Iran says a US proposal to end the conflict is "still under consideration" following reports that the two sides may be close to reaching a deal. The US news outlet Axios reported on May 6 that the White House believes it could be nearing a 14-point memorandum of understanding with Iran.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bagaei said Iran will share its views on the US proposal with Pakistan, which is serving as a mediator. "Iran is currently considering the US proposal and after reaching a conclusion will inform Pakistan of its opinion."

Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar said Pakistan is working to transform the ceasefire into a permanent end to the war.
