Meteorological Department Warns of Heavy Rain and Strong Winds Tomorrow—33 Provinces at Risk
Thunderstorms and strong winds will affect 33 Thai provinces through May 1, with the north facing the heaviest rain and hail expected from April 28 onward. Air quality concerns persist in northern regions due to heat and dust accumulation.
The Thai Meteorological Department forecasted weather conditions for the next 24 hours on April 26, 2569. While rainfall is expected to decrease in northern Thailand, thunderstorms with strong gusts and heavy rain in some areas will persist due to southerly and southeastern winds covering the region. The public is urged to stay alert for potential hazards from thunderstorms, strong winds, and heavy precipitation, and to maintain good health during this weather transition.
The southern region will experience scattered thunderstorms as easterly and southeastern winds blanket the Gulf of Thailand, southern region, and Andaman Sea.
From April 28 to May 1, 2569, summer storms are forecast across northern Thailand, characterized by thunderstorms, strong winds, hail in some areas, and possible lightning strikes. These storms will begin in the northeastern, northern, and eastern regions, with the central region, Bangkok, and its surrounding areas affected later. This is due to a high-pressure system and a mass of cold air from China moving to cover the South China Sea and northeastern Thailand, while northern Thailand experiences hot conditions.
Air quality remains a concern in the northern region, with dust and haze accumulation exceeding safety standards in some areas due to high concentrations of heat sources in the north and surrounding areas exceeding ventilation capacity. The public is advised to avoid outdoor areas and wear N95 masks for safety when outside.
