HolyShred Thai Restaurant in San Francisco Uses Data-Driven Strategy to Crack DoorDash's Top 10
A fast-casual Thai restaurant in San Francisco entered DoorDash's top 10 Thai restaurants just three months after opening by using data-driven strategies and maintaining authentic flavors while adapting to American dining habits.
HolyShred, a fast-casual Thai restaurant in downtown San Francisco, is leveraging data-driven strategies to fuel its growth. Just three months after opening its first location in October 2025, the restaurant has already climbed into the top 10 most popular Thai restaurants on DoorDash in San Francisco, reflecting strong consumer appetite for authentic, bold Thai cuisine in the U.S. market. This achievement demonstrates growing openness among U.S. consumers toward diverse and distinctive Thai flavors.
HolyShred was founded by a team of young Thai entrepreneurs who recognize Thai food as one of Thailand's key strengths and want to present it in an accessible format suited to urban lifestyles. The name combines "Holy" (representing "the ultimate") with "Shred" (referring to the shredded meat dishes), creating a memorable, easy-to-recall brand. HolyShred maintains authentic Thai flavor profiles—spicy and intense—without over-Americanizing the cuisine, while adapting the dining experience to American consumer behavior, such as adding chili paste and simplifying menu composition.
Signature menu items include shredded chicken noodles, Haad Yai-style fried chicken rice with nam jim dipping sauce, and green curry with grilled chicken. Other offerings include wagyu soy stir-fry, wagyu drunken noodles, and fried chicken pad Thai served with fragrant chili dip instead of standard chili powder, adding contemporary dimensions to the Thai dining experience. Average prices per dish are around $13.95 (approximately 452 baht), below the typical 18+ dollar range for comparable restaurants, with average order value around $25 (approximately 810 baht). The primary customer base consists of working professionals in San Francisco's business district.
Co-founder Thanach Chatuphat explained that HolyShred emerged from a team with complementary expertise. Co-founder Peeradeep Mukjangkul brings business development and marketing experience from his previous role at a renowned Thai Edtech company, while Thanach brings technology development and platform expertise to build HolyShred's backend systems. They've developed dashboards to track customer growth and identify service hotspots to improve speed and efficiency. The team is preparing a new funding round from both Thai and international investors, with plans to expand Thai cuisine nationwide across the U.S. and develop a modern, user-friendly Thai food ordering platform catering to health-conscious consumers.
