Lanlana Thararyudee Breaks Into Top 100: Thailand's Fourth Female Player to Reach World Rankings Elite
Thai tennis player Lanlana Thararyudee broke into the WTA top 100 this week, becoming Thailand's fourth female player to reach the elite rankings after winning her first WTA title in Austin.
The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) released its weekly world rankings on May 4, 2026, with 21-year-old Thai tennis player Lanlana Thararyudee climbing 14 places from 113th to secure 99th in the world rankings for the first time, marking her entry into the top 100.
Thararyudee has delivered impressive performances throughout 2026, capturing her first WTA 125 title at the Austin event in the United States and reaching the final at the ITF W100 level. Earlier this year, she also made her Grand Slam main draw debut at the Australian Open, reaching the second round in singles—both historic firsts for the Thai player.
With these achievements, Lanlana becomes Thailand's fourth female tennis player to crack the top 100 world rankings, following in the footsteps of Tamarine Tanasugarn, Latisha Chan, and Mananchaya Sawhung.
Meanwhile, Mananchaya Sawhung jumped 11 places to 175th after winning the ITF W100 title in Japan this week. This week, Lanlana competes at the Jiangxi Open in China, a WTA 125 event, where as the top seed she faces Russian player Sofya Lansere (ranked 268th) in the first round.
