New York Dog Walker Reveals Lucrative Side Hustle: Nearly 200,000 Baht Monthly Income
A New York engineer has built a premium dog-walking side business generating nearly 200,000 baht monthly by positioning himself as a luxury pet care provider in Lower Manhattan, with word-of-mouth and social media driving rapid growth.
A tech professional in New York City has turned his personal passion for animals into a profitable business after launching a dog-walking side hustle that has since evolved into a premium pet care service with an expanding roster of clients.
Coby Goodhart, 28, established Goodhart Dog Co. in 2025, just two years after relocating to New York. Despite maintaining a full-time job as an engineer, he generates over 6,000 dollars monthly from his side business—approximately 196,000 baht.
Goodhart operates his dog-walking and pet care business in the Lower Manhattan area, carefully scheduling work around his day job. He takes clients in the early morning before work, during lunch breaks, in the evenings, and on weekends. Beyond solo operations, he has hired one additional dog walker and personally trains staff to manage clients during his regular working hours. The team collectively walks between 10 and 20 dogs daily.
Goodhart acknowledges his schedule is quite demanding, especially on weekends, as he balances dog walking, training, and close customer relationship management. However, he finds fulfillment in the work despite the fatigue.
Regarding client expansion, Goodhart credits primarily word-of-mouth referrals and social media promotion. He distributes business cards during work and leaves cards with building staff, who have extensive networks with residents. A crucial differentiation strategy involves positioning his business as a luxury service rather than a mass-market operation—he focuses on creating distinctive, high-quality experiences that justify premium pricing.
Goodhart recognizes that most New Yorkers live fast-paced, stressful lives, making pet owners eager to entrust their dogs to reliable professionals. This demand has fueled his business's rapid growth in the competitive Manhattan market.
