Residents are asked to use alternate routes and stay away from the operational area until the situation is resolved. Meanwhile, officials are coordinating with local leaders and relevant parties to negotiate with the suspect group, offering them the opportunity to voluntarily surrender and leave the area. Viriya Insurance Launches 79-Year Commitment Campaign to Build Brand Through Social Values

Viriya Insurance launched a 79-year commitment campaign emphasizing its role as a duty-bound insurer supporting Thai society, using creative advertising films to communicate authentic brand values beyond traditional corporate messaging.

1d ago Khaosod

Viriya Insurance is advancing brand identity communication through the campaign "Steadfast in Duty for 79 Years," reflecting its role as a general insurance provider standing beside Thai people in all circumstances. The company is partnering with Choojai and friends creative agency and director Atta Hemvadi, known for directing "Goehang...Gohome," to convey the message through advertising films aimed at spreading positive energy.

Amorn Tongthiw, Managing Director of Viriya Insurance Public Company Limited, revealed that in 2569 the company launched a corporate image promotion campaign under the concept "Steadfast in Duty for 79 Years," presenting a new perspective that goes beyond merely promoting corporate image. Instead, it aims to communicate to the public the company's business approach, reflecting the role of "duty" as an insurance provider that has stood alongside customers and Thai society through all circumstances over its 79-year history—authentic brand identity communication. Given that consumers currently receive abundant information, clearly communicating Viriya Insurance's foundations and identity is crucial, enabling consumers to make informed decisions about service selection.

For this new campaign, Viriya Insurance collaborated with Choojai and friends creative agency to develop concepts, create content, and plan campaign communications, alongside advertising director Atta Hemvadi, whose recent directorial work on "Goehang...Gohome" helped convey the concept through the advertising film series.

In the first quarter, the company employed O2O (Online-to-Offline) communication strategy through the Pre-Campaign activity "Viriya Insurance Gives You the Strength to Do Your Duty," which received strong public response by inviting citizens to share encouragement for various individuals, professions, and roles in society—such as doctors, nurses, street sweepers, traffic police officers, and others—via the company's official Facebook page and offline communication through billboards at major Bangkok landmarks.

In the second quarter, the company officially launched the "Steadfast in Duty for 79 Years" campaign, unveiling advertising films that creatively conveyed stories reflecting the profound value of "duty." This marks another significant step for Viriya Insurance in advancing corporate communication through concepts that create social value, with hopes that this campaign will be a positive force spreading encouragement to everyone facing today's many challenges, both expected and unexpected.

"We believe there are many others in society who think like Viriya Insurance—to do their duty as well as possible in all circumstances. That's where this campaign of encouragement comes from," the company stated.

Pairat Ueophudungleert, Co-Founder and Executive Creative Director of Choojai and friends, noted that an organization that has stood alongside Thai society for nearly 80 years must possess strong organizational culture and inherent values.

For the advertising film, Choojai and friends invited viewers to question "duty neglect," incorporating real-life events to raise awareness before closing with a message thanking ordinary people who fulfill their duties fully every day.

"This advertising series doesn't aim to point fingers or judge anyone. Rather, we want to communicate to viewers that what you do every day has value," Pairat said.

On May 21, Burapha Forces and the 12th Ranger Regiment control unit conducted border patrol operations in the Pa Rai Noi area of Aranyaprathet district, Sa Kaew province, when they discovered a large group of people attempting to illegally cross into Thailand through a natural passage. Officers apprehended 22 Cambodian nationals with small children and 3 Thai citizens, all lacking travel documents and with no human smugglers found at the scene.

Two men were arrested for using a gay dating app to lure victims, then posing as police to extort money and steal phones in Bangkok hotel scams.

1d ago Khaosod

On May 21, 2569, Deputy Commander Phuwadon Ounpodee of Buppharam Police Station announced the arrest of Kittipong Phumilaeng and Chaiyarat Visatakhet, who were wanted by Thonburi Criminal Court on charges of joint theft through deception posing as officials. The suspects targeted multiple victims using the Hornet gay dating app before defrauding them of valuables and cash.

In the first case (Criminal Case 98/2569), the victim met the suspect known as "Ice" on April 29, 2569 via Hornet and agreed to meet at a hotel on Lat Ya Road in Khlong San District, Bangkok. They spent time together in the room. The following morning on April 30, the suspect claimed police would inspect the victim's phone due to suspicious financial activity and tricked him into revealing his password. The suspects then transferred 13,600 baht from the victim's Kasikornbank account to a Krung Thai Bank account. The victim was later deceived again when someone posing as a police officer sent messages instructing him to hand over his phone for further investigation. After losing contact, the victim realized he had been scammed and filed a complaint.

After leaving with the suspect, he received a message claiming police were searching the room and demanding 3,000 baht as a bribe. The victim only had 500 baht and transferred it as requested. The second suspect was captured on CCTV stealing the victim's backpack while leaving the hotel and escaped by motorcycle taxi. The first suspect also fled.

After gathering evidence, investigators obtained arrest warrants from Thonburi Criminal Court for both suspects, who were apprehended on May 21, 2569. The investigation is ongoing to determine if there are additional victims with similar experiences.

45-Year-Old Man Attacks Elderly Aunt with Fruit Knife, Kills Her at Durian Stand in Chanthaburi City

A 45-year-old man with a history of mental illness fatally stabbed his 71-year-old aunt at her durian stand in Chanthaburi city on May 21, police say. The suspect, arrested at the scene, is facing premeditated murder charges.

1d ago Khaosod

On May 21, 2025, Deputy Chanthaburi Provincial Police Commander Pol. Col. Arkpong Soonthavibat received a report of a shocking stabbing incident at the intersection of Rattanawit Road near Sarakaew Temple in Bang Kacha subdistrict, Muang district, Chanthaburi province. Officers from the Evidence Unit, on-duty doctors from Phra Pokklao Hospital, and Sawang Boriboon rescue volunteers arrived to investigate the fatal stabbing.

At the roadside food stall, authorities found the body of Malay Tangjai, 71 years old, lying face-up in a pool of blood. The victim had multiple stab wounds concentrated on her left buttock, left cheek, and left temple area. Near the scene, police arrested the suspect, Yarnyong, also known as Boy, 45 years old, the victim's biological grandson. He was subdued by civilians and officers and pinned to the ground, speaking incoherently.

A search of Boy's Honda motorcycle (license plate 1GF 9127, Chanthaburi) revealed a blood-stained one-foot-long pointed knife in the front basket. Amid the wailing and cursing of grieving relatives, the investigation proceeded.

During questioning, Malay, 72-year-old mother of the suspect and sister of the victim, tearfully revealed that Boy suffered from mental illness and had been taking medication from Phra Pokklao Hospital for over 20 years. Recently, he experienced severe hallucinations and exhibited paranoid behavior, believing people were plotting to harm him and suspecting relatives wanted to kill him.

Boy had a history of going on destructive rampages and picking fights with the victim's household located nearby. He had even threatened to "kill the whole family." Unable to endure his behavior further, family members had previously filed a police report for his arrest. On the day of the incident, the victim had set up her durian stand along the roadside when Boy rode by on his motorcycle. He suddenly became mentally unstable, drew a knife, and repeatedly stabbed his biological aunt until she died.

Police initially detained Yarnyong for psychological evaluation at the station and conducted a urine test to check for drug use. They coordinated with authorities to obtain his psychiatric treatment history to support the case file. Police formally charged him with premeditated murder and proceeded with legal proceedings.

Ball Lost But Pride Wasn't: Over 10 Teenagers Ambush Couple at Muang Thong Condo as Police Look On

May 21, 2025 – A video circulating on social media shows a group of more than 10 teenagers ambushing and assaulting a married couple following a verbal altercation at a football field. The field owner called police to break up the dispute, but the opposing group later tracked down and attacked the couple in front of officers escorting them to their residence at P3 Building, Muang Thong Condo, Pak Kret, Nonthaburi.

In an interview, Noi, 37, and his girlfriend Kwan, 34, recounted that on the day of the incident, Noi had taken his teammates to a football match near Srisamarn intersection. After their team won, the opposing team became upset and verbal insults were exchanged. The field owner called police to separate the groups. Fearing the matter wouldn't end there, the couple filed a report at Pak Kret Police Station and requested a police escort home.

When they arrived at the condo, Noi noticed unfamiliar vehicles parked outside. As soon as they exited their car, the assailants rushed toward Kwan and attacked her, while another group attacked Noi. The accompanying police officers attempted to stop them, but the attackers showed no fear or respect for authority.

Kwan sustained injuries to her face, neck, and arms, while Noi was injured on his face. Since the incident, the attackers have made no contact. The couple has filed a police complaint and remains open to dialogue, but they expect the case to proceed according to the law. They expressed concern for their safety, as the attackers live in the same area.

Police reported that approximately 3-4 suspects have been identified. Summonses will be issued for them to meet with investigators for formal charges and legal proceedings.
