At 4:20 PM on May 5, 2569, at Samyan Mitrtown, Bangkok MP Phanthil Nuamjiem of the Pheu Thai Party addressed his parliamentary remarks that implicated village headmen and headwomen in drug-related matters. He apologized for miscommunicating and generalizing about local leaders. However, he maintained that his Khlongtoey case comments were based on genuine public complaints about easy drug access, not an attack on the community, as he himself is from Khlongtoey. He explained he spoke in general terms rather than naming specific individuals to protect informants from potential danger.
Phanthil acknowledged his reference to village leaders was a mistake, as he unfairly generalized. He said he should have used more precise language like "some individuals" instead. He announced he would request permission from the parliamentary speaker on May 6 to stand and clarify his miscommunication and lack of malicious intent.
When asked about his party's disciplinary committee reviewing the matter, Phanthil stated he would accept all warnings, criticisms, and penalties, as he genuinely communicated incorrectly. Regarding calls from Bhumjaithai MPs for his resignation, he emphasized this must follow party procedures and accepted responsibility accordingly.
When informed that some village leaders said his apology was insufficient and urged him to reflect further, Phanthil raised his hands in wai gesture and apologized again, denying any ill intent and promising greater caution in the future. He expressed willingness to accept whatever disciplinary measures his party's committee imposes on him as a member.
