On May 2, 2026, Kasetsart University officially opened the Kasetsart University Taekwondo Institute (KUTA) at the KU Home Building's third floor. Dr. Damrong Sriphraram, acting university president, joined key figures including Thanit Raktabut, secretary-general of the Thailand Taekwondo Association, and renowned taekwondo coach Dr. Chatchai Che to launch the facility. The nine-story building, originally a four-star hotel, was converted into a modern taekwondo training center to develop coaching standards, train referees, and nurture youth athletes toward national championship levels.
Dr. Damrong explained that the institute aims to teach taekwondo skills to children, develop athletic excellence, assess athlete proficiency, train certified coaches and referees to international standards, and organize taekwondo competitions. Coach Che, the institute director, expressed gratitude to the university and emphasized the center's mission to advance taekwondo education, enhance coaching capabilities, and promote youth health and sportsmanship. The institute will accept students from age seven and above, with training conducted at Kasetsart University Demonstration School. Coach Che also discussed preparations for youth Olympic taekwondo competitions, aiming to select qualified athletes to represent Thailand at international events, particularly the Youth Olympic Games.
