Meteorological Department Issues 4th Warning for Severe Weather, Heavy Rain, and Flooding Risk
Thailand's Meteorological Department has issued its 4th severe weather alert warning of heavy thunderstorms, strong winds, and flash flooding risks across northern, northeastern, eastern, central, and southern regions through May 10. Authorities advise residents to avoid outdoor activities and take precautions against thunderstorms and accumulated rainfall that could trigger sudden floods. Farmers are urged to protect crops and livestock from potential weather damage.
On May 6, 2569, the Thai Meteorological Department issued the 4th severe weather warning (53/2569) affecting Thailand through May 10, 2569. Northern, northeastern, eastern, and central Thailand, including Bangkok and its vicinity, will experience increasing thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, and heavy rain in some areas. Following this, cooler air will move in as a high-pressure system from China spreads over the northeastern region and the South China Sea, combined with moisture-laden winds from the Gulf of Thailand and South China Sea covering upper Thailand. Stronger easterly winds over the southern region and Gulf of Thailand will bring heavy rain to the south.
Authorities urge residents to exercise caution against thunderstorms and strong winds by avoiding open areas, large trees, buildings, and weak structures. Residents should also be vigilant about heavy and accumulated rainfall that could trigger flash floods and flash flooding. Farmers are advised to reinforce fruit trees and prepare protective measures for agricultural products and livestock, while maintaining health during this period of weather fluctuations.
