Terrifying Near-Miss: Car Struck by Train at Bangkok Intersection After Failed Warning System and Barriers

A TikTok creator narrowly escaped a train collision at a Bangkok railway crossing after safety barriers failed and warning signals did not activate, forcing him to reverse his car to safety as the train approached.

3d ago Khaosod

On May 23, 2569, TikTok creator Prapitch Mukda described a frightening experience when his car became trapped on railway tracks beneath BTS Phayathai station late at night, with no warning signals and non-functioning safety barriers. He had just finished work and was heading home via a ride-hailing app when he reached the railway crossing below the BTS station. As his car passed halfway across the tracks and began straddling them, a train suddenly approached from the left at dangerously close range, with the train operator attempting emergency braking as well. The driver spotted the train's headlights flashing nearby and, remaining calm under pressure, immediately shifted into reverse and managed to back away to safety, despite another vehicle following behind him, resulting in no injuries.

Mukda confirmed that there were no warning sounds and the safety barriers never came down as the train approached—a terrifying situation in the heart of the city. After the train passed, concerned citizens checked the control booth to see if staff were present, but the cause of the failure remained unclear. Mukda expressed profound shock, stating his nerves were unsettled for over three hours afterward. He questioned why safety protocols and staff training hadn't improved following recent fatal railway accidents, emphasizing that responsible officials managing life-or-death systems must implement stricter employee training and organizational discipline. He urged relevant authorities to recognize that "people have only one life" and safety must be taken with utmost seriousness.

3 Condiments That Must Be Refrigerated After Opening—Never Leave Them Out

Three condiments—high-protein sauces, fermented products, and oils—must be refrigerated after opening to prevent bacterial growth, mold toxins, and fat oxidation that can cause food poisoning or health damage.

Three Condiments That Must Be Refrigerated After Opening—Never Leave Them Out. Risk of bacterial contamination with warning about four habits to avoid. Compiled by Sanook News Online team on May 23, 2025. Foreign media report: Don't store condiments near heat sources! Especially these three types of seasonings—once opened, they should be refrigerated immediately for safety. Improper storage of condiments not only spoils flavor and wastes food, but can also harbor pathogens, toxins, and accumulated bacteria.

Here are three groups of condiments that should be refrigerated immediately after opening, because leaving them at room temperature means what you eat daily may not be nutrition but rather a breeding ground for disease:

1. Sauces and seasonings high in water and protein Whether oyster sauce, soy sauce, black bean sauce, or mayonnaise—all are high-moisture products rich in protein. While sealed in packaging, these sauces are sterile from industrial processing, but the moment you open the lid, outside air and moisture trigger rapid bacterial spore growth. Left at room temperature, especially in hot, humid weather, these sauces spoil easily and become contaminated. They also risk mold growth that can produce aflatoxin, a dangerous toxin that damages liver cells and increases cancer risk if accumulated in the body long-term. Therefore, after each use, seal tightly and refrigerate immediately to prevent microbial contamination.

2. Fermented condiments Soy sauce, soybean paste, miso, shrimp paste, and pickled chilies are all products from beneficial microorganism fermentation. However, the microorganisms and enzymes in these products don't disappear—they're merely dormant. When opened and stored at room temperature, especially in warm conditions, microorganisms and yeast reactivate. Uncontrolled re-fermentation can alter color, smell, and structure, causing deterioration. Consumption may cause digestive tract irritation or food poisoning. Refrigeration slows fermentation and maintains product quality.

3. High-fat or high-oil condiments Many mistakenly believe oily foods don't spoil easily, leaving chili oil, hot oil, or peanut butter on kitchen shelves without worry—a serious misconception. Fats in these condiments are sensitive to light and high heat. Exposed to steam from gas stoves or kitchen heat, fat oxidation occurs rapidly, creating free radicals and toxic compounds with foul odors. Regular consumption of oxidized fat may harm digestion and overwork the liver. Refrigeration slows these chemical reactions, keeping oils and fats safe for consumption.

Dangerous habits to stop immediately when using condiments Beyond choosing proper storage locations, daily usage habits affect food cleanliness and safety. To protect family health, avoid these habits strictly:

Storing condiments near stoves or heat sources This is the most common mistake in many kitchens, as steam and moisture from cooking accelerate fat oxidation and bacterial growth.

3d ago Khaosod

Having previously experienced heartbreak, Ob Obniti and Prang Kanyanphon opened up on the WandOland program about their new relationship, which has renewed many people's faith that true love still exists. The couple acknowledged that love isn't just about happiness—it also involves insecurity and old wounds that need gradual healing, requiring honest communication, sincere apologies, and choosing to be authentic without forcing change to be loved. Prang became emotional during the show, revealing that this love is so beautiful she fears it might one day disappear.

When asked what had changed about herself over the past two years, Prang shared that she's been fond of Ob from the first day, watching him transition from non-boyfriend status to becoming her boyfriend. She recalls staring at his face and saying, "I still can't get used to this," amazed that someone she once saw from a distance is now sitting beside her on the sofa watching movies together. She never imagined this junior colleague in the entertainment industry would become her boyfriend, and she finds it amusing that she can't believe this person is now beside her in a different capacity.

When asked when they felt the relationship shift, Ob explained that it happened gradually, with increased opportunities to talk as everyone supported them 200 percent. Prang mentioned that appearing on the WandOland program brought them together, and whenever the show aired, they'd discuss it. Ob added that both returning to make music and consulting each other about problems and techniques they encountered in their artistic pursuits deepened their conversations.

Both acknowledged that every relationship contains both joy and sorrow, and there's never a time when love is purely happiness—you have to get the first button right before anything else. Ob expressed being deeply moved by people telling him that witnessing their relationship has restored their faith in love. He shared a story of someone who approached him saying they had given up on love after repeated disappointment, but seeing their relationship rekindled hope and made them believe good love could happen again.

When asked what he promised himself he wouldn't repeat from past relationships, Ob admitted that he used to hold things back, felt shy, struggled to express himself, and wasn't comfortable showing affection publicly. He realized that sometimes he wouldn't voice his dissatisfaction, wouldn't express appreciation for good things, or wouldn't make his loved ones feel seen. He acknowledged that while he envisioned a future with Prang in his dreams, he never actually told her, which might have made her uncertain about what he wanted or how long she needed to wait. He reflected on how this could have caused her to feel a certain way, and he's since changed this pattern.

Promoting Digital Economy: OTOD #3 Launches in Ayutthaya to Upgrade Rice Mills and Support Digital Agriculture

Thailand's Digital Economy Promotion Office launches its third One Tambon One Digital program in Ayutthaya, introducing digital agriculture technology to rice farmers in the country's central agricultural heartland.

3d ago Khaosod

The Digital Economy Promotion Office (DEPO) is rolling out the One Tambon One Digital Season 3 (OTOD #3) program to Ayutthaya province as its fourth location, under the OTOD #3 Accelerate Digital Agriculture & Pitching Day central region initiative.

Ayutthaya, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a major agricultural hub of central Thailand known as the "rice granary and water hub," has been selected as an economic center that merges world heritage with modern production capabilities. The initiative aims to rapidly elevate farmers and communities toward Smart Agriculture through accessible digital technology, addressing productivity increases, cost reduction, precise farm management, and sustainable community income generation.

The OTOD #3 Accelerate Digital Agriculture & Pitching Day central region event took place May 21-22, 2026 at The Kavali Casa Resort in Ayutthaya, with Deputy Governor Worawit Yorsaeng presiding over the opening ceremony. The event was attended by over 220 participants from government agencies, private sector, digital technology providers, farmers, and community groups.

Bunthawee Duangniracha, Acting Director of Community Promotion and Development at DEPO, explained that OTOD #3 is not merely a training or budget support program, but a crucial mechanism connecting community needs with standardized digital technology. "The heart of OTOD #3 is making technology accessible as a practical tool for communities through the Accelerate Digital Agriculture activities, AgriTech Showcase exhibitions, business-technology provider matchmaking, and Pitching Day forums that enable communities and entrepreneurs to present ideas for DEPO support."

Deputy Governor Worawit Yorsaeng noted that while Ayutthaya is known as a historical and world heritage city, it is also a province with significant agricultural foundations, particularly rice and central region economic crops. He emphasized that modern agricultural development must consider not only yield per acre but also cost, quality, and sustainability.

Truck Mechanic Arrested Within 3 Days for Child Sexual Abuse; Used Candy and Toys to Lure 12-Year-Old Victim

A 55-year-old truck mechanic was arrested in Nakhon Nayok within three days of a 12-year-old girl reporting repeated sexual abuse, which he facilitated by using candy and toys to gain her family's trust.

3d ago Khaosod

On May 23, 2569, Pol. Lt. Col. Pattanasak Bupphasuwan, commanding officer of the Crime Suppression Division, ordered officers including Pol. Maj. Thanawat Hingyokhin and Pol. Lt. Col. Piyawat Prab to arrest Prasert (surname withheld), age 55, pursuant to an arrest warrant from Nakhon Nayok Provincial Court no. 50/2569, issued on May 15, 2569. He faces charges of child abduction and child sexual abuse. The arrest was made in Nakhon Nayok province.

According to the investigation, Prasert worked as a truck mechanic at an auto repair shop run by relatives of the victim's family. He had built a close relationship with the victim's family over time and displayed behavior as a "child lover," frequently bringing candy and toys for the 12-year-old granddaughter of Ms. Or (pseudonym), the victim's mother. This trust made the family lower their guard.

Presert exploited this trust by luring the girl with candy and toys before sexually abusing her in his pickup truck. He also invited her to go fishing in secluded rice fields for repeated sexual abuse, occurring at least 10 times in total.

On May 15, the girl found the courage to tell her parents about all the incidents and filed a report at Muang Nakhon Nayok Police Station. Officers immediately conducted a physical examination at Nakhon Nayok Hospital, which confirmed sexual abuse. Police gathered evidence and obtained an arrest warrant. The suspect was apprehended within just three days. During questioning, the suspect denied the charges and was transferred to Muang Nakhon Nayok Police Station for further prosecution.

Cat lovers rejoice: Syros, a small island in Greece, is recruiting volunteers to care for cats in exchange for free housing, breakfast, and basic utilities. The program accepts both individual volunteers and couples who are in good health, mature, self-sufficient, and able to commit to at least one month of work. Volunteers will receive accommodation, breakfast, and utilities while working approximately five hours per day, five days per week. Those with veterinary assistant experience or prior experience caring for stray cats will receive special consideration, though the organization welcomes all dedicated cat lovers who are hardworking, responsible, and punctual.

The program prefers applicants with prior work experience, noting that those under 25 may struggle to demonstrate the independence and decision-making skills essential for this role. Typically, about four volunteers work during each rotation period, coming from diverse countries and cultures. Volunteers must be open-minded and respectful of cultural, racial, gender, and religious differences they may encounter both within the organization and in Greece. They will live in a shared house arrangement with private bedrooms but communal kitchens, bathrooms, and living areas shared with two to three other volunteers.

The organization has officially closed applications for 2026 after receiving overwhelming interest from cat lovers worldwide, but applications for 2027 will reopen in September 2026.

Warning to Businesses: Submit 2568 Financial Statements by June 2 or Face Penalties

Businesses must submit 2568 financial statements to Thailand's Department of Business Development by June 2, 2569, or face legal penalties and potential deregistration.

3d ago Khaosod

The Department of Business Development has warned entrepreneurs to submit their financial statements for the accounting year ending December 31, 2568, by June 2, 2569, or face legal penalties.

Department Director Poonpong Naiyanaphakon of the Commerce Ministry stated that filing financial statements is a legal obligation for all businesses. Companies with accounting years ending December 31, 2568, must pay close attention to deadlines. Limited companies, public companies, trade associations, and chambers of commerce must obtain shareholder approval for financial statements by April 30, 2569, and submit them to the Department within one month of the meeting. Registered partnerships, joint ventures, and foreign entities have until June 2, 2569, as the final deadline.

To ensure convenience and accuracy, the department encourages all juristic persons to use the DBD e-Filing system, which operates 24/7. Simply log in at efiling.dbd.go.th and select the "Submit Financial Statements" menu. Successful submission will show a "Notification Received" status.

"The Department of Business Development urges the business sector not to wait until the last minute," Poonpong stated. "If document errors occur or the system becomes congested, it could result in serious consequences: (1) legal penalties affecting both the juristic person and individual authorized directors; (2) damage to business reputation and credit, as non-submission will show a 'Default Status' that erodes confidence from investors, partners, and financial institutions, causing missed investment opportunities; and (3) risk of legal summons, and if filing defaults continue for three years, the company will be deregistered as an abandoned business."

He urged businesses with completed financial statements to submit immediately to allow time for corrections if any defects are found. "Don't let delays destroy the business credibility you've built. Act quickly. The department would prefer not to assess penalties or pursue legal action against the business sector," he said.

User guides are available at efiling.dbd.go.th under "System User Manual." For assistance, the Department has prepared a task force team ready to provide urgent guidance through multiple channels: (1) Line Official by adding friend @sxw0580y; (2) Phone numbers 0 2547 4377, 0 2547 4385, and 0 2547 5978.
