PHUKET — May 8, 2026: A Russian tourist has drawn widespread praise online after stopping to help an elderly street vendor push his cart up a steep hill at the Windmill Viewpoint in Phuket.

The incident took place at the Windmill Viewpoint in Rawai subdistrict, Mueang district, and was shared by a local Facebook page.

Video footage shows the Russian man pulling over after noticing the elderly vendor struggling to push a cart loaded with piggy banks uphill alone. The tourist immediately exited his vehicle and helped push the cart while the vendor walked behind.

The gesture impressed onlookers and quickly attracted widespread online praise after the video circulated.

Social media users commended the tourist's kindness, with many saying that compassion transcends nationality, language, and religion.

"One good tourist like this is worth welcoming by the thousands," one commenter wrote, while another said, "Whether someone is good or bad has nothing to do with nationality or religion. It depends on the person's heart."

Others thanked the tourist on behalf of the elderly vendor and noted that many Russian visitors to Thailand are generous and kind-hearted.

The brief roadside act has since become another feel-good story widely shared online, demonstrating how small acts of kindness can bridge cultural and language differences.

Pro Makeup Artist Secrets: 12-Hour Long-Lasting Makeup with Lipstick and Powder Puff

Professional makeup artists in Thailand share techniques to keep makeup flawless for 12 hours using powder puff and lipstick, with key tips including lightweight skincare prep and a "press and tab" powder application method that prevents pa

8 May Khaosod

Say goodbye to makeup mishaps! Learn professional techniques to keep your makeup flawless for 12 hours with perfect skin and vibrant lips using just lipstick and powder puff—the makeup artist way. Enjoy confidence all day long.

12-Hour Long-Lasting Makeup Technique with Lipstick and Powder Puff: Professional Edition

Thailand's unpredictable hot and humid climate is notorious for ruining makeup. Many people experience foundation breakdown, oily skin, and fading lip color throughout the day, which can shake your confidence during outdoor activities. Today, we're sharing professional secrets to achieve flawless, long-lasting makeup for 12 hours without carrying a heavy makeup bag—using just lipstick and your trusted powder puff as key products.

Prepare Your Skin Before Applying Makeup: Lock in Perfection from the Start

Long-lasting makeup doesn't begin with product application—it starts with skincare. Proper skin preparation is the essential foundation that allows makeup to cling to your face longer, preventing it from sliding off or becoming patchy throughout the day.

Cleanse Your Face Thoroughly

Before applying any skincare or makeup, the first step is thorough cleansing to remove oils and impurities. Using a gentle cleanser helps balance your skin and prepares it to absorb treatments effectively in the next steps.

Moisturize with Lightweight Skincare

Many people believe applying heavy creams enhances beauty, but before makeup, avoid heavy creams or facial oils as they cause shine throughout the day. Instead, choose lightweight serums or gel moisturizers that absorb quickly, hydrating skin without leaving excess oil on your face.

Powder Puff Technique: Achieving a Smooth, Flawless Finish Without Patches

Powder puff is every Thai woman's lifesaver for coverage and oil control. However, achieving 12-hour wear without a cakey appearance requires special techniques that professional makeup artists use.

Select the Right Coverage Level and Shade for Your Skin

Choosing a powder shade that matches your undertone is crucial. Select formulas with oil-control properties and water-resistant, sweat-resistant features to ensure your skin stays radiant all day without frequent touch-ups.

Use the "Press and Tab" Technique Instead of Sweeping

A common mistake is sweeping powder across the face, which causes patchiness and poor adhesion. The correct technique is to lightly tap the puff on the powder, then use a "press and tab" method on your skin, starting from the T-zone where oil is heaviest, gradually moving toward the face contours. This helps the powder blend naturally with your skin and last longer.

Spray Mineral Water on Your Puff Before Applying Powder

A pro trick makeup artists use is misting the puff with mineral water until damp before applying powder. This transforms the compact powder into a texture that adheres closely to skin like a light foundation, improving staying power and creating a natural glow.

Lip Color Secrets: Keep Your Lipstick Flawless Without Fading or Smudging

Beyond perfect skin, vibrant lips complete your overall look. Here's how to lock in lip color so it stays beautiful through eating, drinking, and mask-wearing.

Exfoliate and Condition Your Lips

For beautiful, vibrant lipstick color, your lips must not be dry. Before makeup, gently exfoliate your lips to remove dead skin.

Fruit Board Approves Four Measures to Boost Thai Fruit Consumption and Combat Market Oversupply

Thailand's Department of Cooperative Promotion has approved four measures to manage fruit production for 2025 and boost domestic consumption, allocating 10.575 million baht to support farmer institutions. The initiatives include marketing coordination, packaging support, consumer promotion campaigns featuring 'Fresh From Farm' events, and export standard training for fruit sorting facilities. The measures aim to prevent market oversupply and improve prices for Thai fruits, with special focus on geographic indication products like Trat golden rambutan currently experiencing strong market demand.

8 May Khaosod

The Department of Cooperative Promotion's Fruit Board held its second 2025 meeting and approved four management measures for the fruit production season. According to Nirun Moolthida, Director of the Department of Cooperative Promotion, these measures fall under the 2025 fruit distribution support project to improve prices for farmer institutions, with a combined budget of 10.575 million baht from the farmer assistance fund.

The first measure focuses on marketing management and supply chain coordination, allocating 2.58 million baht to connect distribution networks for farmer institutions, cooperatives, and fruit aggregation groups. Transportation subsidies are capped at 2 baht per kilogram, with 1.5 baht for origin and 0.50 baht for destination points, targeting distribution of 1,290.4 tons of cooperative fruits.

The second measure provides packaging support, including 208,500 fruit baskets for the 1,290.4-ton harvest, with a budget of 5.34 million baht. Forty-eight farmer institutions across 24 provinces will participate, with the government covering up to 70% of packaging costs while institutions contribute at least 30%.

The third measure allocates 2 million baht for promotional campaigns and consumer engagement, including 'Fresh From Farm' fruit festivals across four regions at major Bangkok shopping malls to create sales channels during peak harvest periods.

The fourth measure involves training 20 farmer institutions with fruit sorting facilities and agricultural treatment services—covering longans, mangosteen, golden bananas, coconuts, and mangoes—in export standards, coordinating with four other agricultural ministry departments with a budget of 348,000 baht.

Nirun noted additional supporting measures include networking between farmer institutions, expedited product distribution from production areas, and establishing cooperative distribution centers in each province for easier consumer access to agricultural products. Deputy Director Narit Boonchai mentioned upcoming field visits to Chachoengsao and Trat provinces to monitor fruit output, particularly geographic indication products like Trat golden rambutan currently entering the market at strong prices of 45 baht per kilogram.

Trust Crisis: Sarakadee Poll Shows 68% of Thais Lack Confidence in State Agencies, Urges Urgent Corruption Reform

A recent Sarakadee Institute poll found 68.7% of Thais lack confidence in state agencies, with corruption identified as the top urgent priority for reform, followed by security concerns over Cambodia-related issues and visa policies.

8 May Khaosod

On May 8, 2025, the Sarakadee Institute released findings from a survey on "Public Opinion Regarding Urgent Policies on Public Sector Management, Security, and Confidence in Various Agencies," conducted between April 24-27. The key findings are as follows:

Regarding confidence in the role and performance of various agencies, 68.7% indicated they had no particular confidence in any specific organization. Among those selected, the Administrative Court received the highest rating at 8.2%, followed by the Constitutional Court at 8.1%.

When broken down by region, no single agency commanded exceptional confidence across all areas, except in the Northern Region where the Administrative Court led with 26.7%. Nearly three in four respondents indicated they had no clear confidence in any particular agency. While some areas showed higher trust in the judiciary compared to other named agencies, these proportions remain insufficient to reflect society's overall shared confidence.

Corruption has emerged as the top urgent priority, with over 60% of respondents wanting serious action taken before other reforms. Specifically, 60.7% prioritized tackling corruption, while 20.3% wanted accelerated civil service modernization and digitalization. Another 12% supported early retirement provisions for civil servants, and 7% had no opinion.

On security matters, respondents identified three urgent priorities: Cambodia-related issues, visa policies, and military draft reforms. Of these, 40.9% wanted the government to urgently review Cambodia-related agreements, 23.5% called for reviewing problematic foreign visa policies, 18.5% demanded military conscription reform, and 17.5% had no opinion.

This reflects public concern that national sovereignty and everyday security are being threatened by external factors hidden within open-door policies, such as grey-market networks. Citizens view security broadly—not merely as border or military issues, but as encompassing policies affecting safety, order, and fairness in society.

The poll demonstrates that citizens place high importance on state credibility in both internal management and public policy decisions affecting national interests. In public administration, corruption control is clearly identified as the top urgent priority. On security, citizens emphasize reviewing Cambodia-related matters and measures potentially affecting public safety and social order. Overall, a large portion of the public remains without specific confidence in any agency, suggesting the challenge extends beyond policy implementation to building concrete public trust.

Well-Known Spiritual Teacher Closes Center Indefinitely, Suspends Rituals Following Shocking Allegations in Amulet Consecration Controversy

A prominent spiritual teacher from Lamphun province has indefinitely closed his center and suspended all ritual services following shocking allegations of misconduct during VIP amulet consecration ceremonies. The controversial closure has rattled numerous celebrity clients and disciples, with the teacher's lawyer citing health concerns and claiming the decision stems from threats to undermine the spiritual practice. The teacher has promised to later reveal details about those allegedly attempting to sabotage his system.

8 May Khaosod

Following the revelation of shocking behavioral allegations, a well-known spiritual teacher from Lamphun province conducted a VIP amulet consecration ceremony for victims of Om Mangkhon (Ongchat), during which he allegedly harmed multiple victims and shocked his disciples and followers. Several famous celebrities who have previously received spiritual guidance from this teacher, including Hnom Khongkraphun, Sarayut Suthasanajinda, and Noess Udom, were deeply concerned despite not participating in this particular VIP ceremony. Notably, Noess Udom had previously recounted how a young assistant was subjected to harsh treatment during an amulet consecration. The teacher has now announced an indefinite closure of his center, stating that "due to ill-intentioned individuals attempting to destroy the spiritual system, causing harm, effective immediately, I will no longer receive visitors and will suspend all ritual services indefinitely. I will later disclose the identity of those attempting to sabotage the system with detailed information."

During a recent live broadcast, host Hnom Karchai contacted the teacher's lawyer, who revealed that the spiritual master's health has deteriorated. The lawyer claimed he has not yet seen evidence and that no complaints of misconduct have been filed in the area. He argued the teacher does not provide medical treatment but rather conducts merit-making rituals to resolve karmic issues, and maintained that clients who visit the teacher experience improvement in their conditions.

Prisat Urges Cabinet to Confirm Constitutional Amendment Draft Section 15/1, Blasts 400 Billion Baht Loan Using Citizens as Collateral

People's Party MP Prisat Chiewsin urged the Cabinet to advance a constitutional amendment draft, arguing that a February referendum showed 21.6 million Thais support replacing the 2017 Constitution and criticizing a 400 billion baht emergen

8 May Khaosod

On May 8, 2025, Prisat Chiewsin, a People's Party list MP and deputy party leader, posted on Facebook stating that if the Cabinet allows the original constitution to lapse without committing to a new charter, it demonstrates insincerity in following the people's referendum mandate. He argued that economic hardship and constitutional reform can be tackled in parallel, and criticized a 400 billion baht emergency loan decree that uses relief funds as collateral for questionable projects, saying it fails to genuinely prioritize people's welfare.

Regarding the February 8 referendum, Prisat noted that while 11.2 million people voted against a new constitution, 21.6 million voted in favor, reflecting clear societal consensus that the 2017 Constitution has severe flaws requiring complete replacement rather than mere amendments.

Over the past three months, Prisat highlighted growing evidence of constitutional problems: the Election Commission facing controversy over delayed reporting and ballot counting errors; the State Audit Office showing no accountability a year after a building collapse; Thailand's corruption transparency index hitting a 10-year low, embarrassing the Prime Minister; the National Anti-Corruption Commission clearing former Transport Minister Sakthisiam Chidchob despite evidence of stock manipulation; over 130 senators accused of collusion potentially being whitewashed; and former Senate Speaker Wan Muhamad Nor Matha abusing his power to block opposition MPs' complaints to the NACC regarding leaked clips involving NACC officials.

Since the referendum clearly shows people want a new constitution with binding force, Prisat emphasized the next step is pushing the Section 15/1 constitutional amendment draft through three parliamentary readings. He said the Cabinet has two options: either pass a resolution by May 14 confirming both the Bhumjaithai and People's Party drafts that already passed the first reading, allowing them to proceed, or face questions about its sincerity in respecting the people's mandate.

Large-framed man falls asleep at wheel, keeps foot on accelerator, loses control on curve and crashes into power pole, dies on impact

A man in his late 30s died after falling asleep at the wheel on a curve in Rayong province early May 8, his sedan crashing into a power pole at high speed with no sign of braking.

8 May Khaosod

At 5:00 AM on May 8, 2569, Kaeng Police Station received reports of a sedan that had veered off a curved section of road in Ban Na subdistrict, Kaeng district, Rayong province, and crashed into a high-voltage power pole, resulting in the driver's death. Emergency responders from the Buddhachinaraj Charitable Association and Kaeng Hospital rushed to the scene. At the accident site, they found a heavily damaged gray sedan with its front completely crushed, debris scattered across the roadway. The vehicle was wedged against the high-voltage power pole. Inside, rescuers discovered a large-framed male, approximately 35-40 years old, trapped in the driver's seat. Initial examination revealed the driver had no pulse and was deceased at the scene due to the massive impact force. Using cutting equipment, officials extracted the body for preliminary autopsy inspection. The initial investigation determined that the deceased was traveling from Sukhumvit Road toward Ban Na subdistrict when he reached a curved section of the road. It is believed the driver fell asleep, inadvertently keeping his foot pressed on the accelerator. The vehicle lost control and crashed into the power pole with significant force, with no evidence of braking. Kaeng Police Station investigators have documented photographs from the scene and plan to carefully review closed-circuit camera footage from nearby areas to determine the actual cause of the accident.

Dr. Chai Wattana Unveils Plan to Make Bangkok Easier Through Structural Reform and Expanded Authority

Thai Democrat Party candidate Chai Wattanawichit has unveiled an ambitious platform to simplify Bangkok through structural governance reforms, expanded BMA authority, and major infrastructure projects including canal development for public transportation. His campaign emphasizes solving immediate problems like the Ong Nuch landfill odor affecting 400,000 residents and improving public healthcare access that has declined from 1 million to 800,000 users. The plan proposes shifting Bangkok's legal framework to grant broader autonomy to the city administration while prioritizing quality-of-life improvements for residents.

8 May Khaosod

On May 8, 2025, Chai Wattanawichit, Thai Democrat Party candidate for Bangkok Governor, outlined his development plans during a campaign event focused on making Bangkok easier to navigate. His campaign, titled "Simple Bangkok," aims to challenge residents to question why managing the city feels so complicated, addressing issues like wasted commute time and poor quality of life.

The Democratic Party's platform, backed by all 50 party members in the Bangkok Metropolitan Assembly and the party leadership, proposes structural reforms through proposed amendments to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration law. The key change involves shifting from a "positive list" (specifying what the BMA can do) to a "negative list" (allowing everything except what is prohibited), giving Bangkok greater autonomy in managing its own affairs.

Chai highlighted healthcare accessibility as a critical issue, noting that the number of residents able to access the 30-baht universal healthcare scheme has declined from 1 million to 800,000. He proposed expanding BMA-operated public health centers and coordinating with nine BMA hospitals to reduce referral delays.

Public transportation is another major focus. Chai pointed out that many new roads lack bus service while existing routes continue to shrink despite receiving permits from the Department of Land Transport. He emphasized that the BMA has the authority to expand services but has failed to act adequately.

For his mega-project vision, Chai proposed developing Bangkok's numerous canals into multipurpose corridors serving as public transportation routes, tourist attractions, and community spaces. This canal development strategy aims to generate economic benefits across the entire city.

Chain identified the Ong Nuch landfill odor problem as his top priority if elected. Affecting over 400,000 residents, this issue falls within the BMA's authority and can be addressed immediately. He also plans to tackle the gold card (royal health insurance) problem by leveraging BMA health centers to reduce referral paperwork and improve accessibility.
