Audacious Thieves Strike Utayan Temple, Stealing Donations Right Before Buddha Statue

Thieves broke into Utayan Temple in Nonthaburi Province in early May, stealing tens of thousands of baht from a safe and donation bowls before a Buddha statue while security cameras rolled.

2 May Khaosod

Audacious thieves have targeted Utayan Temple, stealing donations in front of a Buddha statue. Police are actively pursuing the perpetrators. On May 2, 2569, authorities reported that criminals broke into Utayan Temple in Nonthaburi Province. Security cameras captured clear footage of the criminals as they pried open a safe containing temple donations before fleeing with several tens of thousands of baht. After successfully breaching the safe, the criminals systematically collected all donations from the monks' alms bowls throughout the temple, causing significant distress to the monastic community and local Buddhists. In a separate incident on the night of April 29, 2569 at approximately 23:34, the criminals returned and struck again—this time a group of two—targeting the Sangha Donation Hall. Authorities believe this may be a different group from the first incident. Police have investigated the scene and collected CCTV evidence to track down the perpetrators. They suspect the criminals are very familiar with the temple grounds, as they knew the exact location of the donation storage. The investigation is ongoing and authorities are pursuing legal action against those responsible.

Big Jazz Explains After Strong Criticism Over Street Light Reduction, Claims Multiple Coordination Attempts

Pathum Thani PAO Chief Kamranwit Thoopkrajang has clarified his criticism of street light reductions, explaining that some areas fall outside PAO jurisdiction and that he has repeatedly coordinated with multiple agencies for solutions. He is inviting residents to report dark spots via the PAO's LINE account to help expedite improvements to public safety lighting throughout the province.

2 May Khaosod

Police Lieutenant Colonel Kamranwit Thoopkrajang, Pathum Thani PAO chief, has coordinated with the Department of Highways and the State Railway of Thailand to address dark spots lacking sufficient lighting. He is inviting residents to submit photos and tips through the PAO's LINE account for faster resolution.

Kamranwit explained that as PAO chief, he remains committed to public safety and has prioritized street lighting improvements since taking office. His action plan includes:

1. Installing and upgrading street lights with proper maintenance on all PAO-controlled roads 2. Instructing engineering staff to verify power supply to lights and prevent cable theft 3. Planning budget approval to replace degraded bulbs and fixtures 4. Coordinating with other agencies including the Department of Highways, Department of Rural Roads, and State Railway of Thailand to provide electrical power to installed infrastructure for nighttime illumination

Kamranwit noted that a Memorandum of Understanding with the State Railway has enabled the PAO to install solar-powered street lights along railway-adjacent roads from Don Mueang to Rangsit.

He emphasized that street improvements have demonstrably reduced accidents, vehicle damage, and injuries. Kamranwit acknowledged that his direct language may seem harsh, but stemmed from frustration over agencies reducing electrical supply to existing lighting, further darkening already poorly-lit roads and affecting residents.

He clarified the PAO's limited jurisdiction over highways managed by the Department of Highways, Department of Rural Roads, and State Railway, and appealed for cooperation. The PAO has repeatedly coordinated both directly and indirectly with agencies through joint meetings, seeking solutions despite jurisdictional constraints.

Kamranwit urged residents to photograph or video dark spots with poles and fixtures, then report via the PAO LINE to consolidate feedback for responsible agencies, accelerating concrete problem-solving and keeping affected residents informed of progress.

Artsisdh noted that Princess Siriwannawaree Nariratana Rajakanya has demonstrated remarkable dedication in supporting the royal initiative and advancing Thai textile and handicraft heritage in a sustainable manner. Her royal vision combines traditional textile artistry unique to each region with contemporary fashion perspectives through the 'Thai Fabric for Enjoyable Wearing' initiative, which has gained widespread popularity across all ages and genders while creating employment and elevating Thai textiles internationally.

The Princess has played a crucial role in advancing Thailand's cultural and creative industries at an international level, notably receiving UNESCO recognition and a commendation medal on July 18, 2568, for her contributions to cultural heritage preservation and promotion. She has championed various initiatives to promote indigenous Thai weaving, including the Don Koy Model Project, the Na Wa Model Project, the Batik Learning Center Model, and the Thai Fabric for Enjoyable Wearing project.

Artsisdh further noted that the Princess proposed registering the 'Thai suit' as an intangible cultural heritage in 2569, reflecting the beauty and uniqueness of Thai culture rooted in the royal vision of the late Queen Sirikit. Throughout her work, she has provided numerous approved textile patterns and established the 'Sustainable Fashion' certification mark for environmentally-friendly textile and handicraft producers, demonstrating her long-term vision for advancing handicraft arts while protecting the environment.

Artsisdh expressed honor and delight at the gathering, noting that Chiang Mai is a province rich in cultural arts and valued traditions, particularly Thai textiles, which represent invaluable national cultural heritage.

Bhumjai Thai Spokesperson Nattachon Fires Back at Prayut, Defends Pipat Over Sia Tua Connection Claims While Attacking Pheu Thai's Candidate Selection

Bhumjai Thai spokesman Nattachon defended Deputy PM Pipat against calls for his removal over a Sia Tua connection, arguing that Pheu Thai has nominated candidates with serious criminal records while demanding accountability from rivals.

2 May Khaosod

On May 2, 2025, Nattachon Srikorkuea, spokesman for the Bhumjai Thai party and Songkhla MP, addressed the case of Nathapong Ruengpanyavutti, leader of the Pheu Thai party, who proposed removing Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Pipat Ratchakij over his connection to Sia Tua. Nattachon called the demand peculiar, noting it was ironic that the opposition party, which claims to be progressive, made such accusations while Pheu Thai has numerous parliamentary candidates and MPs with serious issues ranging from minor gray areas to deeply criminal matters.

"The behavior of Pheu Thai members is widely known throughout the country, involving sexual harassment, theft, violence against women, rape, drug trafficking, money laundering, and online gambling operations. These aren't minor ethical issues but serious criminal matters. Yet we don't see Pheu Thai members taking responsibility by resigning," Nattachon stated.

Nattachon further argued that knowing someone doesn't automatically imply complicity in their wrongdoing. He questioned why the opposition would demand Pipat's removal when Pheu Thai itself nominated candidates with serious criminal backgrounds, all approved by party leadership with clear authorization, yet neither party leadership nor Pheu Thai has shown any accountability to society.

Your Teeth Can Predict Longevity: Experts Reveal One Critical Factor to Watch for Long-Term Health

Strong teeth and good oral health are linked to longer lifespan, with research showing that tooth loss and untreated cavities increase risks of serious diseases including heart disease, diabetes, and dementia.

2 May Khaosod

Did you know your teeth can predict how long you'll live? Experts reveal one critical factor to observe that indicates long-term health. The key to a longer life starts with the small things.

Recent research clearly shows that "oral health" may be one of the most important indicators of lifespan. Scientists from Japan and the United States found that strong, well-maintained teeth aren't just about aesthetics—they're directly linked to overall health and longevity.

The Unexpected Key to a Longer Life: It All Starts in Your Mouth

For many people, visiting the dentist might be an unpleasant experience, from the sound of instruments to the clinic smell or fear of treatment. But new evidence shows that regular dental checkups and treatment can add years to your life. Research from Osaka University, working with researchers from the US and Finland, found that oral health is closely connected to overall health and human lifespan.

Tooth Decay and Tooth Loss: A "Silent Danger" More Serious Than You Think

Historically, cavities, infections, and mouth inflammation have caused serious diseases and death. Though modern dental technology has advanced greatly, this problem remains a major threat. The World Health Organization lists declining oral health as a major risk factor for the elderly. A Japanese study analyzing data from nearly 200,000 seniors (age 75+) found that those with many missing teeth or untreated cavities had significantly higher mortality risk than those with healthy or properly treated teeth.

Good Teeth = Good Health = Long Life

Researchers note that the number of strong, well-maintained teeth is a crucial indicator of overall health. The more teeth you lose, the greater your risk of serious disease, including:

- Diabetes - High blood pressure - Heart disease - Kidney failure - Dementia - Even cancer

US research found that people with untreated cavities have higher heart disease mortality risk. In Finland, heart disease patients who maintained proper dental care lived longer than those who neglected oral health. The key finding is that it's not just the number of teeth, but their "condition" that determines our health and lifespan.

"Oral Fragility": A New Risk Factor Drawing Attention

Research from a scientific institute in Tokyo highlights a condition called "oral fragility," which includes symptoms such as:

- Missing teeth - Dry mouth - Speech difficulty - Chewing or swallowing difficulty

Seniors with three or more of these symptoms have a 34% higher mortality risk compared to those without them. The main cause stems from malnutrition, as they can't chew or swallow food properly, leading to a weaker body and increased illness.

Visiting the Dentist: An Investment in a Longer Life

Interestingly, regular dental visits can extend your lifespan by approximately one year. Researchers from Tokyo note that "tooth condition has a significant relationship with shortened lifespan, emphasizing the importance of oral health to the quality of life for seniors." Whether male or female, maintaining your teeth and receiving continuous dental care increases your chances of living a longer, healthier life.

Oral health isn't a minor issue—it's one of the critical factors affecting your long-term health. Brushing your teeth, flossing, and visiting your dentist regularly may be simple keys that help you live a longer, higher-quality life.

75-Year-Old Buddhist Monk Found Dead in Tent at Saraphi Highway

A 75-year-old Buddhist monk was found dead in a tent along Saraphi Highway in Chiang Mai on May 2, with authorities suspecting extreme pre-monsoon heat as the likely cause.

2 May Khaosod

At 8:30 a.m. on May 2, 2569, investigator Thanung Wanasri from Saraphi Police Station in Chiang Mai received a report of a deceased monk near the Saraphi Highway on the outbound side of the city in Moo 3, Chaisathan Subdistrict, Saraphi District, Chiang Mai. Officers and Saraphi rescue personnel rushed to the scene and found the body of Phra Bunchart, 75 years old, deceased in a resting tent. Investigator Thanung disclosed that the death was reported with an unknown cause. The body showed no signs of struggle or assault. According to witness statements, the deceased monk had been staying in the area since May 1 around 8:00 a.m. to meditate and was last seen around 6:00 p.m. On May 2 at approximately 8:30 a.m., he was found deceased. The body was transported to Saraphi Hospital for an autopsy and then sent to Maharaj Nakhon Chiang Mai Hospital for further investigation into the cause of death. Initial assessment suggests that the extreme heat during the current pre-monsoon period, characterized by intense humidity before rainfall, may have contributed to the death. The monk's use of a tent instead of proper shelter likely intensified the heat exposure, potentially leading to his death.
