Alec Theeradej Maintains His Golden Physique, Admits He Used to Be So Overweight His Thighs Would Chafe – Excited Preparations for Cannes Festival

Thai actor Alec Theeradej credits his impressive transformation to recent film and TV projects, maintaining his physique through balanced eating and calorie counting as he prepares for his debut at Cannes Film Festival.

8 May Khaosod

Actor Alec Theeradej is riding high with a packed schedule and an enviable physique, preparing for his first-ever trip to the Cannes Film Festival. The young star has captured attention for his impressive transformation, having committed to serious weight loss for his recent series.

At a press conference for "Crash Course in Romance" at True Alpha Hub, Alec opened up about his fitness regimen, weight loss journey, his sweet moments with co-star Bow Meldaa, and his excitement about attending Cannes for the first time.

When asked if his physique came solely from this project, Alec explained: "It actually came from this series, and then I lost even more weight for the film 'The Confessions of a Haunted House.' I'd say the past year had projects that required significant weight loss."

Regarding the dramatic results from both projects, Alec admitted: "It was tiring, but now that I've finished both projects, I'm gradually gaining some weight back and regaining a bit of softness."

Will the golden physique disappear? "It'll stay," he assured fans. "I want to maintain it."

Alec revealed that before his weight loss, he had struggled with chafing thighs when walking on the beach. "When I was overweight, my thighs would actually chafe," he said with a laugh. "Now I can walk anywhere without that problem."

On the difficulty of maintaining his current physique, Alec explained the difference between losing weight and maintaining it: "Losing weight is different from maintaining it. When I was losing weight, I had a clear goal and stayed focused. But during maintenance, it's easy to think one slip-up is okay, and if you slip up often, you gain weight again."

Despite traveling frequently abroad, Alec tries to stay disciplined. However, he emphasized the importance of balance: "I eat the same way I always did, but I balance my lifestyle. During my intense weight-loss phase, I was too strict – eating almost no fat – which isn't good for health and isn't sustainable long-term."

Alec noted that the extreme diet affected his energy levels. "I didn't feel depressed, but I lacked energy. I didn't want to do anything. After exercise, I just wanted to sit. I didn't want to talk to anyone because I didn't want to expend energy."

For someone who loves eating, Alec's strategy is practical: "I schedule which days I can eat freely and which days I can slip up. Days when I'm filming food content count as cheat days."

On the challenges of maintaining a celebrity physique, Alec was honest: "Being a celebrity isn't easy, especially when you're someone who gains weight easily. Many people ask me if I use weight-loss supplements, but I don't. I count calories, and it just happens to work well for me."

Commerce Ministry Taps Local Fruits for 'Thai Helping Thai' Program to Boost Farm Income

Thailand's Commerce Ministry has launched an expanded 'Thai Helping Thai' program featuring local fruits and affordable consumer goods to reduce living costs and support farmer incomes. The second week of the initiative showed strong public interest at markets in Chiang Rai, offering mangoes, durian, and other seasonal fruits alongside essential products and community goods at below-market prices. The program operates at over 800 district offices nationwide every Friday in May, with fruits sourced from farmers and channeled to food processing companies for stable sales.

8 May Khaosod

Deputy Permanent Secretary of Commerce Chakra Yodmani announced that he has visited project sites to monitor the 'Thai Helping Thai: Reduce Burden, Reduce Cost of Living' initiative alongside Norasak Suksomboon, Deputy Governor of Chiang Rai Province, and Suphimit Tengphe, Commerce Officer of Chiang Rai Province. The monitoring visit took place on May 8, 2026, at Wiang Chai District Office and Chiang Rai Post Office on Utrokij Road, marking the second week of the program.

The markets showed robust activity with diverse consumer products including rice, cooking oil, canned fish, instant noodles, and detergents—available in major brands, secondary brands, and private labels, all priced below standard market rates. This initiative helps reduce household expenses while making essential purchases more convenient.

Given the current season's abundance of mangoes, mangosteens, durian, and other fruits across several provinces, Commerce Minister Supratip Suthapun established a policy to include both locally-grown and sourced fruits from other regions in the program. This creates additional sales channels for farmers while promoting Thailand's 'Land of Tropical Fruits' brand.

The program also features community products at district offices and post offices to generate income and strengthen local economies. In Chiang Rai, farmers are offering mangoes and bananas at Wiang Chai District Office, while the post office accepts pre-orders for renowned provincial products like Phu Lae pineapples, lychees, and Japanese sweet potatoes. Community products include honey, pork sausages, sticky rice, crocheted items, woven baskets, and patterned fabrics.

The public is invited to purchase 'Thai Helping Thai' products—affordable essentials, fruits, and quality community goods—at over 800 district offices nationwide. The program continues every Friday throughout May 2026 on May 15, 22, and 29, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, and at post offices in all provinces.

Beyond monitoring the 'Thai Helping Thai' program, officials also met with Pattavia pineapple farmers at Fon Thip Garden and a collection point in Pa Sang Subdistrict, Mae Chai District, Chiang Rai Province, alongside representatives from Mae Chai District Office, the provincial industry office, and the farmers' council. Production began in April 2026 and will peak in late May. The farmers' output is being channeled to processing factories, with MaxFood Group as the buyer committed to continuous purchases of Pattavia pineapples, ensuring stable sales and better prices for farmers.

Tone Bangkae Challenges Critics: Claims He Would Never Report a Senior Police Officer Without Credible Threats, Denies Wronging Madam Kaeng

Amulet dealer Tone Bangkae denies defrauding Deputy National Police Chief Jaroon Kiattipan, claiming his debt repayments were legitimate and his assets predate their relationship. He questioned why he would report a senior police officer wi

8 May Khaosod

Tone Bangkae, the renowned amulet dealer, appeared at Phaholyothin Police Station at 1 PM on May 8 alongside his lawyer to identify individuals involved in his case against Deputy National Police Chief Jaroon Kiattipan (Madam Kaeng) and four associates. He provided photographs and evidence related to the case to investigators. After an hour of questioning, Tone told reporters that his debt repayment arrangements were legitimate with regular interest payments throughout, and that many of his assets came from business operations spanning over 10 years—possessions he owned before ever meeting Madam Kaeng.

Regarding the 152 amulets used to collateralize a 180 million baht loan (assessed at 400-500 million baht), Tone stated that an associate known as "Tao" conducted the valuation. He acknowledged that the amulets exceeded the loan amount, but in a second appraisal, they were valued at only 35-40 million baht—a discrepancy he claimed not to understand. When questioned why he didn't simply sell the amulets to pay his debts, Tone explained that his assets weren't limited to cash, noting he had already paid off numerous installments of his obligations.

Tone also pointed to another amulet dealer named "Un Gokee" as evidence of disparities in lending terms, noting that Un paid 200 million baht in interest to Madam Kaeng while he, having borrowed 800 million baht, questioned what interest rate he was charged. He denied involvement in any organized scheme and emphasized his focus on his relationship with Madam Kaeng alone. Regarding the public stigma of being labeled a debt defaulter, Tone challenged critics by asking whether any amulet dealer would dare report a high-ranking police officer without genuine threats. He concluded by asserting that all his assets have been offset by interest payments and denied wronging Madam Kaeng in any way.

MG Reports Strong Growth with 76% Increase in Registrations Over First Four Months, Surpassing 10,000 Units

MG announced a 76% surge in vehicle registrations for the first four months of 2024, with cumulative sales reaching 10,953 units compared to the same period last year. The company credits its success to product quality, driving performance, and a lifetime battery warranty program that has particularly boosted electric vehicle sales to 9,649 units. Popular models include the New MG4 Electric and New MG5 EV Plus, with the company planning to increase production to meet rising consumer demand.

8 May Khaosod

MG reported registration figures for the first four months of this year showing 76% growth compared to the same period last year, reflecting strong consumer confidence in the brand. According to Su Wei Yin, Managing Director of MG Sales (Thailand) Limited, cumulative registrations reached 10,953 units during the four-month period, an increase of 76% year-over-year.

The company attributes this success to positive reception of its product quality, enhanced driving performance tailored to Thai drivers' needs, and comprehensive after-sales service through 123 service centers nationwide. A key factor driving electric vehicle sales is MG's EV Lifetime Warranty, which covers the high-voltage battery, motor drive system, and motor control unit throughout the vehicle's lifespan without mileage or ownership restrictions, resulting in 9,649 electric vehicle registrations.

Popular models include the New MG4 Electric with 4,537 cumulative registrations and the New MG5 EV Plus with 3,407 registrations, both featuring rear-wheel-drive performance using the Nebula Pure Electric Platform. Premium electric vehicles generated over 850 registrations, led by the MG iM6 with 519 units, while e-MPVs including the New MG Maxus 7 and New MG Maxus 9 achieved 307 registrations.

"MG is continuously developing in multiple areas, particularly in product quality and after-sales service to strengthen consumer confidence in our brand," Su Wei stated. "We have prepared plans to increase production to meet growing customer demand and deliver vehicles as quickly as possible. Our goal is to offer quality products at accessible prices while providing reliable after-sales service, parts availability, and comprehensive service standards throughout the country."

Police Dismantle Major Online Vaping Network Warehouse in Prawet District, Arrest Gang and Seize Over 200,000 Units

Thai police dismantled a major online vaping distribution network in Bangkok's Prawet District, seizing over 200,000 e-cigarette units and related equipment worth millions of baht. Nine suspects, including two Thai nationals and seven Lao nationals, were arrested as part of the operation that followed an earlier investigation into an underground warehouse operation. Authorities also discovered dangerous new vaping products, including devices capable of delivering up to 20,000 puffs and cartridges potentially laced with etomidate, a substance that creates hazardous "zombie cigarettes."

8 May Khaosod

At 10:30 AM on May 8, 2025, Deputy Police General Nirandr Leumshri, director of the E-Cigarette and Tobacco Product Crime Prevention and Suppression Center under the Royal Thai Police, coordinated with officers from the Metropolitan Police Bureau's Technology Crime Division, Udom Suk Police Station, and Customs Department officials to inspect an e-cigarette storage warehouse on Sukhaphiphat 2 Soi 3 in Prawet District, Bangkok. Following the raid on this major underground e-cigarette distribution network, authorities discovered over 200,000 e-cigarette units and related equipment, three vehicles, and arrested nine suspects—two Thai nationals named Charan and Charun, and seven Lao nationals. Two of the Lao suspects were found to be connected to money mule accounts used to receive payment transfers from e-cigarette sales.

One suspect claimed to have previously worked as a security guard before a friend recruited him to work at the warehouse for 500 baht per day. He alleged he was unaware the warehouse stored e-cigarettes or that the products were illegal until authorities conducted the raid. His duties involved monitoring the warehouse, checking surveillance camera feeds, receiving notifications of delivery trucks, and controlling access. Other warehouse workers earned the same 500 baht daily wage packaging and shipping products to customers.

This arrest followed an investigation expansion from an earlier condominium raid in the Sukhumvit area, where authorities found a Thai male operating an online e-cigarette shop network. His mobile phone contained chat records of e-cigarette sales to customers through LINE ID "Heaven." The condo unit yielded approximately 500 e-cigarettes, ten packaging boxes each containing roughly 100 units prepared for shipment. Investigators discovered the network packed goods overnight and shipped during early morning hours to evade police inspections, keeping the warehouse closed during daytime to avoid detection.

Authorities also discovered new-model e-cigarettes capable of delivering up to 20,000 puffs, priced at hundreds of baht each—exceeding standard models with approximately 10,000 puffs. Investigators found numerous vape cartridges at risk of being mixed with etomidate, creating dangerous "zombie pods" or "zombie cigarettes" posing serious health threats to users' nervous and respiratory systems.

The deputy police commissioner stated that investigations are ongoing to track the network's owner, believed to be Thai, who may face money laundering charges. Authorities are coordinating with relevant agencies to enhance enforcement measures against illegal e-cigarette smuggling across borders.

Dr. Chaiyanun Sithipusit, acting chief medical officer and director of the Tobacco Product Control Committee, noted that this seizure represents a major shipment. Had these products reached the market, they would significantly harm public health. Officials also found evidence of continuous product development designed to increase health dangers.

Nakhon Si Thammarat theft suspect consumes 25 meth pills before arrestLegacyPolice in Nakhon Si Thammarat arrested a theft suspect today, May 8, after he allegedly stole 40,000 baht, used part of the money to buy methamphetamine, and consumed 25 pills in less than 24 hours. Kasetsart University Launches 'EEC Water Alliance: Know-Adapt-Survive' with Five Water Sector Partners

Kasetsart University launched a research project with five water management partners to create a sustainable water management system for Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor, addressing regional water crises through data-driven strategies a

8 May Khaosod

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wisit Limsombunchai, Vice President for Asset Management at Kasetsart University, presided over the press conference launching the operational research project 'EEC Water Alliance: Know-Adapt-Survive,' designed to create a learning mechanism and sustainable water management system for the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) on May 8, 2026, at Room 904, 9th Floor of the Science Services Building, Office of Lifelong Learning Development at Kasetsart University. The event was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Veeraket Suwanphaka, Director of the Office of Lifelong Learning Development at Kasetsart University, and leading network partners in water management.

The operational research project 'EEC Water Alliance: Know-Adapt-Survive' was initiated by Kasetsart University's Office of Lifelong Learning Development, uniting five leading water management network partners: the Office of National Water Resources (ONWR), Royal Irrigation Department, Department of Water Resources, Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA), and East Water Resource Management and Development Company Limited (East Water). The project aims to analyze water situations, create mechanisms for participation among industrial, agricultural, and household sectors, bridge information gaps, and develop practical policy recommendations to address the eastern region's water crisis.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wisit Limsombunchai stated that Kasetsart University supports efficient water use and conducts water research. The university is pleased to announce a joint commitment with five leading water management partners to oversee water management in the Eastern Economic Corridor, ensuring water is used efficiently to support the EEC's substantial water demands. Informed decision-making combined with inter-agency cooperation will prepare the region to handle potential water crises.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Veeraket Suwanphaka explained that the project stems from lessons learned during the 2005 Eastern Region water crisis, which saw protests and obstruction of water diversion to industrial areas. The 'EEC Water Alliance: Know-Adapt-Survive' is a participatory action research (PAR) project that treats stakeholders as 'co-researchers' rather than 'data subjects,' using the PAOR (Plan-Act-Observe-Reflect) process across four strategic zones: Map Ta Phut, Pluak Daeng-Bo Win, Laem Chabang, and Chachoengsao. The project employs data-driven principles to consolidate water data from all agencies into a unified dataset through three strategies:

'Know' – Unified, accurate data integrating information from five main agencies into one source, transforming raw data into accessible, understandable knowledge for the public.

'Adapt' – Managing crises through intelligent networks by developing the EEC Water Network and a flexible Water Grid system to handle emergency situations such as El Niño phenomena.

'Survive' – Sustainably and securely by elevating practices into national-level policy recommendations, aiming to support industry and communities.
