Icon Siam opens a contemporary art perspective, showcasing Thai painting identity through the 'Siam Art' exhibition that beautifully blends culture with modern creativity.

Recently, Icon Siam hosted the 'Siam Art' thesis exhibition featuring artwork by young artists in the GRAD AND GLOW ARTS THESIS SHOWCASE 2026, presented by Thai painting students from the Faculty of Decorative Arts at Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin at ICON Art & Culture Space on the 8th floor of Icon Siam.

The exhibition reflects Thai artistic identity through a contemporary lens, presenting works that merge concepts from Thai literature, legends, and cultural narratives with traditional creative processes and modern artistic techniques, expressed through brushstrokes and individual artistic lines while preserving the essence of 'national art' in Thai painting.

'Siam Art' serves not only as a platform for students to showcase their potential, but also as a space that consolidates knowledge and experience accumulated throughout the Bachelor of Fine Arts curriculum, translating into works that reflect individual identity, thought, and imagination through art and science that deeply embody the spirit of 'Siam'.

The opening ceremony was graced by Yoon Panpat Tetchmethakul, a painter and fashion designer known for collaborations with both Thai and international brands, who shared insights on 'Finding Your Signature Style: Lines the World Remembers,' while praising the students' work as impressive, noting that every piece is beautiful and valuable.

Tragic: 36-Year-Old Man Electrocuted by Faulty Power Pole in Front of Home

10 May Khaosod

At 6:30 AM on May 10, 2026, Deputy Inspector Akalak Buaphochan of Phatthananikom Police Station in Lopburi received a report of a death in front of a residential home in Subdistrict 4, Manao Wan. Officers arrived with an emergency doctor from Phatthananikom Hospital 88 and volunteers from a local charitable organization.

At the scene, they found the body of 36-year-old Chakraphan (surname withheld) lying face down with his head against the base of a street light pole. He was wearing a long-sleeved black shirt, blue jeans, and no shoes. An electronic cigarette was hanging around his neck, and his baseball cap was found near his body and collected as evidence.

Residents reported that the victim appeared to have been electrocuted. Authorities cordoned off the area and called electrical workers to investigate, discovering a current leak at the base of the pole. Power was immediately cut off. An autopsy revealed severe electrical burns on both legs, arms, face, and torso. Preliminary assessment suggested the victim had been dead for at least 2-3 hours.

While the autopsy was being conducted, the victim's father arrived to view his son's body and broke down crying so severely he collapsed. Relatives explained that Chakraphan had left home to go fishing at dusk and hadn't returned by evening. When family members went searching the next morning, they found him within 10 meters of the house, electrocuted against the power pole with smoke still rising from his body.

Police believe the victim may have stepped outside to urinate near dawn without realizing the electrical hazard. The area was wet from recent rain, and the victim was barefoot, which caused a fatal electrical short circuit. The body was sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at King Smitwattana Hospital in Nakhon Nayok for further investigation and autopsy.

Urgent: Thai Man Arrested by Cambodian Forces for Illegal Border Crossing While Foraging; Region 2 Military Command Mobilizing Assistance

A 58-year-old Thai forest forager from Surin was arrested by Cambodian soldiers after illegally crossing the border to forage on April 25; Region 2 Military Command is coordinating with Cambodia for his release through diplomatic channels.

10 May Khaosod

Urgent: Thai Man Arrested by Cambodian Forces for Illegal Border Crossing While Foraging; Region 2 Military Command Mobilizing Assistance. On May 10, 2025, Region 2 Military Command received a report from Surin forces that Cambodian soldiers had apprehended a Thai man who illegally crossed the border in the Talaeng checkpoint area of Kaeng Krachan District, Surin Province to forage for forest products, after he had gone missing for over 15 days, causing serious concern for his family.

The incident began on April 30, 2025, when a Facebook post from an account named "Wiparat Thongsaysorn" appealed for help locating a relative who had entered the forest to forage along the border and lost contact for 4-5 days.

Security, police, and administrative units subsequently investigated and identified the missing person as Mr. Yotchan, 58 years old, a resident of Prasat District, Surin Province, who works as a forest forager. He left home on April 25, 2025 around 6:00 PM on a motorcycle and disappeared without a trace.

The family reported that Mr. Yotchan typically only enters the forest for 1-2 days before returning home, raising suspicions that he may have encountered an unexpected incident or been detained by Cambodian authorities. His wife filed a missing person report at Kaeng Krachan Police Station on April 29 to request assistance in tracking him down.

On May 4, 2025, Surin forces received coordination from local police and urgently contacted the Cambodian side through Major Pho Peng, head of the Cambodian-Thai liaison unit in the Orotsmet area. Cambodia confirmed that Mr. Yotchan had illegally entered Cambodian territory and was arrested on charges of illegal border entry. He was transferred for prosecution in Udommachcai District.

Reporters indicated that the Region 2 Commander ordered the Surin forces commander to use the border liaison mechanism to urgently coordinate with Cambodian military counterparts for the fastest possible assistance.

Surin forces stated they recently received a help request from the family and immediately verified that Mr. Yotchan was indeed arrested. His return to Thailand is currently being coordinated through proper legal channels between the two countries.

Major Bunserm reported that after receiving coordination from local police and the Facebook page of "Khun Or Pairat," Surin forces learned of a missing person from Prasat District, located approximately 40 kilometers from the border.

Following this information, the military promptly contacted the Thai-Cambodian border liaison unit. Cambodia agreed to expedite the investigation. Early this morning, the Cambodian liaison unit called back to report that the missing Thai person is in Udormachcai District, Cambodia, and is safe and well.

Upon receiving this notification, orders were issued for the Thai border liaison center, together with administrative officials, village headmen, and police officers, to travel immediately to inform the missing person's family, so that relatives could be relieved of their worries and assured that he remains safe.

Mook Marissa, Wife of Sam Yuranant, Posts Emotional Message Revealing Mother's Condition

Mook Marissa, wife of actor Sam Yuranant, has posted an emotional account of their family's ordeal during his legal troubles, including her mother's death while waiting for his release from custody. The prosecutor has decided to file charges against Sam, and Mook calls for the truth to emerge as they prepare to defend themselves. The family spent a year quietly grieving after the mother's death before going public with their story.

10 May Khaosod

Following the major news surrounding the legal case, Sam Yuranant's family has remained supportive, particularly his wife Mook Marissa. Recently, Mook Marissa posted about events from the past on social media, stating: "My life has changed dramatically since this sudden incident became a major news story that has lasted for months. Time passes slowly and painfully. There is so much sadness that I cannot even describe it. I can only strengthen myself and endure as much as possible. Life has compounded my pain further when my mother's condition deteriorated and she became exhausted. Her body continued to decline. My mother said she was ready to go, she was tired, she couldn't take it anymore. Tears fell immediately. I told her, 'I can't take this anymore either. I cannot bear anything more than this. Please don't go. You must wait for Sam to come out first. If you die, I will die with you. Let our bodies be placed side by side. When Sam comes out, there will be no one left. How could you do that to me?' My mother was silent and replied, 'Okay, I will wait for Sam.'

Life continued as before, slowly. I visited every day, wrote letters every day—multiple letters daily. There were phone calls, and twice a month according to regulations, my mother, my older aunt, and my other older aunt could talk and see each other through video calls. Until day 84, when the Supreme Prosecutor's Office announced they would not press charges and restored his freedom. Of course, we were overjoyed. I remember clearly—January 8, 2568—he came home to us. The next day, I went to see my mother, to pay respects and seek blessings for good fortune and to overcome hardship.

On February 17, my mother passed away surrounded by the embraces of all three of her children. My mother kept her promise. She waited for Sam.

For the past year, we kept quiet. We didn't make any announcements or give any interviews. We didn't want to discuss what hurt us. We wanted to forget that dark period. Elder Sam meditated, chanted, and found peace until he ordained again. Quietly, without anyone knowing except close family and friends.

Mother's 50-day merit-making ceremony was held at Rathadiwasvoraviharn Temple, where her ashes were placed together with father's at Sujarit Kul Hall. Elder Sam attended the ceremony as a Buddhist monk.

After disrobing, Sam continues to observe precepts and chants daily. Our life together was constant, 24 hours a day, sometimes in Bangkok, sometimes in Khon Kaen.

Until the day the prosecutor's office decided to press charges. Of course, my heart almost broke. Surely everyone is afraid. But what we fear most is the uncertainty.

Now is the time to prove ourselves once again. I will not say anything further. I only ask that the truth be revealed."

Manoporn Sees End to Political Conflict Over Thaksin Shinawatra; Anusorn Raises Symbol of Democracy Fighter

10 May Khaosod

On May 10, 2025, Manoporn Jaroensri, deputy leader of Pheu Thai Party, addressed plans for the suspension of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's sentence scheduled for May 11. While acknowledging that Thaksin is the spiritual leader of Pheu Thai and a former premier who greatly benefited the nation, the party decided against formally organizing a reception due to members' conflicting schedules. Instead, party members will individually attend if they are able. Manoporn emphasized that regardless of whether Thaksin was imprisoned or free, he consistently harbored goodwill toward the country, though he was viewed as a political rival. Given Thaksin's advanced age and having fully served his sentence, Manoporn believes the political conflict surrounding him should end, and she wishes him good health and time with his family.

Anusorn Eamsaad, Pheu Thai executive committee member, described Thaksin as a significant figure who courageously stood on democracy's path for a long time, symbolizing freedom, hope, and the people's faith. Over two decades of Thai society facing continuous political turmoil while the world experienced geopolitical and economic upheaval, Anusorn stressed that Thais should embrace unity to move the nation toward stability and international dignity. He described Thaksin as embodying democracy's spirit and pledged to greet him on May 11 alongside red-shirt supporters and democracy advocates.

Regarding Thaksin's future political role, Anusorn noted it remains a personal choice, but emphasized that during his tenure as Prime Minister, Thaksin left a lasting legacy of strategic vision and public policies that tangibly improved people's lives across regions. Anusorn highlighted how Thaksin's policies transformed government work from distant rhetoric into genuine opportunities that elevated living standards, created dignity, and instilled hope—representing living democracy that ordinary people could truly experience.

Storm Devastates Rayong Durian Orchards: 43 Tons Lost, Farmers Face 4.3 Million Baht Damage

A severe summer storm devastated durian orchards in Rayong province, destroying 43 tons of fruit and causing 4.3 million baht in damages affecting 146 farmers across four districts. Agricultural officials have launched emergency support efforts and implemented strict quality control measures to prevent storm-damaged durians from reaching the market. Farmers are being advised on recovery techniques and alternative processing options to minimize losses.

10 May Khaosod

On May 10, a powerful summer storm swept through Rayong province, causing significant damage to durian orchards across multiple areas. The hardest-hit districts were Wang Chan, Kaeng, Khao Chamao, and Pluak Daeng—areas where harvest season was imminent—leaving many farmers in distress. Toppled trees and fallen fruit posed immediate challenges during this critical growing period.

Somhmai Phonmani, director of Rayong Provincial Agriculture Office, confirmed that after the storm struck, agricultural extension officers coordinated with local authorities, community leaders, and relevant agencies to conduct damage assessments and provide support to affected farmers. The initial survey on May 9 documented impacts across 4 districts, 12 subdistricts, and 31 villages, affecting 146 farmers with 16 trees toppled in Wang Chan district alone.

Total damage reached over 43 tons of durian valued at approximately 4.3 million baht, distributed as follows: - Wang Chan: 18.1 tons, affecting 77 farmers - Pluak Daeng: 2.95 tons, affecting 4 farmers - Khao Chamao: 18 tons, affecting 9 farmers - Kaeng: 3.95 tons, affecting 56 farmers

Official recovery guidance emphasizes pruning damaged branches, supporting remaining branches, and tying fruit to prevent further losses. Farmers are advised to process ripening fruit into value-added products like fried durian and durian ice cream, while softer fruit can be converted into compost to minimize waste.

Meanwhile, Rayong's agricultural office coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and a durian quality control task force to conduct strict monitoring and inspections. The goal is to prevent wind-damaged or underripe durians from entering the market under the guise of quality fruit, thereby protecting Rayong's durian reputation and consumer confidence.

Farmers are urged to monitor weather forecasts closely and update their agricultural registrations to ensure rapid access to government assistance should another disaster strike during this vulnerable period.

PM Anutin Inspects Phuket to Address Illegal Beach and State Land Encroachment at Bang Tao and Freedom Beaches

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul made an inspection tour of Phuket on May 10, 2025, to address illegal encroachment issues affecting Bang Tao and Freedom Beaches, which involve unauthorized construction on public beaches and protected forest land. At Bang Tao Beach, authorities have struggled to control recurring construction of bars and restaurants, while at Freedom Beach, officials have filed 23 cases covering over 57 rai of illegally occupied national forest. The PM's visit underscores the government's commitment to reclaiming public and protected lands from encroachers in this strategically important coastal province.

10 May Khaosod

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul arrived at Phuket International Airport at 10:30 AM on May 10, 2025, to oversee and monitor efforts to resolve illegal encroachment on public beaches and state land at Bang Tao Beach in Thalang District and Freedom Beach in Mueang Phuket District. He was accompanied by Interior Ministry Deputy Minister Worasit Liangprasit, PM Secretary General Traisulee Triserngkul, and other senior officials. Phuket Governor Nirat Pongsitthawatr coordinated the inspection.

At Bang Tao Beach in Chiang Thale Subdistrict, the PM received a briefing on the long-standing beach encroachment issue. The area had previously been cleared of illegal wooden bar and restaurant structures by local authorities, but since late 2564 (2021), new construction with more solid structures has returned, covering the entire beach area. Claims are being made based on some land title deeds and alleged owner consent. Local authorities have issued legal orders under the Building Control Act of 2522 (1979) to enforce removal.

In the afternoon, the PM traveled to Freedom Beach, a disputed area spanning Pa Tong and Kathu Districts, to monitor operations reclaiming encroached National Reserved Forest land in the Naka Mountain Range. Under Governor Nirat's coordination, security and forestry officials discovered clear encroachment, resulting in 23 cases filed under the Forestry Act and National Reserved Forest Act. The illegal encroachment covered over 57 rai of the forest's total 24,750 rai, representing a strategically important natural resource area for Phuket Province.

Frontier Airlines Flight: Man Breaches Security, Climbs Fence onto Runway and Dies

A man breached security at Denver International Airport, scaled a fence onto the runway, and was struck by a Frontier Airlines aircraft during takeoff on May 8, killing him; all 224 passengers safely evacuated despite an engine fire.

10 May Khaosod

BBC reported on May 10 regarding an unexpected incident at Denver International Airport in Colorado, USA, around 11:00 p.m. local time on Friday, May 8. A Frontier Airlines Airbus A321 Flight 4345 struck a man who died during takeoff. Audio recordings from air traffic control revealed the pilot reported "we just hit a person" and "our engine is on fire." Fortunately, firefighters extinguished the fire quickly and all 224 passengers evacuated using emergency inflatable slides. While everyone was safe, 12 passengers sustained minor injuries. Frontier Airlines stated the individual jumped over the airport perimeter fence about 2 minutes before the tragic incident occurred, just after air traffic control cleared Flight 4345 for departure. U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated the aircraft was moving at high speed when the intruder deliberately breached Denver International Airport's security system by scaling the fence and running onto the runway. Duffy emphasized "no one should breach an airport." He noted that commercial airliners typically take off at speeds between 150-180 mph (240-290 km/h). Denver International Airport administration does not believe the trespasser was an airport employee, and inspection of the perimeter fence found it to be intact.
