Nida Poll Results: Does the Public Approve of PM Anutin's Cost of Living Relief Measures?
A Nida Poll survey shows most Thais approve of PM Anutin's cost-of-living relief measures, with 62-71% supporting programs ranging from agricultural loans to fuel subsidies for various vehicles announced in April 2025.
On April 26, 2025, the Nida Poll Opinion Research Center under the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) released survey results titled "Are the Cost of Living Relief Measures Sufficient?" The survey was conducted between April 20-21, 2025, among 1,310 respondents aged 18 and older from across all regions, education levels, professions, and income brackets nationwide, regarding public opinion on the government's cost of living relief measures.
When asked about their views on cost of living relief measures for the public, agriculture sector, and transportation sector under PM Anutin Charnvirakul's government, the following results emerged:
1. Agricultural 50-50 Interest Rate Loan Program (up to 100,000 baht with 3% paid by citizens and 3% by the state): 71.30% said it was appropriate, 14.43% said it was too little, 8.09% said it was too much, and 6.18% did not answer or did not know.
2. Fuel subsidies for minibuses, vans, and songthaews in Bangkok and adjacent provinces (5,040 baht per vehicle, April 20 - May 31, 2025): 68.78% deemed it appropriate, 14.27% said too little, 10.92% said too much, and 6.03% did not answer or did not know.
3. Fuel subsidies for non-scheduled minibuses and vans (3,600 baht per vehicle, April 20 - May 31, 2025): 66.87% found it appropriate, 16.49% said too little, 8.78% said too much, and 7.86% did not answer or did not know.
4. Fuel subsidies for non-scheduled buses (5,000 baht per vehicle, April 20 - May 31, 2025): 65.50% deemed it appropriate, 14.12% said too much, 12.44% said too little, and 7.94% did not answer or did not know.
5. Fuel subsidies for trucks under 10 tons including pickup trucks (3,000 baht per vehicle, April 20 - May 31, 2025): 65.26% found it appropriate, 22.37% said too little, 7.18% said too much, and 5.19% did not answer or did not know.
6. Fuel subsidies for fuel-powered taxis (5,040 baht per vehicle, April 20 - May 31, 2025): 64.12% deemed it appropriate, 15.73% said too much, 13.20% said too little, and 6.95% did not answer or did not know.
7. Fuel subsidies for intercity minibuses and vans (2 baht per kilometer, maximum 700 baht per day, April 20 - May 31, 2025): 63.89% found it appropriate, 22.98% said too little, 6.87% did not answer or did not know, and 6.26% said too much.
8. Fuel subsidies for trucks 10 tons and above (6,000 baht per vehicle, April 20 - May 31, 2025): 62.51% deemed it appropriate, 18.17% said too little, 11.76% said too much, and 7.56% did not answer or did not know.
