Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has pledged that Thais will have access to broadcast the 2026 FIFA World Cup, asserting that his government cannot be an exception when all previous administrations have provided the same. 5 May Khaosod

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has declared that Thai people must be able to watch the World Cup, noting that every previous government has ensured this access—so why should his administration be any different? No broadcaster has yet acquired rights to air the 2026 FIFA World Cup final tournament, which will take place across the United States, Mexico, and Canada from June 11 to July 19, 2026, due to the high licensing fees estimated at approximately 1.3 billion baht. Following a cabinet meeting on May 5, when reporters asked PM Anutin about the World Cup broadcast situation, he responded: "We need to make sure Thai people can watch the World Cup. Every government has done this—will my government be an exception? We'll figure out how."

Minimal makeup that creates a glass skin effect for everyday wear There's no denying that the glass skin and minimal makeup trend continues to dominate! Whether you're a student, working professional, or just having a casual day, everyone wants that dewy, luminous complexion that looks naturally healthy rather than heavily made-up. Instead of applying thick foundation that weighs you down, we're sharing simple tricks to achieve that glass skin look without needing tons of products. With just these key items, you'll nail every look in your daily routine!

5 Essential Items to Master the Glass Skin Look Want that radiant, dewy skin without heavy makeup? We've picked 5 basic must-have beauty items that will help you create a flawless minimal makeup look with an effortlessly glowing appearance. Let's see which ones deserve a spot in your makeup bag!

1. Foundation: The Key to Glass Skin The glass skin look lives or dies by your foundation choice. Look for one that blends smoothly with a lightweight, breathable texture that maintains moisture. Seven-layer foundation has become the go-to for many girls because it's easy to find, feels incredibly light, and gives a naturally glowing finish. It comes in sachets or tiny bottles with shades perfectly suited for Thai skin tones, and it holds up beautifully in our hot, humid climate. One popular choice is Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation, which has a lightweight feel, controls shine all day, and comes in many shades that work great for Thai skin. If you haven't found your holy grail foundation yet, this is worth a try.

2. Concealer: Seamless Coverage for Every Flaw If you have under-eye circles or pesky blemishes, concealer is your lifesaver. Just tap it on lightly and blend—it instantly hides imperfections for a smoother appearance. The trick for minimal makeup is choosing a hydrating concealer that doesn't settle into lines or leave patches. Paired with your foundation, it blends seamlessly into your skin like you're not wearing anything at all. If you're looking for an affordable option, try Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Concealer. It's famous for concealing under-eye circles seamlessly with a lightweight, non-heavy formula that instantly brightens tired eyes. Perfect for those who want a fresh look without layering on powder.

3. Mascara: Lifted Lashes, Bigger Eyes, More Charm Even with light makeup, your eyes need to pop! Just one good mascara instantly makes your eyes look rounder and more dimensional without needing dark eyeshadow. Choose a waterproof, sweat-resistant formula that separates lashes beautifully and won't smudge throughout the day, whether you're out in the sun or sitting in an air-conditioned office. For those searching for their mascara soulmate, Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara is the perfect choice! This waterproof formula gives length and lift, applies lightly, and works on both upper and lower lashes to create an open, charming eye that looks just like Korean beauty ideals. Your eyes are guaranteed to be stunning.

4. Long-Wear Lipstick: Pretty, Plump Lips with Lasting Color A clean look falls apart if your lipstick smudges throughout the day. Long-wear lipstick is essential, whether you prefer a dewy gloss finish or smooth matte. For that glowing skin trend, try nude pink, peachy orange, or dusty rose shades—they brighten your complexion and look naturally soft and fresh. We recommend Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink

FDA Orders Urgent Testing: Canned Mackerel Suspected to Contain Tilapia Instead—12,760 Cans Seized

Thai authorities seized 12,760 cans of mislabeled fish products after discovering a Samut Sakhon factory was selling tilapia as mackerel, violating food safety regulations and constituting consumer fraud.

5 May Khaosod

On May 5, 2569, Supattra Bunserm, Secretary of the Food and Drug Administration's board, revealed details of a Facebook video posted by user "Tao Somchai Nai" who questioned the unusual appearance of canned fish he purchased, noting it did not match the mackerel label. Although the poster later deleted the video after receiving compensation and a product recall from the company, the FDA determined a thorough investigation was necessary to protect consumers and maintain food safety standards.

The FDA coordinated with the Samut Sakhon Provincial Health Office to inspect the manufacturing facility located in Khahlang Subdistrict, Muang District, Samut Sakhon Province. The inspection revealed the facility failed to meet Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards and confirmed the finished products used a different fish species than labeled. Officials ordered a complete product recall and seized 12,760 cans from the factory and 250 cans from retail locations. The Department of Fisheries was also contacted to verify the fish species used.

The FDA emphasized that substituting raw materials with a different fish species while labeling products as mackerel constitutes consumer fraud. Although tilapia is safe for consumption, the mislabeling violates food safety regulations. Violations carry penalties of six months to ten years imprisonment and fines of 5,000 to 100,000 baht for producing counterfeit food, plus fines up to 30,000 baht for incorrect labeling that misleads consumers.

The agency warned all manufacturers to conduct business ethically, cautioning that such practices damage consumer trust and harm the Thai food industry's reputation. The FDA will pursue maximum legal penalties for confirmed violations.

Mackerel canned products are characterized by very fine scales appearing as smooth skin, with soft, easily-crumbling flesh in tomato sauce. Consumers with concerns about food products or complaints can contact the FDA hotline at 1556, Line @FDAThai, Facebook FDAThai, email 1556@fda.moph.go.th, P.O. Box 1556 at the Ministry of Public Health in Nonthaburi 11004, or provincial health offices nationwide.

5 May Khaosod

On Monday, April 13, 2025, Phra Phrom Wachramet (Somkiart Kowitho), a Maha Thera Council committee member and abbot of Wat Arun Rajwararama, presided over the enshrinement of a replica statue of Luang Pho Chaeng on the lawn before the Phra Ubosot at Wat Arun Rajwararama in Bangkok Noi district.

Incense offerings were made to Luang Pho Chaeng, followed by traditional water blessing ceremonies. A Dharma master then performed veneration rituals accompanied by Lao music and ensembles in the Lao Lan Chang style, reflecting the beautiful cultural and historical relationship between the two nations.

The replica statue was then carried on an ornate palanquin decorated in exquisite Lao Lan Chang style and processed to its placement location before the Phra Ubosot, allowing monks and Buddhist devotees to participate in the water blessing ceremony and seek blessings for auspiciousness during the Thai New Year celebration.

This ceremony represents the continuation of Thailand's beautiful traditions during Songkran, marking the ancient Thai New Year. The festival symbolizes the purification of body, speech, and mind, while expressing gratitude to Thailand's revered past kings and benefactors.

Wat Arun opened the event to the general public and tourists to bless the Phra Ubosot, an important relic enshrined in the capital, seeking blessings for life. The event also promotes cultural tourism and learning about Buddhist heritage.

On Wednesday, April 15, 2025, Phra Phrom Wachramet, along with several high-ranking monks, presided over the ceremony to return the replica Luang Pho Chaeng to its place within the vihara at Wat Arun. Many Buddhist devotees participated in the ceremony.

The atmosphere was filled with auspiciousness as the Songkran festival drew to a close and Thailand's new fiscal year began. The presiding monks made incense offerings to the statue and presented beautiful traditional "Lao Lan Chang" style ceremonial objects. Musical ensembles performed while dancers made elegant offerings in the Buddhist tradition.

Water blessing rituals were then performed on the replica statue, and sacred cloths were presented. The statue was then carried in a grand procession back to the vihara on an ornate palanquin, accompanied by the resounding music of traditional ensembles throughout the route, symbolizing peace and happiness. Upon arrival at the vihara, monks chanted auspicious blessings.

This enshrinement ceremony marked the grand closing of the Songkran celebration at Wat Arun, continuing Thailand's beautiful traditions and Buddhist practices for future generations. The event also blessed the nation and all Buddhist devotees, allowing everyone to begin the Thai New Year with joy, prosperity, and deep faith in the Triple Gem.

Deli Expands into Laos, Partners with Local Player MEK to Drive Stationery Market Growth

Chinese stationery maker Deli expands into Laos through a partnership with local distributor MEK, aiming to build nationwide infrastructure and reach retail, government, and education sectors. The company plans a major brand launch in Vient

5 May Khaosod

Deli is taking another major step into Southeast Asia by expanding its business into Laos—but this time, not alone. The stationery company is partnering with local distributor MEK to launch what it calls a "local expertise + fast execution + sustainable growth" strategy. This isn't simply about shipping products; it's about establishing a long-term foothold in a growing market through nationwide infrastructure development.

For its Lao market entry, Deli is playing for the long game from day one, establishing a complete business structure encompassing distribution, marketing, and brand building in collaboration with MEK, which has deep knowledge of the Lao market.

Deli has set clear targets, aiming to reach all customer segments including general retail stores, supermarkets and modern trade outlets, government and private organizations, and schools—which represent the heart of demand in this market.

MEK is taking an aggressive ground-level approach, actively distributing products, engaging customers, and opening new deals continuously. Simultaneously, Deli provides comprehensive support in marketing strategy, product knowledge, and sales promotion tools to ensure their partner "sells real results and achieves real growth," not just shelf presence.

A major brand launch event is planned in Vientiane, positioning this as more than a simple product reveal but a significant moment for building widespread awareness and signaling Deli's serious commitment to the Lao market.

What makes this expansion noteworthy isn't just the new market, but Deli's approach of treating partners as a unified team under a "Partnership for Growth" concept. Rather than simply selling products, Deli is transferring solutions, knowledge, and comprehensive support to enable all stakeholders—from retailers to end users—to grow together.

Deli's entry into Laos represents an important strategic move to expand its footprint in the region. If successful, Laos may be just the first chapter of a larger Southeast Asian expansion story.

Sacred Amulet News – Coins of Luang Pho Jan, Wat Bang Mohn, Ayutthaya Province

Luang Pho Jan Janthasaro, a revered Buddhist scholar and abbot of Wat Bang Mohn in Ayutthaya, lived 90 years devoted to monastic discipline and community education before his death in B.E. 2470. Commemorative coins bearing his image were ca

5 May Khaosod

Luang Pho Jan Janthasaro of Wat Bang Mohn was a renowned Buddhist scholar of ancient Ayutthaya who earned widespread reverence as a venerable teacher of his era. Born on a Monday in the 8th lunar month of B.E. 2380 in Bang Mohn Sub-district, Maha Raj District, Ayutthaya Province, to parents Nai Thob and Nang Sap, he received his early education at the temple, becoming literate in both Thai and Khmer scripts. At age 23 in B.E. 2403, he took monastic vows at Wat Bang Mohn under distinguished preceptors.

Luang Pho Jan embodied the ways of ancient monasticism, maintaining strict adherence to Buddhist precepts and teachings. Free from greed, he devoted himself to helping those in distress, which attracted many animals to seek refuge at the temple. As his knowledge deepened, he was appointed chief administrator in B.E. 2435, earned the title of preceptor in B.E. 2439, and later became deputy abbot. He ordained countless young men from the region—so many that nearly all villagers of Maha Raj became his disciples across generations of families.

A passionate scholar and collector of knowledge, he preserved valuable ancient texts for future generations to study. Recognized as a visionary, he maintained these treasures as exemplars of learning. Though he passed away over 90 years ago, his legacy endured. Through his compassion, strict moral conduct, and unwavering commitment to Buddhist teachings, he earned universal respect from both monastics and laypeople. He diligently trained monks and novices in strict discipline and taught nearby communities to pursue virtue without hesitation.

With steadfast dedication to supporting Buddhism and caring for the temple, Luang Pho Jan transformed Wat Bang Mohn into a flourishing institution in the Bang Na area, complete with quarters, teaching halls, and schools. The temple itself dates to the Ayutthaya period and has been continuously restored. The name "Wat Bang Mohn" derives from the presence of Rakhine people who migrated from ancient Ayutthaya to settle and make their living in this area. The temple is now officially called "Wat Bang Songop."

Luang Pho Jan devoted his entire life to religious service and good works until his peaceful passing on the third waning day of the third lunar month of the year Tao, at 4 p.m., corresponding to February 12, B.E. 2470. He lived 90 years, completing 67 Buddhist vassa (rains retreats). His funeral ceremony drew large crowds of devoted disciples and supporters.

Many sacred objects and amulets were created in his memory, with cast coins bearing his likeness becoming particularly famous. These coins were first cast in B.E. 2465 during a seven-fold merit-making ceremony celebrating his 84th birthday, organized by his disciples and supporters. At that time, Maha Thap Chalaiwares, one of his distinguished disciples, requested permission to create a life-sized bronze statue for veneration at Wat Bang Mohn. Permission was granted to also produce commemorative cast coins made of brass-blended metal. Approximately 1,500 coins were minted and distributed to reverential disciples and devotees as items of veneration, each valued at one baht.

James Jirayou Once Drank Heavily Every Night, His Health Suffered—He Made a Comeback Thanks to His Wife

Thai television personality James Jirayou shares how he overcame years of heavy partying and poor health with his wife's strict discipline and consistent training, achieving an impressive six-pack physique. In an interview, he discusses his recent Hyrox competition experience, admitting he underestimated the event and discovered that functional fitness requires different training than traditional gym work. James emphasizes that sustainable fitness results come from starting with simple, achievable steps and building momentum gradually rather than pursuing extreme transformations.

5 May Khaosod

James Jirayou reveals his darkest days when he partied every night, barely sleeping for a year until his health crashed and his allergies flared up. His wife's strict discipline helped him recover through daily running and regular gym sessions, though he now battles high cholesterol that may require lifelong medication. He emphasizes that achieving results requires starting with simple, actionable steps, building momentum, and trusting that determination will take you further than expected.

When asked about his Hyrox experience, James admitted he wasn't satisfied because he underestimated the event during simulation and didn't train seriously enough. He relied on his running background, believing it would give him an advantage, but discovered that functional movements like lifting and carrying required different strength than gym training. He was surprised by his own anxiety at the actual event, noting the intense atmosphere and pressure as people took off their shirts and stretched before the race. He found himself in an unexpectedly competitive wave and realized he wasn't the slowest, describing the experience as exhilarating despite the exhaustion—feeling like his life had become either too comfortable or his fitness training was too easy.

Regarding his physique goals, James said he wants to maintain his current look rather than push further, as genetics and body structure make it increasingly difficult. He believes adding more muscle mass would require excessive training and eating that he's not willing to commit to. His current philosophy is to start with simple, manageable steps rather than immediately pursuing complicated routines. As difficulty increases, the complexity compounds, requiring more careful calculations of food intake and training balance. His first goal is to learn how to maintain his current physique rather than continuously chase bigger gains.
