Electrician Electrocuted While Installing Decorative Lights, Knocked Unconscious on 5-Meter-High Scaffolding
A 34-year-old electrician was electrocuted and knocked unconscious while installing decorative lights on 5-meter-high scaffolding at a temple in Buriram Province on April 29; rescue workers used a bucket truck to bring him down for hospital
On April 29, 2026, rescue workers from Nong Yai Subdistrict Administrative Organization in Buriram Province responded to a report of a man electrocuted on scaffolding in front of Swai Tangwan Temple in Nong Yai Subdistrict, Satuk District. At the scene, they found Nucha, 34, lying unconscious on the third level of a steel scaffolding approximately 5 meters above ground. No bystanders dared approach to help due to the metal structure. Rescue officials deployed a bucket truck and brought down Nucha's body in an unconscious state, though he still had a faint pulse. He was immediately transported to Satuk Hospital. Witness Chup Jaeng, 42, a sausage vendor, reported that she was preparing her goods when she saw the electrician on the scaffolding installing decorative lights in front of the temple. She suddenly heard a crackling sound and witnessed an electrical arc strike down at the man before he convulsed and collapsed onto the scaffolding. Rescue official Thot, 61, stated that the electrical short circuit originated from a high-voltage power line. He theorized that Nucha was attempting to lift a bamboo pole with decorative lights already attached to fashion it into a decorative arrangement, but the bamboo pole contacted the high-voltage power line, causing the short circuit.
