at the entrance to Phraksa Matawitthaya Rayong School. A concerned citizen notified police after discovering a black bag abandoned on the roadside in suspicious circumstances, raising fears it might contain a dangerous object and alarming passersby. Police units immediately rushed to inspect the area and cordoned off the surrounding zone to ensure safety, preventing unauthorized persons from approaching as school dismissal time meant numerous students and parents were present. Officers carefully examined the bag amid tense observation from onlookers, and when opened, everyone was surprised to find no dangerous items whatsoever. Instead, the bag was crammed full of clothing, and what shocked many was the discovery of a divorce document folded inside. Preliminary investigation suggests the bag may have belonged to someone facing personal or relationship difficulties who abandoned their belongings. Authorities continue examining the documents and reviewing nearby CCTV footage to identify the bag's owner and determine the true reason it was left there. Police have issued a public reminder that if anyone discovers a suspicious object in a public area, they should not attempt to open or touch it themselves, but should immediately report it to authorities to prevent potential dangers.

Village Chief Drags Young Man from Bedroom, Chains Him to Mango Tree in Brutal Four-Hour Torture

A village chief in Phatthalung Province allegedly tortured a 28-year-old man by chaining him to a mango tree and subjecting him to beatings and ant bites for over four hours, claiming he stole a beetle. The victim's family has filed a complaint, questioning why the chief did not hand the young man over to police if a crime occurred, and describing the punishment as brutal and excessive.

26 Apr Khaosod

On April 26, 2025, a complaint was filed by Somthorn (surname withheld), 49, and her sister-in-law Amornrat (surname withheld), 36, on behalf of their relative Suthep (surname withheld), 28, seeking justice. According to their account, a village chief from Si Nakharin District in Phatthalung Province forcibly removed Suthep from his bed while he slept and placed handcuffs on him. The chief then tied Suthep to a mango tree in front of the house, struck him in the face twice until his eyes were bruised, and kicked him once more.

The chief then brought four ant nests and placed them on Suthep's head (three nests) and beside him (one nest), claiming he had video evidence that Suthep had stolen a beetle from villagers. The ants attacked and bit the young man, causing blood to pour from his nose as he writhed in agony for over four hours while the chief refused to remove the handcuffs. Fearing for his nephew's life, a family member drove to Si Nakharin Police Station to request police assistance in removing the handcuffs.

When police arrived and removed the handcuffs, they found Suthep's body covered in ant bites from head to toe, with visible scratches at the base of the mango tree from his struggle against the pain. When questioned, Suthep explained that the chief had accused him of stealing a beetle, but he was actually retrieving an empty plastic bag to use for fishing bait from a beetle farm—not stealing any beetles. He noted that the video footage the chief showed contained only an empty plastic bag with no beetle inside, but the chief refused to listen and proceeded with the torture. The beetle owner later agreed not to press charges, and police advised him to stop the behavior.

Suthep admitted to occasional drug use (two pills daily) but stated the money came from grass-cutting work, not theft. He also acknowledged that he had stolen from villagers in the past while living in Had Yai District, but claimed he had reformed over the past year since moving back home and had not stolen anything since.

Suthep's aunt stated that while they would accept punishment if he was guilty, the chief's actions were excessive and disproportionate. Handcuffing him to a tree, beating him, and using ants as torture for four hours went far beyond appropriate discipline. She noted that police arrived two hours into the ordeal but could not release him because they didn't have the key and the chief refused to unlock the handcuffs. It wasn't until four hours had passed and family members came to police requesting Suthep's release that he was finally freed, suffering from pain and trauma throughout his entire body.

Pickup Truck Swerves to Avoid Motorcycle, Flips During Songkran Festival Trip; Five Injured

A pickup truck swerved to avoid a motorcycle during Songkran festivities and flipped on its side on an Ayutthaya highway, injuring five male passengers who were trapped inside the vehicle.

26 Apr Khaosod

A young pickup truck driver heading to Songkran celebrations was forced to swerve when a motorcycle cut in front of him, causing him to lose control, hit a barrier, and flip onto its side. Five male passengers were severely injured, trapped and piled on top of each other inside the vehicle.

On April 26, 2569, Bang Pa-in Police investigators revealed that at 10 p.m. on April 25, they received a report of a flipped pickup truck on Asia Road, southbound lane at kilometer 15 in Ban Krot, Bang Pa-in District, Ayutthaya Province. Rescue teams from the Ayutthaya United Association responded immediately.

At the scene, they found an Isuzu pickup registered in Ayutthaya flipped on its side in the far right lane with severe damage. Inside, five male victims were trapped and compressed against each other. Rescue workers carefully extracted them one by one through the broken windshield before providing first aid and transporting them to Ratchadamnoen Hospital.

According to 20-year-old Werotsorn (surname withheld), one of the injured, the group was traveling from Bang Pa-in District heading to Songkran festivities in Ayutthaya city when a motorcycle suddenly cut in front of them. The driver swerved sharply, causing the truck to lose control and crash into the left barrier, then spin and hit the center barrier on the right before flipping over.

Initial investigation found impact marks on the left barrier with vehicle debris scattered across the road. Investigators believe the truck hit the left barrier, spun, struck the center barrier, and flipped. No other vehicles hit the truck afterward, so there were no fatalities.

Police will conduct further detailed interviews with the injured to determine the exact cause of the accident.

Motorcycle Plunges into 5-Meter Deep Water Pipe Pit; Man Escapes, Woman Critically Injured

A motorcycle plunged into a 5-meter-deep water pipe pit on a Bangkok road on April 25, critically injuring a 49-year-old woman while the male driver escaped; authorities are investigating whether adequate warning signs were posted at the co

26 Apr Khaosod

On April 26, 2569, Deputy Inspector Noprat Bunsri of Rattanathebesorn Police Station revealed that at 11 p.m. on April 25, officers received a report of a motorcycle that had plunged into an underground water pipe pit on Pracha Chuen Road near Pracha Chuen 4 Alley, Bang Khen Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nonthaburi Province. They rushed to the scene with volunteers from the Po Teck Tung Foundation.

The accident occurred on a four-lane road on the inbound side toward the Phong Phetchburi intersection. Water utility workers had opened a pit measuring 2 meters wide, 4 meters long, and 5 meters deep to lay large underground water pipes. Two people had fallen into the pit along with a motorcycle, with one person managing to climb out.

Rescue teams then used rappelling equipment to lower personnel and retrieve the other victim, identified as Ratchasunee (surname withheld), 49 years old, who was suffering from serious head injuries. She was transported to Mongkutwattana Hospital. The black and red Honda PCX motorcycle bearing Bangkok license plates was also recovered from the pit.

When questioned, driver Manop (surname withheld), 50 years old, stated he could not see the pit opening and his motorcycle plunged in. He had been driving to drop off his younger companion at a condominium. After falling in, he managed to climb out but was concerned about his companion still in the pit.

Eighteen-year-old worker Danai (surname withheld) stated that at the time of the accident, he was sitting on the back of a 10-wheel truck near the pit's edge. When he saw the motorcycle fall in, he initially spotted only a man, who later climbed out. Upon checking again, he found a woman unconscious in the water. He then entered the pit and held her above the water line.

Footage from security cameras showed that water pipe workers had used a 10-wheel truck to block the leftmost lane while opening the pit, allowing traffic to use the right lanes with traffic cones placed in a line. At 10:37 p.m., the injured motorcyclist's vehicle sped into the pit before the driver climbed out to call for help.

Police plan to summon the water pipe work supervisor for questioning and will investigate whether proper warning signs and lights were posted during the work. The two injured victims will be questioned after receiving medical treatment.

Today's Weather: Meteorological Department Names 45 Provinces Under Heavy Rain Alert, Including Bangkok

Thailand's Meteorological Department warns of heavy rainfall affecting 45 provinces with up to 40% coverage, strong winds, and severe conditions particularly in northern regions through May 1. A new round of summer storms featuring thunderstorms, hail, and lightning is expected to impact northern Thailand between April 28 and May 1, with the northern and central regions also experiencing hazardous dust and haze levels. Residents are urged to take precautions against dangerous weather conditions and maintain health during this volatile weather period.

25 Apr Khaosod

On April 26, 2025, the Thai Meteorological Department forecasted that rainfall in northern Thailand will begin to decrease over the next 24 hours, though thunderstorms with strong gusty winds and heavy rain remain possible in some areas across the northern region. Southern and southeast winds are bringing moisture from the Gulf of Thailand and South China Sea, affecting the northeastern, northern, central regions, Bangkok and its surrounding areas, with weakening conditions in the eastern region. Residents in affected areas should remain alert to dangers from thunderstorms, strong winds, and heavy rainfall while maintaining health precautions during this weather transition.

A second summer storm system is expected to develop across northern Thailand between April 28 and May 1, featuring thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, hail in some areas, and possible lightning strikes, beginning in the northeastern, northern, and eastern regions before affecting the central region and Bangkok area. Additionally, dust and haze accumulation in the northern and upper central regions currently exceeds air quality standards due to high heat source density surpassing air circulation capacity. The public is advised to avoid open areas and wear N95 masks when outdoors for safety.

Detailed provincial forecasts show the northern region with afternoon heat, 40% thunderstorm coverage, strong winds, and heavy rain in areas including Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lampang, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Tak, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun, with temperatures between 21-38°C. The northeastern region expects 40% thunderstorm coverage in provinces like Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Udon Thani, Chaiyaphum, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, and Ubon Ratchathani, with temperatures 22-34°C. The eastern region expects afternoon heat with 30% thunderstorm coverage in provinces such as Nakhon Nayok, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat, with temperatures 24-38°C and 1-meter waves, higher in thunderstorm areas.
