Commerce Ministry Partners with Hyundai Department Store to Promote Premium Thai Fruits in Korean Market
Thailand's Commerce Ministry is partnering with Hyundai Department Store to promote premium Thai fruits in South Korea, with mangoes, mangosteen, and durian featured across 13 supermarket branches from April through May 2025.
Sunantha Kangwalkulkij, Director-General of the Department of International Trade Promotion under the Ministry of Commerce, announced that the DITP has directed trade promotion officers and commercial attachés in targeted fruit export markets to implement policies from Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthummaphand, which aim to accelerate expansion of the Thai fruit market to support the upcoming fruit harvest season.
The promotional campaign under the theme "Taste of Thailand: Land of Tropical Fruits" is being conducted in partnership with The Hyundai department store and the Thai team. The initiative has successfully raised awareness of Thai fruits, elevated them to premium product status, and increased consumer demand.
Seasonal Thai fruits including Nam Dok Mai and Mahachanok mangoes, mangosteen, and durian—products with high market potential in South Korea—have been displayed and sold, attracting significant interest from South Korean consumers. These fruits have been recognized for their quality, standards, and excellent taste, successfully positioning them as premium Thai products and reinforcing Thailand's reputation as a land of tropical fruits.
The campaign is being held across 13 supermarket branches in major cities including Seoul, Goyang, Songnam, Daegu, and Ulsan from April 24 to May 21, 2025, alongside online sales channels. Results will be reported upon campaign completion.
"We are confident this campaign will increase Thai fruit awareness among South Korean consumers, boost consumption of Thai fruits, and increase exports to South Korea," said Sunantha. "This will help provide markets for Thai fruit producers and enable farmers to achieve better prices for their products."
