Mourinho Responds to Real Madrid Return Reports

Jose Mourinho has denied Real Madrid made any approach to return him as manager, dismissing speculation that arose as the club trails Barcelona by 11 points with five matches left in La Liga.

1 May Khaosod

Jose Mourinho, manager of Benfica, has denied that anyone from Real Madrid has contacted him about returning to manage the club for a second time at Santiago Bernabeu. Mourinho, who previously managed Real Madrid between 2010-2013, had been reported as a candidate to make a comeback and replace Alvaro Albareque as manager. This speculation arose as Real Madrid's La Liga title race appeared to be slipping away, with the team trailing Barcelona by 11 points with just 5 matches remaining. The 63-year-old Mourinho, currently in charge of Benfica in Portugal's top league, has now dismissed the rumors, stating: "Nobody from Real Madrid has spoken to me about this. I can confirm that. I've been in football for a long time and I'm familiar with these kinds of rumors, but there's really nothing from Real Madrid. I still have a contract with Benfica for another year, and that's all there is to it."

Police General Tawee Makes Merit Offerings at Buddhist and Chinese Temples in Tak Bai and Sungai Kolok; Community Rallies to Support Justice and Safety

Police General Tawee visited Buddhist and Chinese temples in Narathiwat's Tak Bai and Sungai Kolok districts, making merit offerings while community members expressed support for his leadership and frustration over an unsolved criminal case

1 May Khaosod

On May 1, Police General Tawee Sadsong, leader of the Palang Prachachon Party, visited Narathiwat province, beginning with a morning discussion at a local restaurant to listen to residents' concerns. The highlight occurred at Hiranyawat Temple in Tak Bai district, where Tawee served as lay presider for a foundation stone ceremony, with senior monks including Dharmmavachara as ecclesiastical presider and nine distinguished monks attending. The temple, over 100 years old, serves as a symbol of the border region and national identity. Tawee emphasized the importance of preserving local identity and the Jah-hey dialect, which represents cross-border friendship with Malaysia, describing the merit-making as an expression of pride in maintaining culture. Local residents expressed faith in Tawee's leadership and sought blessings for his safety amid current turbulent political circumstances. Community members voiced frustration over the Kamalsakdi case, questioning why the perpetrator remained at large despite clear evidence and criticizing Region 4 Commander's inappropriate public statements. Tawee subsequently visited Mae To Mo Chinese Shrine in Sungai Kolok district for ceremonial worship, presenting donations for temple maintenance and public welfare activities. A shrine committee member expressed prayers for Tawee's safety and protection from ill-intentioned individuals. This visit coincided with the 40th-day anniversary of the Kamalsakdi case, creating doubt and suspicion in the Narathiwat area. Tawee's meetings with both Buddhist and ethnic Thai-Chinese communities underscored the Palang Prachachon Party's commitment as a reliable force for all religions in the southern border region during the current political turbulence.

The unusual merit-making event took place May 1 at Wat Mai Amphon in Suung Noen district, drawing large crowds of both devotees and lottery enthusiasts. According to Pichit Saekhoo, a representative of the Suang Saeng Tham Foundation, the businessman had previously participated in the third forest ordination ceremony and prayed to Kumarn Thong (a spirit child). After his wishes were granted, he returned to fulfill his vow through the merit-making ceremony. The unconventional approach of "screening ghost movies for ghosts" captured widespread attention from locals and visitors. Lottery enthusiasts seized the opportunity to identify lucky numbers from the event details, including the nearly one million baht winnings, the 800 spirits, and the dates May 1-3 and the "3 days, 9 films" count. The foundation invited the public to participate in the final soul transfer ceremony, which would involve two cremation pyres separated by gender, with children and Kumarn Thong spirits cremated together on the female side, representing a blend of traditional Thai beliefs, faith, and merit-making practices.
