Director Nottapon Boonprakob of The Evil Lawyer series has unveiled a touching behind-the-scenes story through a series fun fact, explaining how sunflowers symbolize the character Wimol, inspired by his own mother. He revealed that he invited his mother to appear in the show as well.
Through a personal Facebook post, Nottapon explained: "The Evil Lawyer: fun fact 04 - Sunflowers. Wimol's office, the mother of Mek and Rit, is filled with sunflowers. Every week, Rit must replace the sunflowers in front of Wimol's ashes. While alive, Wimol loved sunflowers because they radiated warm energy and light to everyone around her. For Mek and Rit, Wimol was like a sunflower in their lives—just as she is for my sister Moo, my father, and many others in the family, as well as countless friends and students. My mother Panni has been a sunflower in all of our lives."
He continued, "I didn't realize Mother loved sunflowers so much, but they once appeared in her profile picture, and she smiled as brightly as the sunflowers beside it. That image stayed with us forever. Every time I see a sunflower, I automatically think of Mother. When making The Evil Lawyer, I decided to invite Mother to appear in a scene as a neighbor of Wimol's house. She performed wonderfully, and Father boasted to his friends that Mother was acting in our production again.
"I used to forget Mother's birthday constantly. But today, July 8th, is her birthday. I took this opportunity to record Mother in the series and even included her birthday in a scene. I'm guaranteed never to forget now! Happy birthday, Mother Moo."
