Celebrity brothers Phutthachai BUS and Pim Thanat return to competitive ice hockey after years away, with Pim crediting his older brother as inspiration for taking up the sport at the XPENG International Ice Hockey Cup 2026 in Thailand.
Phutthachai BUS is making his ice hockey comeback after three years away, vowing to perform at his best, while his younger brother Pim Thanat is thrilled by the growing interest in ice hockey and credits his older brother as his inspiration. On May 7, the famous artist and former ice hockey player Phutthachai BUS, along with his younger brother Pim Thanat Limpanya from '9214KIDS,' attended a press conference for the international 'XPENG International Ice Hockey Cup 2026 – Asia Elite Series' at Thailand International Ice Hockey Arena, sharing their emotions about returning to the ice.
Both brothers expressed happiness and excitement at their return after being away from ice hockey for an extended period. Pim revealed he's been shaking off the rust for about three months and is eager to face strong competitors, while Phutthachai admitted it's been over three years since he last played and hinted at special performances and surprises coming soon for fans.
When asked about his feelings, Phutthachai said: "I'm happy, really. I haven't been on the ice in a long time. The last time I played was with Copper and Heart, which was ages ago. I'm always happy when I come back, and I love the atmosphere on the ice."
Pim added: "I'm feeling happy and excited. The atmosphere is really nice, and I'm excited to compete against some really talented opponents."
Regarding the tournament, Pim expressed anticipation for the international competitors and matches ahead.
When asked what's special about this return, Pim noted he's still able to play despite not having competed for about three months, and he's committed to shaking off the rust. Phutthachai revealed the significant gap of three years and acknowledged he's forgotten a lot, but promised to give his absolute best.
Phutthachai remembered his last game as a friendly match where he had to leave early for dance practice, marking the end of his ice hockey career. He cherished the memory because it was the last time playing with his teammates.
When hinted about good news, Phutthachai teased: "Well, there will be a comeback performance on the ice (smiling). There will be special performances too, but let everyone follow the details. It's coming soon, so stay tuned."
On his fitness level, Phutthachai explained: "We stay fit all the time. In two days we'll have OLYMPOP, and I've been an athlete my whole life. I believe we maintain our fitness to be ready for athletic competitions efficiently whenever we get the opportunity."
When asked how long it's been since Pim played with his older brother, Pim couldn't recall exactly. Phutthachai explained the long gap, noting their age difference meant they competed in different age groups as children, and at their current age, they compete with peers their own age, so they haven't played together for a very long time.
When asked if Pim had mentioned he plays because of his older brother, Pim confirmed: "Yes, back then he seemed to want to play, so I followed along. Once we started playing together, it felt really fun, so we kept playing together."
Asked how Phutthachai felt hearing this, he responded: "I'm happy that I could be an inspiration for my younger brother and others to pick up a hockey stick and pursue their dreams. I think my younger brother is also inspiring the new generation to play ice hockey. I'm really glad that more people are loving and playing ice hockey now than when we used to play."
