Suchart opens 2026 National Community Forest Day, promoting the concept 'Creating Happiness, Creating Income, Creating the Future' with a target of developing over 12,000 community forests nationwide into a sustainable green economic foundation.

On May 25, 2026, at the Naval Seamanship Center in Chonburi Province, Suchart Chomklin, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, chaired the opening of the 'National Community Forest Day' for 2026 under the theme 'Community Forest Based Wellness: Community Forests Creating Happiness, Creating Income, Creating the Future.'

Chonburi Governor Narit Niramayavongs and MP Anant Pridasutchit welcomed the event, which was attended by Dr. Raweevan Puridech, Permanent Secretary of the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry, along with executives from related agencies, government officials, Royal Forest Department staff, and community forest network representatives.

This event aims to promote people living harmoniously with forests according to sufficiency economy principles, while elevating over 12,000 community forests to serve as a foundation for sustainable economic and environmental security nationwide.

Suchart revealed that the government, under Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, prioritizes forest resource management, particularly promoting community roles in forest conservation under the 2019 Community Forest Act. Currently, there are over 12,000 community forests distributed across all regions, covering 7 million rai and benefiting over 5 million households.

This event expresses gratitude to Thailand's monarchy for establishing the foundation for forest resource conservation and development through royal initiatives, emphasizing balance between conservation and sustainable use so people can coexist with forests in accordance with sufficiency economy philosophy.

Suchart further noted that community forests serve as important carbon storage resources, helping mitigate climate change impacts and preserving natural heritage for future generations.

Royal Forest Department Director-General Nikorn Siridej stated that the department has an important mission to implement policy focusing on strengthening community forest networks and enabling them to manage resources efficiently under the 2019 Community Forest Act. Rather than merely supervising, the department acts as a 'mentor' providing academic and technical support, promoting local wisdom to add value to forest products, and ensuring community forests serve as sustainable sources of income and happiness.

Today's activities include presenting awards and certificates of honor to model community forest networks and supporting partners, distributing subsidies to community forest representatives from four regions, and awarding 'Forest Protectors, Land Lovers' recognition marks. The event features a community forest product market and demonstrations of products and services derived from community forest resources.

The Royal Forest Department and Natural Resources and Environment Ministry invite the public and all sectors to campaign for community forest conservation in their areas through tree planting, water-retaining weir construction, patrols, and firebreak maintenance to continue the royal vision and strengthen the nation's resource base sustainably.

Mayor Tuey Addresses Bang Saen Beach Tent Controversy: Jong-Caelan Issue Resolved, Just a Misunderstanding

Saansook Municipality Mayor Nongchai Kunpleum resolved a tent rental dispute with South Korean YouTubers Jong and Caelan at Bang Saen Beach, attributing the 400-baht overcharge to miscommunication about beachfront pricing. The municipality

1d ago Khaosod

May 25, 2025 – Nongchai Kunpleum, Mayor of Saansook Municipality, addressed the controversy involving South Korean YouTubers Jong and Caelan, who were charged 400 baht for two tent rentals at Bang Saen Beach. Although the money was eventually returned, the mayor expressed his regret as a fan of both content creators and apologized to them and their followers.

The mayor explained that the incident stemmed from unclear communication and misunderstanding. The tent rental area adjacent to Bang Saen Beach operates under an agreement with the municipality that has been in place for years. Operators are permitted to rent chairs and can only sell papaya salad and beverages; other food must be purchased from nearby shops.

The issue arose because the beachfront zone contains eight canopy beds total. When two people occupy one tent, the remaining six cannot be sold to others, creating a loss for the operator. The operator failed to clearly communicate that the beachfront area operates on a full-tent rental basis with negotiable pricing, leading to the misunderstanding when 400 baht was charged for just two people.

According to the mayor, Jong and Caelan had no issues with payment, but the incident gained traction on social media, causing damage. Non-beachfront tents cost 50 baht each, while beachfront tents require full-canopy rental charges.

Following the incident, Saansook Municipality will implement improved communication measures for tourists. The municipality has instructed operators to: 1. Clearly display pricing menus for all products and services 2. Confirm agreement on service charges before providing service 3. Strictly comply with regulations and operational terms

Tourists who prefer not to rent tents can use shade-only areas without tent rentals, with eight shaded spots available along the beach, or visit on Tuesdays when the beach is clear of rentals.

Assadullah Eyes Vacant Flyweight Throne Against Aslamjon in The Inner Circle on June 26

Russian flyweight Assadullah seeks the vacant ONE Muay Thai title against undefeated Uzbek fighter Aslamjon at Lumpinee Stadium on June 26, with both fighters carrying perfect records and one set to taste defeat for the first time.

1d ago Khaosod

Two young flyweight demons go head-to-head as Assadullah challenges Aslamjon for the vacant throne in The Inner Circle event this Friday, June 26. ONE Championship presents the main card of The Inner Circle on Friday, June 26, 2025 at Lumpinee Stadium (Rama Intra) for the vacant ONE Muay Thai flyweight championship (125-135 lbs) between 22-year-old Assadullah Imankasaliev from Russia and his equally young counterpart Aslamjon Ortikov from Uzbekistan. The match will be streamed exclusively for members on Live.ONEFC.com from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

With the ONE Muay Thai flyweight title vacant since 2567, the time has come for fresh blood like Assadullah, who gets his second shot at the belt, to prove his mettle against Aslamjon. Both fighters carry perfect professional records, and one must taste defeat for the first time—the victor will rightfully claim this coveted belt.

Assadullah remains undefeated with eight consecutive ONE victories. Most recently, he dominated former ONE Muay Thai bantamweight champion Nong O Hammamuaythai, stopping him in round two at ONE Lumpinee 147 in March 2025, maintaining his perfect 12-fight professional record. However, despite the victory, Assadullah missed weight and couldn't claim the flyweight title—making this his crucial second chance to overcome his opponent and ascend to the throne.

Meanwhile, Aslamjon continues his winning streak on the ONE stage, extending it to his tenth consecutive victory after a knockout finish of Colombia's Jordan Estupinán in round two at ONE Fight Night 43 in May 2025, keeping his undefeated professional record intact at 24 fights. Aslamjon has made his intentions clear, standing ready to challenge anyone in pursuit of the belt. Facing Assadullah represents another critical test he must overcome to prove himself as a true flyweight monster and undisputed champion of this division.

Wannor Revives Southern Border Peace Talks in Late June at Malaysia, Reveals PM Anutin Wants Resolution During This Term

Thailand's peace advisor revealed plans to resume southern border peace talks in late June in Malaysia, with PM Anutin determined to achieve resolution during his term after nearly two decades of conflict.

1d ago Khaosod

On May 25, 2025 at Government House, Wan Muhammad Noor Matha, Prime Minister's advisor, revealed details of discussions with Malaysian Ambassador Dato' Wan Saidi Wan Abdullah and delegation who visited to exchange congratulations following both officials taking new positions. The talks focused on the strong relationship between the two nations, with Malaysian tourists now ranking as Thailand's top visitor source, surpassing China. Wan Muhammad Noor stated that as advisor overseeing southern border province development, he believes strong bilateral relations will significantly enhance development in all aspects, including peace-building discussions where Malaysia facilitates negotiations between the government and dissenting parties. He noted that with cooperation, peace talks should progress smoothly. The peace negotiations should become clearer after a two-year hiatus, with technical preparations already underway and further discussions planned for early June before formal dialogue sessions. Wan Muhammad Noor indicated these formal talks, led by National Intelligence Agency Director Thanathorn Suwannannon as head of the southern border peace dialogue team, are expected to occur in late June at Malaysia. Regarding Malaysia's assessment of the new dialogue team leader, Wannor stated the Malaysian ambassador believes this appointment will bring greater negotiation progress, noting Thanathorn likely has prior contact with Malaysian officials. When asked about Malaysia's view of the current government, Wannor explained the new team will continue previous discussions, with expected progress given changing circumstances and personnel on both sides. Wannor further stated that PM Anutin Charnvirakul and Interior Minister want the talks concluded and peace achieved during this administration after nearly 20 years of conflict resulting in significant loss of life and resources. Wannor also revealed that Malaysia's agriculture minister will visit him privately to discuss joint agricultural development, as Thailand excels in fruits, vegetables, fertilizers, beef, and chicken production. He added that Malaysia serves as a major market for Thailand, with plans to bring food and agricultural businessmen and relevant ministers for future consultations.

Motorbike Taxi Drivers Clash Over Passengers in Ratchaprarob, Attack Each Other with Hammers

Two motorbike taxi drivers clashed over passenger competition on a Bangkok street, leaving one man severely injured after being struck repeatedly with a claw hammer on May 24.

1d ago Khaosod

On May 25, 2026, Din Daeng Police received a report of assault causing serious bodily injury in front of a condominium on Ratchaprarob Soi 14, Makkasan subdistrict, Ratchathewi district, Bangkok. The incident occurred on May 24 at 6:55 PM. Officers discovered a man named Songkran lying on the road with severe head and facial wounds bleeding profusely. Good Samaritans provided first aid before he was taken to Ratchavithi Hospital. Nearby, police found Yut, 29, sitting at the scene with a blood-stained claw hammer beside him. Officers took him into custody.

During questioning, Yut claimed he had argued with Songkran, and that Songkran attacked him first using the claw hammer (approximately 33 cm long), striking his head. Yut said he fought back, punching Songkran's face multiple times, then wrestled the hammer away and struck Songkran's head repeatedly until he fell unconscious. Yut stated the argument arose because both were motorbike taxi drivers competing for passengers—Yut operates at the entrance of the soi while Songkran operates deeper inside, claiming no connection to any other disputes.

Police initially charged Yut with assault causing serious bodily injury and forwarded him with evidence to Din Daeng Police Station's investigation unit for further legal proceedings.

Sri Trat at Sri's Room brings new chapter to Eastern Thai flavours

Sri Trat at Sri's Room opens at Siam Paragon with Eastern Thai cuisine featuring forest-and-sea flavors, exclusive dishes, and a tailoring-shop-inspired design centered on the fictional character Sri at age 27.

1d ago Khaosod

Sri is the mascot of Sri Trat's restaurants, whose story is told through lovingly crafted dishes at each venue. At Sri Trat, she is portrayed at the age of 42; at Burapa, as a 19-year-old girl; and at Sri Trat at Sri's Room, as a 27-year-old woman — a seamstress and an accomplished cook. While the character is fictional, she is rooted in reality, inspired by the Sri Trat owner's mother.

Located at Siam Paragon, Sri Trat at Sri's Room occupies a standalone dining space beautifully designed to evoke Sri Trat's tailoring shop, featuring Sino-Portuguese interiors and floral touches.

The menu offers a broad spectrum of Eastern Thai flavours, where "the forest meets the sea". It includes beloved classics from the original Sri Trat alongside exclusive creations available only at Sri Trat at Sri's Room, complemented by signature cocktails inspired by the music of the 1970s and 1980s.

Highlights include Nam Prik Goong Siab, a spicy Thai salad with crispy shrimp and an abundance of herbs; Lhon Pu Kai (Crab Roe Coconut Dip), a coconut milk-based herbal dip with lump crab meat, crab roe, and minced pork, served with a basket of fresh vegetables; and Baked Crab with Glass Noodles, a claypot dish of glass noodles and crab marinated in fish sauce. Those seeking something different may enjoy Spicy Stir-Fried Chicken with Cardamom, a dish exclusive to this branch.

For seafood lovers, the menu features "Jungle Soup", a fiery herbal soup with minced Asian sea bass seasoned with cumin leaves; Choo Chee Sea Bass Curry, deep-fried sea bass fillets topped with rich chu-chee curry sauce; and Betel Leaf Seabass Bite.

A clear crowd favourite is the slow-cooked pork belly, glazed in a rich blend of palm sugar and premium fish sauce, achieving a satisfying balance of sweetness, saltiness, and richness.

No exploration of Eastern Thai cuisine would be complete without chamuang. Sri Trat serves Pork Belly in Chamuang Curry, a signature sweet-and-sour stew from Eastern Thailand, prepared with pork belly and pork collar, slow-cooked with chamuang leaves and the restaurant's house curry base. For many, it is one of the defining dishes of the region.

To finish, diners can cleanse their palate with desserts such as Malva Nut Jelly with Fresh Coconut Milk, Sticky Rice Cake with Sea Salt Ice Cream, and Durian in Coconut Syrup — inventive takes on traditional Thai desserts and fruits that offer a fresh perspective on familiar flavours.

The drinks menu also enhances the experience. Cocktails such as PB to My Jelly and Sri's Lemonade, alongside mocktails including Hide the Scent and Cha-Yen, pair well with the restaurant's atmosphere.

Sri Trat at Sri's Room is located on the G Floor of Siam Paragon.

Tasting the Legend: 20-Year-Old Crab Fried Rice in Yarang, Police General Tawee Supports Southern Border SMEs Before Pushing Rider Rights

Police General Tawee visited Yarang District to support local SMEs, dining at a 20-year-old crab fried rice restaurant and backing expansion plans, while also pledging legal support for delivery riders from southern border provinces working

1d ago Khaosod

Visits to Thailand's southern border provinces by prominent political figures typically focus on strict security agendas. However, Police General Tawee Sodsong, advisor to the House Legal Affairs Committee and Democrat Party leader, chose a different approach during his recent trip to Yarang District, Pattani—diving deep into the lives and livelihoods of grassroots communities through meals brimming with smiles and community flavor.

Tawee's delegation made a beeline for "Sister Oom's Crab Fried Rice," a legendary restaurant in Yamu Subdistrict that has been serving the Pattani area for over 20 years and is renowned as the area's sole standout crab fried rice establishment. The restaurant's enduring appeal stems from its commitment to fresh local ingredients daily, combined with the owner's warm and friendly hospitality. The dining atmosphere that day overflowed with warmth and relaxation as Tawee shed his political persona, personally serving dishes to tablemates while repeatedly praising the fare: "Everything tastes amazing… really delicious."

The highlight menu featured the signature crab fried rice, generously packed with crab meat, crab claws, and crab egg, perfectly seasoned alongside fresh seafood dishes including crispy garlic squid, spicy squid soup, and fresh squid salad prepared with meticulous care. Desserts included traditional royal recipes and local specialties like "khanom agaw" and custard—legendary flavors from the royal family of Yarang, the Adulbut clan.

During the meal, conversation turned to developing local SMEs. The restaurant owner revealed plans to open a Bangkok branch of the crab fried rice recipe at an affordable 60 baht price point. Tawee endorsed the idea, assessing that such quality at that price in the capital would generate strong sales and prove worthwhile, potentially serving as a crucial mechanism for generating recurring income and sustainably boosting the southern border economy.

Beyond promoting grassroots economics, Tawee raised a pressing social issue from his Bangkok meetings with party members and citizens: the plight of delivery app riders. An estimated 200,000 people from the three southern border provinces now work in Bangkok, with many as riders facing daily traffic accident risks. However, the deepest concern is legal rights access. "When accidents happen or people die, many don't understand the law, so they don't receive proper compensation," Tawee noted.

Drawing on his experience as former Justice Minister, Tawee aims to concretely support this agenda by enabling riders to fully access the Justice Fund and the Motor Vehicle Accident Victims Protection Act. He also plans to arrange legal counsel to assist and provide legal advice to displaced workers.

During interrogation, Saravut confessed to knowing Ms. A through Facebook for a year before they started dating. He admitted he had used methamphetamine that morning, worked a security shift, then drank heavily with friends. He called Ms. A in the evening and they argued about his jealous suspicion that she had found a new boyfriend. At first he was kind, but recently became increasingly jealous and accused her of seeking a new boyfriend, returning to her ex-husband, or finding a foreign husband. She said he called constantly the day before until she grew annoyed. He then followed her to a papaya salad shop demanding she unblock him on Facebook and tried to grab her phone. She noticed something at his back and when she resisted, he drew a knife and stabbed her. She stated that her husband in Taiwan learned of the incident through the news and called to ask for a divorce, and she is prepared to live alone and work to support their child.

Four Provinces Coincidentally Conduct Surprise Drug Tests on Civil Servants the Same Day Without Notice

Four provinces simultaneously conducted surprise drug tests on over 1,500 civil servants on May 25, all yielding negative results in what observers noted as a striking coincidence requiring no prior coordination.

1d ago Khaosod

On May 25, 2026, District Officer Ratchakrit Phayakkhro of Song Phi Nong District in Suphan Buri ordered an immediate urine drug screening of all 450 government officials and staff attending a monthly meeting, including district officials, deputy district chiefs, village headmen, tambon physicians, and government employees.
