A freight train collided with a bus near Suvarnabhumi Airport Railway Station, resulting in 8 deaths and approximately 25 injuries, with damage to 5 cars and 3 motorcycles. Dashboard and CCTV footage from moments before the crash shows multiple vehicles and a bus parked across the railroad tracks, which prevented the crossing gates from functioning and coincided with the train's arrival. Previously shared social media videos from the same location showed trains stopped while numerous vehicles were parked illegally on the tracks at a red light. The State Railway of Thailand's PR team emphasized that drivers must stop at least 5 meters before crossing railroad tracks and are strictly prohibited from parking on the tracks under the Land Traffic Act, Section 63. When railroad crossings lack warning signals or barriers, drivers must reduce speed and stop at least 5 meters away, only proceeding once it is safe to do so.

Case Closed! BBQ Equipment Theft Report Ends with Red Fox Caught with Hot Dog in Its Mouth

A red fox caught stealing a hot dog from a barbecue in Alberta, Canada turned out to be the culprit behind a reported equipment theft, with police humorously "releasing" their furry suspect with a full stomach.

3d ago Khaosod

Police in Alberta, Canada encountered an unexpected twist after receiving a report of "barbecue equipment theft" that seemed serious but turned out to be comedy gold from start to finish. When officers arrived at the scene in Crowsnest Pass, they found not a criminal suspect, but a red fox proudly carrying a hot dog in its mouth, appearing to have just completed a successful heist. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police humorously posted on social media that they were searching for a suspect with "red hair, short stature, and wearing a thick coat"—a description that sounded serious but was oddly suspicious from the start. After a quick area search, officers discovered the "suspect" attempting to hide evidence nearby, only to realize the evidence in question was the hot dog firmly lodged in the fox's mouth. Police shared photos of the incident on social media, which immediately went viral because the image of the red fox with its prize perfectly "closed the case" without any further investigation needed. Ultimately, officers concluded their report with a tongue-in-cheek summary: "The suspect was released without conditions and with a full stomach," sending internet users into fits of laughter and sharing the story widely, cementing yet another bizarre case in online history.

Freight train slams into Bangkok bus, killing 8 and injuring more than 20

A freight train collided with a Bangkok bus near Makkasan Station on Saturday, killing at least eight people and injuring more than 20 in a crash that sparked a major fire and dragged the vehicle 50 metres across the tracks.

3d ago Khaosod

BANGKOK — 16 May 2026, A freight train collided with a Route 23 air-conditioned bus near the Airport Rail Link Makkasan Station in Bangkok on Saturday afternoon, sparking a major fire that killed at least eight people and injured more than 20 others, officials said.

The crash occurred at about 15:50 when a freight train travelling from Chachoengsao province to Bang Sue struck the bus, which operates on the Bang Na–Thewet route. The impact dragged the vehicle about 50 metres before it burst into flames, according to preliminary reports from authorities at the scene.

Several motorcycles and cars were also caught up in secondary collisions near the crossing, with additional fires reported in the area.

Firefighters and emergency responders from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Makkasan police station and rescue foundations rushed to contain the blaze. Authorities later brought the fire under control and began recovering bodies and clearing the wreckage.

Deputy Transport Minister Siripong Angkasakulkiat, who inspected the scene, said initial reports confirmed eight deaths and about 25 injuries. Victims were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment, while the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) would provide assistance to those affected.

He said reports that the bus had become stranded across the railway crossing remained unconfirmed and investigators were still determining the exact cause of the crash. However, he noted the freight train was carrying a heavy load at the time of the collision.

Video recorded near the scene captured the bus engulfed in flames following the collision.

Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt also visited the scene to monitor the situation. Officials from Ratchathewi district told him the train was approaching from Chachoengsao en route to Bang Sue when the bus became stuck across the tracks amid heavy traffic congestion.

According to preliminary accounts, malfunctioning crossing barriers may have contributed to the crash, allowing the train to strike the bus before dragging it along the tracks and igniting the fire. Authorities stressed that the circumstances remained under investigation and final conclusions had not yet been reached.

One witness, identified as Aun, 38, said he had stopped his Audi before the crossing when he suddenly heard two loud impacts. Moments later, his vehicle was struck on the left side by debris from the collision.

"When I turned to look, I saw the train pushing the bus away and flames erupted almost immediately," he said, adding that the incident unfolded so quickly he believed his own car could have been swept into the crash.

Aun said he later discovered an injured person trapped beneath his vehicle with what appeared to be a broken leg. He reversed the car to help rescuers pull the victim free before the injured person was sent to hospital.

He also praised local motorcycle taxi riders who helped.

3d ago Khaosod

LAMPANG — 16 May 2026, Thai authorities raided an alleged illegal bitcoin mining operation in northern Thailand after discovering suspected electricity theft that caused losses estimated at more than 3 million baht ($81,000), officials said.

Provincial Electricity Authority officials and police officers executed a court-approved search at a commercial building in Lampang province after reports of abnormal electrical activity.

Investigators said neighbouring buildings experienced overheating electrical cables that began melting, prompting authorities to inspect the area.

Officals later discovered illegal connections to the main electricity supply allegedly used to power cryptocurrency mining equipment inside the building.

According to the Provincial Electricity Authority, the building's recorded monthly electricity bill was only about 400 baht ($11), despite evidence of extremely high power consumption.

Authorities began surveillance on the evening of 15 May but were unable to enter the property until obtaining a search warrant the following morning.

During the raid, officers found numerous bitcoin mining machines operating on the fourth floor of the four-storey building, along with internet systems and related equipment.

Several machines were still running during the inspection, officials said.

Authorities are assessing the total financial damage and investigating those responsible for the operation for possible legal action.
