Justice Minister Rutthapol Naowarattana addressed a case involving alleged fraud in the 2568 local government civil service and municipal employee recruitment exams during a government meeting on July 7, 2569. The Prime Minister appointed a multi-agency committee to investigate the matter, with the Justice Ministry as a key participant. The Special Investigation Department (DSI) is preparing to handle it as a special case and is investigating reports that exam coaches in various provinces deceived candidates.
Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilprapan, who chairs the committee, will convene meetings to accelerate proceedings as ordered by the Prime Minister. When asked how wrongdoers would be prosecuted, the Justice Minister explained that responsibility depends on the nature of findings. Cases falling under the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) would go to the NACC; newly discovered cases involving police would follow police procedures; and cases within DSI's purview would be handled by DSI.
Regarding whether politicians are implicated in the fraud, Minister Rutthapol stated that DSI has only begun investigating and no additional reports have been submitted. The case has not yet been classified as special because it must be reviewed by the Special Cases Board. Classification as a special case depends on evidence showing widespread victim fraud, at which point the board will immediately approve special case status.
